Story
Meet Buddy VI! People are so drawn to this little bundle of people-pleasing energy. He can jump as high as 4 feet to see you if he’s on the other side of the kitchen door. Sweet little Buddy came to us after a Facebook group was having a long conversation of how to help this poor abandoned dog when a family moved and left him on their porch during an icy winter. There was no time to do anything indoors, so we offered. A foster group was contacted and we became official fosters and went through their vet to get him updated shots, healthy and chipped. In the meantime Buddy and Esa, our dog at that time, well they became fast friends. We adored Buddy, I mean he is so lovable and has those big eyes. His tail wags so much when you just look at him that I feed him a little more because it’s got to be a lot of energy! Buddy is a dachshund mix, short hair reddish brown bundle of energy. You could pet him all day or he can tootle around the house and entertain himself. He’s a great guard dog. If I hear a noise and Buddy does not bark, I know it’s nothing. While he’s never been crate trained or really trained at all. I had a trainer say that is is absolutely trainable because he responds to treats, will take a modest tone with his human and he is extremely sweet with the family. My Middle Scool and high school boys and their friend love him. When they come in he greets them and plays as long as they are willing. He likes to sleep with Esa on their plush dog beds together or he’ll sleep right under my bed very quietly all night long. Buddy IS house trained but if I’m visiting my mom I put him in the cutest little washable diaper just in case. He did pee on our carpet when we first got him but then adjusted. I recently got a new runner for the hallway and he’s had no issue with it. We do keep my husband office door closed. The ancient rug in there is not with the risk. Buddy is just a fun dog who runs so so fast in circles around our back yard, after a squirrel, or playing with Esa the sister dog. It’s very unfortunate that I need to rehome, but I’ll be in a small apartment soon, gone all day and caring for my parent in the evening and weekends. Just meet Buddy and you’ll see what I mean. He’s a young active, fun seeking, people pleaser. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Buddy VI, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
