Story
Symon is a 1.5 year old, 45 lb Smooth Collie mix. Breed mix is just our best guess, but he sure looks a lot like photos of other Smooth Collies. He is so handsome with his tri-color markings, long snout, and legs that won't quit! Symon is a lot more than a pretty face though. He is smart and very willing to learn new things. Symon is very athletic, and will make a great walking, running, or hiking partner. He might even excel at agility training. He gets along with most other dogs, as long as introduced properly. We think he will be fine with kids over the age of 6. The first step to meeting handsome Symon is to submit your application, and one of our adoption counselors will contact you.

Story
Meet Rocky Balboa! YO, Family! Rocky isn’t a puppy. He isn’t a purebred. He is a medium sized black/tan Collie mix with adorable spots on his paws dog.  But he is a dog that can go the distance! He was recently surrendered to a shelter. Not our rescue, but a shelter that we work with to try and save as many together as we can. Clearly, not much thought or concern about his future, or how he would get through losing the only life and love he had ever known went into the decision, they assumed he would bounce right back, maybe they assumed he would be adopted immediately, maybe they never even gave a thought to how he would process and survive. Through team efforts, an LHS foster decided to change his story, he was rescued from the shelter just a few weeks ago and is in foster with care with LHS. At first his eyes said all we needed to know. It was clear that his heart was shattered, but his foster mom reminded him the he mattered… his foster home is re storing the love and the feeling of belonging that he knew until recently.  We want to give him back what he lost, no idea what he did wrong, or why he lost everything he ever loved, a home that will be forever this time. Fresh start. New hope. A mountain of love with a new family who will help his heart to mend.   People have no idea how much these animals hurt when they are given up. Many owners sign them over and walk right out. Sometimes they seem genuinely upset. None of them see the devastation. But we do. We get to see it up close and personally. Yes, sometimes it’s situations that can’t be helped. We know this, we truly do. We’re trying to be understanding, we’re trying not to judge. But I don’t know how you look into eyes like these, feel their pain and heartache, and not get sad. Please, if you know anyone who is looking for a new family member, please encourage them to consider Rocky, and know that these animals are family, too. For all dogs and this precious boy, we have got to do better by these animals. All it takes is for one person to see Rocky for who he really is. That is: perfection. He is the happiest boy in his foster home now.. If you like nonstop tail wags, perfectly placed kisses, a dog to go on an adventure AND pass out on the couch with you- Rocky is the one! He loves to go on field trips, and he is so well behaved. He is dog friendly and loves to meet new friends. He is crate and house trained and is the most chill boy that wants to do anything you want. I love a dog that can mimic the energy of their owners and Rocky is that! Rocky is 54 pounds, 4 years old, and a good dog. A loyal dog. A dog who spent his entire 4 years loving his people with everything he had, entrusting them with his love and his life. A dog who thought he would be loved and cared for forever. Little did he know his people would split up and neither would consider him important enough to include him in their future. This precious boy is looking for a family. Rocky is fully vetted, heartworm negative and neutered. We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Even senior dogs know the value of a good treat and BettyAnn knows her good behavior deserves a tasty reward. Around ten years old, this lovely lady hasn't always enjoyed the finer things in life, so she is content to just take it easy and touch grass - literally. BettyAnn enjoys short, slow, walks due to her tender hip. Just spending time in the yard, seeing the sky and clouds brings her joy. She can certainly live in a home with other dogs, but she's not interested in rambunctious play. She's a mature lady and just wants to enjoy each day. She prefers a soft bed to spending time in her crate but is accepting of either. She's not dependent on others for constant attention and interaction, but after spending time alone, BettyAnn lights up when she sees her people. She may not have been blessed with a loving family in her early life, but she's definitely ready for one now, and maybe a soft patch of grass to call her own. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise. Story
Meet Willow!Hi there! My name is Willow, and I'm a sweet and playful four-year-old dog. I absolutely love being around kids, and I'm known for being great with them. Although I can be a bit skittish around men when we first meet, I quickly warm up and become playful once I feel comfortable.I have excellent house manners, which means I know how to behave well inside. I never beg for food, and you won't hear me barking unnecessarily. At night, I love to sleep at the foot of my fosters's bed, keeping them company and providing them with warmth and comfort.Sometimes, when my foster leaves, I may scratch at the door. However, with a bit of training and adjustment, this behavior will improve over time. It could be a good idea to consider using a crate or kennel to help me feel secure and comfortable when I'm alone.Overall, I'm a really nice dog, and I would make a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a loving and loyal furry friend. To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt It doesn't obligate you, but it is the first step. We don't get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue!

Story
Dahlia is a loving, loyal, and very goofy girl. She is always down to play with her favorite toys, a racquet ball or tennis ball, squeaky stuffed animals or a cardboard box, she just loves to play with you. She also loves to run so a yard is a must. At night after a long walk, she loves to cuddle on the couch and sleep until it’s time for bed. Dahlia was adopted July 2022 and was a little over a year old, so i think her birthday is about June 2021. She is anxious around other dogs so would need to be the only one in the house, but I think with time and training, it’s fixable. She was attacked so she is skeptical of unfamiliar dogs. She has never been around a cat so i’m not sure how she would react around them. As for children, smaller children make her nervous since they’re so close to her face and she can get a little over excited and jumpy so it’s best to have older kids in a house. Dahlia now knows sit, down, stay(sometimes), still learning “come” but she loves learning. If you feel your home might be the right place for this wonderful dog, the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt.  Once submitted, the foster will contact you to tell you more, and to arrange a meeting! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter. Dahlia is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.July 21, 2024, 3:07 pm

Story
Andi was rescued  from her birth home in Devine, TX. She is now July 2023) almost 6 months old. We believe she was born approximately January 4, 2023. Her mom was a remarkably smart, loyal and loving Red Heeler. We believe her dad is an Australian Shepherd. Andi was 3 months old when we brought her home. Andi is sweet and full of love! However she is a high-energy girl, and would benefit from someone willing to give her the exercise, activities, and playtimes she needs to keep her active mind and body from seeking her own games!  She adores playing fetch, loves rubber balls and 'critter skins”, and  is incredibly affectionate; she loves to cuddle next to us on the couch. Andi is GREAT with other dogs and people. She loves to play with our Chiweenie. She has not been around any small children yet, but I cannot imagine she would not be as wonderful. She is great on walks and sleeps like a baby in her crate. She is 99% house-broken and well crate trained. She will come to her new home with  her crate, bedding and food.
