Story
Josie is a 2 year old dachshund/corgi mix weighing 17lbs. She is completely house/crate trained. Josie loves to play with other dogs her size, but is a little timid around larger dogs. She would be fine with older kids. She loves her people! Josie loves walks and is doing well with leash training. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (www.dfwrescueme.org) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet.July 7, 2026, 12:13 am

Story
Meet Gunner Gunner is a 5-year-old, 10-pound Dachshund with a little body, a big heart, and a story we wish he could tell us. We don’t know everything about Gunner’s past, but we do know life wasn’t always kind to him. Somewhere along the way, he learned that new people can be scary, and he needs time to decide who he can trust. Because of this, Gunner has been waiting months for someone willing to look past his nervous first impression and give him the chance he deserves. Because once Gunner decides you’re his person? You get to see the real him — the sweetest, most loving little companion. Gunner absolutely adores the people he trusts. He loves snuggling, going for walks, playing with toys, and curling up with his furry foster siblings. He is incredibly affectionate once he feels safe and would be happiest in a calm home with someone who is around often and looking for a loyal little shadow. Gunner also does wonderfully with other dogs and finds comfort in his canine friends. He loves snuggling with them and would enjoy having another friendly pup in the home. Why you’ll love Gunner:• Extremely sweet and affectionate once he trusts you• Loves snuggling• Great with other dogs• Enjoys walks• Loves toys• Bonds deeply with his people• Perfect little couch buddy• Loyal and loving companion Gunner has done okay with children, but he strongly prefers the calm companionship of adults. His dream home would likely be with middle-aged or senior adults, empty nesters, or someone with a quieter lifestyle who wants a sweet best friend by their side. Gunner is partially potty trained, but like many small male dogs, he does mark in the home. His foster currently uses belly bands, and he does well with them. We know Gunner isn’t the dog who will run up to strangers asking for attention. He’s the dog who asks for patience first — and then rewards you with a bond that means so much more because you earned it. To help him find the right match, Gunner is eligible for a 3-week foster-to-adopt period. This gives him the time he needs to settle in, build trust, and show his future family the amazing little dog hiding behind those nervous first moments. Gunner doesn’t need a perfect family. He just needs someone willing to give him time, kindness, and a safe place to finally feel at home. Apply to adopt Gunner here:https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/70992/generic Due to Gunner’s distrust with new people, the foster to adopt period is required in order for us to make sure the home is a good fit for him. Because of this, he is only eligible for local adoption in TX.  ##2729482##

Story
Meet Starr  Starr is a 7.5-year-old Dachshund with the sweetest soul and the kind of gentle love that only comes with age. She came to our rescue alongside four other Dachshunds after their beloved owner developed dementia and could no longer care for them. It was a heartbreaking change for dogs who had known one home for so long, but Starr has slowly begun to realize that she’s safe—and watching her confidence grow has been incredibly rewarding. Starr can be a little timid when meeting new people, but once she knows she can trust you, she’s all about the cuddles. She absolutely melts into her person and would happily spend her days snuggled up beside you or curled up under a cozy blanket. One of her most adorable quirks is the happy little tippy taps she does when she’s excited. It’s impossible not to smile when you see those tiny feet dancing with happiness. Why you’ll love Starr: * Sweet, gentle personality* Loves to cuddle once she feels safe* Adorable happy tippy taps* Professional nap enthusiast* Great with dogs of all sizes* Cat friendly* Potty trained* Crate trained Starr would thrive in a quiet, relaxed home where she can settle in at her own pace. She’d do best with children over the age of 10 who can understand that she needs a little time to warm up and appreciate her gentle nature. She’s not looking for constant excitement or endless adventures. She’s looking for a soft bed, a peaceful home, and someone who will cherish the quiet moments as much as she does. In return, she’ll give you unwavering loyalty, endless snuggles, and those precious little tippy taps that make every day brighter. After losing the only home she’d ever known, Starr deserves a family who will make sure she never has to wonder where she belongs again. Apply to adopt Starr here:https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/70992/generic Starr is located in Texas but can be adopted locally or out of state. We coordinate safe transport and offer video meet-and-greets to ensure it’s the perfect fit. ##2779597##
