Story
Meet the social butterfly Nova – she’s never met a human she didn’t love. She is a 9-month-old, 45 lb, collie mix, with a goofy but very affectionate personality. She was adopted 6 months ago from a shelter, and she was so scared she would only belly crawl for days. With time and attention, she’s transformed into a mostly confident, curious, loving girl. Nova is fully up to date on all her vaccines, is spayed, and microchipped. Nova is a playful busy bee who loves to chase balls, carry around her stuffed toys, and snuggle. She has recently learned to bring the ball back for it to be thrown again and she gets very excited about it! She gets along with dogs and currently lives with 2 other dogs but is untried with cats. She gets along great with the 5-year-old German Shepherd but has recently started having issues with our 4-year-old Shepherd mix who is no longer tolerant of Nova’s puppy behavior. Nova loves to cuddle up with her humans and is the most affectionate dog I’ve ever had. She also loves cuddling up to the other dogs or making a nest out of her blankets and snuggling down into it. An ideal home for Nova would be one with a yard. She loves to go out and sniff around, chase the other dogs, and sunbathe. She enjoys school age children but hasn’t had any exposure to kids under 6. She would do best with a human that works from home or has other dogs she can seek comfort from when the humans aren’t home. She is a sensitive girl that is moderately high energy and very happy. Nova is crate and house trained, and knows sit, come, here. We’re still working on stay and down. She is a smart pup that enjoys using her brain with treat puzzles, snuffle mats, and training. She knows how to walk on a leash but has become fearful of being on leash if trying to leave out the front door due to recently being attacked while on a walk. She has fully recovered from the attack physically but has some emotional healing she’ll continue to need love and encouragement to get through. She has no issues being on the leash in the back yard. She has recently discovered that car rides aren’t so scary when she’s in her car bed that allows her to be buckled in and feeling secure. Nova is food possessive, so she is fed separately from the other dogs. Since she is still a puppy, additional training will help with this issue. She does well taking treats from my hand with the other dogs next to her. Nova is being rehomed due to my 4 year old dog no longer being tolerant of her. After the dog attack, Nova struggled with some personality changes – not bad changes, just not tolerable to my older girl who is highly anxious and twice the size of Nova. Nova has had zero issues with my 5 year old girl who is pretty laid back so it’s definitely the 4 year old’s issue and not Nova's. Unfortunately, the stress between the two of them is too high to allow either of them to live their best life. This precious pup is deserving of the perfect furever home where she can shower you with love and silliness. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Nova today! Story
This handsome boy needs a very special person in his life, as he struggles to trust many humans. Prince might like someone immediately, but it is rare. He did not like his foster mom at all initially, but now he is loving and adoring of her. He is an outgoing and fun dog once he chooses to trust someone; otherwise, he makes it clear that he prefers to be left alone. Prince lives with many other dogs and is exceptionally playful with the smaller dogs in his home. He has not been cat tested, but ignores the cats in their catio in his foster home. He has learned to accept and walk on a leash and even enjoys going for walks now. He is house-trained and has good house manners, which is excellent because he hates being in a crate. He needs a home with minimal people coming and going, and/or a place where he can be away from those who do not live with him, and where there are no young children. His perfect home would be with his human, and how many other dogs his human would like to have live with them.Prince is fully vetted, current with vaccinations, microchipped, neutered, and on flea and tick, as well as heartworm, prevention.

Story
Nova is a happy, snuggly, energetic 45lb 9 month old smooth haired collie who has never met a human she didn't like. Nova has fairly high energy that burns out pretty quickly and then is ready for a good nap. She loves her crate (with lots of blankets!) and is content to hang in there while we're busy around the house. Nova loves stuffed toys but likes to chew pieces off and swallow them. Nova would thrive in a home with a yard that she can explore. She'd do well with children to play with but her exposure has been limited to children that are elementary school age or older. Unsure how she would do with cats. Nova is house trained and crate trained. She's smart and knows basic commands. She is food possessive so we feed her in her crate. She is not a fan of riding in the car, but we got her a little travel bed and buckle her in and she's doing much better. . She'll come with her remaining months of flea/tick/heartworm meds, food, toys, blankets, car seat, snuffle mat.

Story
If you’re looking for a built-in best buddy who’s always up for fun, exploration, and a little silliness, I might just be your guy. I’m mostly white with a splash of ginger on my ears. I was born last July 4th, and I’m an Aussie mix like my mom. Dad is a bit of a mystery, but I like to think that just adds to my charm. I’ve got soft fur, bright dark eyes, and a happy-go-lucky outlook on life.   When I was four months old I had a hearing test and they found that I was deaf in my right ear - this is called "unilateral" hearing.  All this means is sometimes I have move my head around so I can locate sound, so it might take me a second to process.   I love being on the move, checking out new places, and meeting new friends. I’m great with kids and other dogs, and I’m very well adjusted. I’m already crate trained and housetrained too, which means I’m off to a great start as a family companion. My ideal family would be active, enjoy getting out and doing things, and have a backyard where I can stretch my legs, play, and burn off some of my energy. At the end of the day, I’m also sweet and cuddly and happy to soak up love from my people. I’m looking for a person or family who wants a true companion and plans to make me part of their whole life, for my whole life. If you’re ready for laughter, adventure, and a loyal sidekick who thinks you’re the best thing ever, I’d love to meet you. Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor, and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $135 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.   ##2466427##

Story
***  SOOKIE IS A COURTESY POST  ***  INTERESTED APPLICANTS WILL BE DIRECTED TO CURRENT GUARDIARN *** Meet Sookie – Brains, Bounce, and a Big Border Collie Heart Sookie is the kind of dog who turns a backyard into her own agility stadium. With her athletic build, sharp focus, and joyful leaps, this gorgeous Border Collie absolutely loves practicing jumps and showing off her impressive air. Watching her mid-flight is like seeing a tiny four-legged gymnast in action. But Sookie is more than an athlete. Once she knows you, her serious “working dog” expression softens into something incredibly sweet. She leans in for affection, seeks out her person, and happily melts into pets after a good play session. With her people, Sookie is deeply loyal and wonderfully affectionate in that special Border Collie way. She forms a close bond and loves being near the person she trusts. Because Sookie is thoughtful and sensitive, she thrives with a home that understands her need for a little time and patience when meeting new people. She isn’t the “center of the party with strangers” type. She’s more of a “let’s get to know each other first” kind of girl. Give her that space, and the reward is an incredibly devoted companion. Sookie would do best in a home that can provide: • Slow, positive introductions to new people• A calm environment without small children• A cat-free home• Either life as an only dog or with a very playful, well-matched canine friend• Thoughtful, gradual introductions to other dogs An active home that appreciates the brilliant Border Collie mind will be the perfect match. Whether it’s agility, training games, hiking, or simply learning new things together, Sookie is ready to partner with someone who enjoys engaging both her brain and her athletic spirit. At the end of the day, after the jumps are cleared and the energy is spent, Sookie’s favorite place is right beside her person, soaking up affection and enjoying the quiet connection she values so deeply. If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent companion who can soar over jumps and then curl up close for cuddles, Sookie might just be your perfect teammate. ##2678098##
