Story
If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment to visit with this animal, please email us at info@animalhope.org or call 817‑984‑1129 between 12 pm and 6 pm.Lenny is a 2½‑year‑old tan Chihuahua weighing about 10.8 pounds. He and his brother, Squiggy, were rescued off the streets of New Orleans. Their finder wanted to help them but was already at their pet limit, so the boys were transferred to us to find a safe, permanent home together.Like his brother, Lenny is in good health, just slightly underweight, and has been cleared by our veterinary team. He is shy and standoffish at first, and he needs time and reassurance before he begins to show his true personality. Once he feels secure, he becomes incredibly sweet — and he and Squiggy share funny, endearing little quirks that make them a joy to watch. The adoption fee for the bonded pair is $400.Because we don’t observe our animals in home settings, we aren’t able to guarantee whether he is housebroken.Upon intake, every animal receives:Spay/neuter surgeryMicrochipAll age‑appropriate vaccinationsBlood and fecal testing (with treatment if needed)Flea, tick, and heartworm preventionA complimentary wellness exam 7–10 days after adoptionAdopters must be at least 21 years old and live within an hour of our facility. If you’d like to meet Lenny, we’d be happy to help. He’s a gentle, sensitive Chihuahua who thrives with patience — and he is happiest right by Squiggy’s side.

Story
Meet LeenaAt just 5 months old, Leena is a happy, playful little Chiweenie with plenty of personality and lots of love to give! This sweet girl loves her toys, especially a good game of tug-of-war, and she`s always ready for a tasty chew. She loves attention and wants to be part of the action with her people.Leena is great with kids, loves other dogs, and thinks cats make pretty great playmates, too! She may take a little time to warm up when meeting someone new, but once she feels comfortable, her sweet and loving personality shines through. She`s already doing well with potty training and is still learning her leash skills. Leena would be perfectly happy as an only dog but wouldn`t mind having a furry friend to play with either. If you`re looking for a fun, affectionate puppy who will keep you smiling and then happily curl up for some love, Leena could be your girl!To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt. It doesn`t obligate you, but it is the first step. We don`t get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue!

Story
Meet Frick 🌭🐾 2 years old | Mini Dachshund | Lowrider Legend Frick is tiny, stubborn, hilarious, and fully committed to the dachshund lifestyle. He’s got the classic weenie dog attitude — curious, opinionated, convinced he’s much larger than he actually is — but underneath all that swagger is a sweet little guy who’s learning how to be the best boy. Frick came to us heartworm positive, so he’s currently wrapping up his treatment and vetting. Once he gets the all-clear, he’ll officially be ready to start the spoiled pet life he was clearly born for. He loves attention, keeps everyone entertained, and has the kind of personality only a dachshund can get away with. Honestly… it’s a weenie dog. You already know this man is going to have applications flying in 🌭✨

Story
Meet Stevie Ray 🎸 Who needs eyesight when you've got this much confidence? Stevie Ray is a 6-month-old, 8-pound mini Dachshund who happens to be deaf & blind—but don't bother telling him that. This little guy is busy living life at full speed. Stevie has already mastered navigating the couch, ottoman, living room, and backyard. He follows voices, learns routines quickly, and approaches every day with enthusiasm and absolutely zero fear. He's playful, affectionate, and loves wrestling with his dog friends just as much as he loves snuggling with his people. He recently met a kid and immediately decided they were the greatest invention of all time. At bedtime, Stevie happily heads into his crate for a treat, sleeps through the night, and is making great progress with house training. Like any puppy, he can get excited and vocal when the other dogs are having fun—but he never wants to miss out on the action. Full of personality, Stevie Ray is proof that sometimes the biggest outlook on life comes in the smallest package. ❤️

Story
Meet Petunia!  This sweet red and white dachshund is looking for her forever couch — and maybe someone who always has snacks in their pocket. She's all of 12#s and about three years old. Petunia comes to NTASR after being surrendered to a local shelter.  Petunia is a sensitive soul who might take a little while to find her confidence, but once she feels safe with you, she's pure velvet — burrowing into blankets, pressing against your side, howling for treats and soaking up every ounce of affection you'll give her. Cuddles aren't just her love language, they're her whole personality. The big wide world is still a little intimidating for this girl, but she's working on it! Walks are a work in progress — she's learning that the outside isn't so scary, especially with the right human by her side and a little encouragement along the way. Speaking of encouragement... Petunia is wildly food motivated, which means she's a dream to work with. Training? Absolutely possible. Bribery? Enthusiastically accepted. Petunia would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can take things at her own pace. She'll reward your gentleness tenfold in snuggles and soulful brown eyes. Gets along with others but would really prefer all the attention. She would do best in a home without kids.

Story
Yazhi just turned one year old this August. He’s a playful sweet dog that loves other dogs. His mommy and daddy just got stationed overseas and he needs a loving stable home. He’s up to date on all his shots and is microchipped. He is not fixed. Yahzi is house trained and kennel trained. He’s like Velcro and will want to sit in your lap and cuddle. Yahzi has been strictly an inside dog. Kennel and dog food goes home with him.
