Story
Bullseye is a sweet older guy who was a loyal companion to his pet parent who recently passed away. He's been living for about four years with another small, younger, mixed-breed dog and they get along great. He is very friendly and energetic despite being about 11 years old and a bit overweight (he's about 20 pounds). Bullseye still has a lot of life and love left to give in a new home with someone willing to care for him. He’s all up to date on his vaccines and recently had some extensive dental treatment to get his mouth healthy again. He needs regular eye drops and grooming. He’s a real lover and gets quickly attached to people, he would make a sweet little companion!!

Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: Australian Kelpie xEstimated Birth Date: 11/1/2020When Kern County Animal Services reached out regarding Sierra we agreed to meet her but honestly didn’t have high hopes. Sierra was born with an Imperforate Anus. What this means is she did not have an anal opening. Her feces passed through her vaginal area. Most dogs with this condition grow septic when they are puppies and often humane euthanasia is the kindest option. But Sierra somehow beat the odds. Not only has she made it to adulthood but she is thriving! This girl has so much light and life! She is definitely a dog that deserved a 2nd Chance. Sierras surgery was complicated. But that’s where we excel. We’re good at complicated. She came out of her surgery with flying colors and has made a full recovery. Sierra is happy, social and active. She loves people, although she’s a touch shy and timid when 1st getting to know them, and wants nothing more than a bit of love and affection. Well let’s be real she really wants all your love and attention lol. True to her breed she has a good amount of fun energy and would do best in a home with some physical activity. She’d be a great hiking buddy and would love to go on all of your adventures. Sierra is good with other dogs and has been amazing with every dog we’ve paired her with at the ranch. Due to the nature of the anal repairs Sierra needed she is not fully house trained. We’ve got her on a pretty consistent schedule which has helped tremendously with timing her to void outside but she will likely never be completely perfect. If Sierra’s story touches you as much as it’s touched us please apply to give this very deserving girl an amazing home. Story
Sex: MaleBreed: PitbullEstimated Date of Birth : 04/02/2021Oh Ziggy! You are the sweetest most loyal boy. Your bond with those you know is unbreakable. You love harder than most dogs and because you love so hard you’re looking for an extra special family to call your own. You see it’s hard to love so much. Inevitably humans disappoint you and that’s exactly what we’re looking to prevent. We’re doing our best to find a family who will love you just as much as you love them. A family who isn’t afraid to help you build trust and a family who has the patience you need to succeed. You’ve succeeded with so many of our ranch crew. You’ve formed bonds so we know you can do it. That extra special family is out there and we hope we can find them. Ziggys life has been hard. It’s shaped him into the dog he is today. It’s made him scared and made trusting unknown people difficult. Ziggy came into Kern County Animal Services broken. He had a significant leg injury that had healed poorly causing a funny gait. But it was healed so no further medical procedures were needed. He was just going to walk funny. We have to wonder if his injury was caused by a person. He was so terrified right from the beginning. But slowly he learned to trust in foster care. Sadly his stay in a foster home was short lived. His fosters couldn’t hold on to him long term and he had no adoption interest. It seemed no one wanted a dog with a wonky walk and trust issues. Ziggy headed to our rescue ranch. He struggled with the change for awhile and we also noticed that his damaged leg seemed to be painful and causing him issues. His leg was evaluated by an orthopedic specialist and it was determined the only way to ease his pain was through amputation. Ziggy had his surgery and hasn’t looked back. He’s acclimated to tripod life beautifully. He’s also formed some pretty amazing bonds with our ranch staff. He’s super affectionate with those he knows and trusts and actually has a calm chill personality. He lives for games of fetch, is great on leash and adores laying in laps for endless amounts of pets. Ziggys biggest obstacle is that trust takes him awhile. He is terrified of strangers and it shows. It changes his whole demeanor. He can be reactive and his body shakes with his insecurity. The only way he’ll find adoption is if someone cares enough to give him the time he needs to feel secure. Sadly most people don’t want that kind of a project so dogs like Ziggy have a hard time finding homes. We are hopeful that just the right human sees his pictures, reads our words and decides that Ziggy is worth taking a chance on. That chance will positively change Ziggys life forever! Story
Sex: MaleBreed: German Shepherd XEstimated Birth Date: 02/04/2019We wish more people gave dogs with differences a chance. Dogs like Ivar who didn’t ask to be different but have chosen to make the most of their lot in life. They really aren’t so much different than the perfect dog everyone is looking for. They live, they love and they just want a little luck finding their place in this world. Sadly for many they won’t find that home. Ivar was lucky. He’s had so many good humans advocate for him starting with his original rescue overseas. He was part of a large group of dogs we brought over from both Morocco and Lebanon prior to the CDC import ban. Since arriving on US soil Ivar has really come out of his shell and is a happy go lucky guy. He’s sweet and affectionate, goofy and playful. He’s just happy to be alive and you can see that instantly the moment you meet him. Ivar is great with other dogs and has a fun energy that would make him a wonderful addition to almost any family. Ivar is adoption ready and would love a caring family of his very own. We know the care needs of a wheelie pup turn many adopters away but we won’t give up hope that Ivar’s people are out there. Many of you will say the ranch is Ivar’s home but we want his forever home to be so much more than we can offer him at the ranch. He deserves to have a home where he doesn’t have to share with an entire ranch full of other pups. He deserves a family who can devote their time to him and will love him differences and all. Maybe that family is you….help us find him the home he’s been waiting for.
