Story
Travis is a 1.5 year old, 13 lb Dachshund mix. He has such handsome markings and soulful eyes. He and nine other small dogs were dumped in East Texas, and Humane Tomorrow took them all into our adoption program. Foster mom says that he is very calm, loves cuddles, and enjoys snuggling under a blanket. He is even starting to show his playful side. Travis will be timid at first, so he needs adopters who will be patient with him and give him time and space to build trust, a calm environment where he feels safe and secure. With love and consistency, he will blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion. If you would like to give Travis a forever home that really does last forever, please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you. Travis has heartworms because he was not kept on heartworm prevention. Humane Tomorrow will pay for his treatment with our partner vet, and the treatments are very successful.

Story
Meet your future best friend Oakley, He is a 10 month old dachshund mix. He is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. 🐾 This sweet puppy is looking for a loving, patient home where he can truly shine. He has a gentle heart, a playful spirit, and a deep desire to bond closely with his people. Once he trusts you, he’s incredibly affectionate and happiest being by your side. He would do best as the only dog in the home, where he can feel safe, relaxed, and get all the attention he deserves. Without other dogs around, he’s able to settle in more comfortably and build confidence at his own pace. He is fond of cats and gets along great with children once he is comfortable. Like many puppies, he’s still working on potty training. He’s learning every day and will thrive with a consistent routine, positive reinforcement, and a family that understands accidents are part of the process. With patience and encouragement, he’s sure to continue making great progress. One of his favorite things in the world is toys—especially stuffies! He loves carrying them around, cuddling them, and proudly showing them off. He also has a charming fascination with pinecones, happily collecting them during outdoor time as if they’re little treasures. This little guy would be a wonderful match for someone who wants a loyal companion, enjoys gentle playtime, and is excited to help a puppy grow into his best self. If you’re looking for a sweet soul who will reward your love with endless devotion, he may be the perfect addition to your family. Note: We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that are a good fit for the dog.

Story
Dolly was found stray by a kind citizen who is fostering her until adopted since her owners did not surface. She has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She tested positive for heartworms on 12/10 and has started the heartworm treatment - which is one shot of Proheart12 and 30 days of an oral antibiotic. She will be retested in 1 year (this is covered by LHS). The Proheart12 also serves as a full year of heartworm prevention - added savings to an adopter.   She is 1 year old and weights 8  lbs. Here's what her foster family said: Dolly is really smart, she has learned very quickly how to walk on leash and she housebroken. She is very, very cuddle, seems very happy to sit in your lap. She is great with other dogs and kids of all shapes and sizes. She has not been around cats but can be cat tested if needed - we do think she would do well with cats based on her personality.  Adoption fee is $275. Please apply online if you're interested in meeting her.  Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.
