Story
Dog Name: Gloss Breed: Mixed Sex: Female Age: 1-2 years old Weight: 15-18 lbs Medical Needs: Gloss is due to be spayed on June 30,2026. Spay and 4dx test is scheduled for 6/30/26 at BVSPCA in Dover Keeping the appointment is a condition of adoption. If you aren’t going to be able to accommodate an appointment there (drop offs are 8-830 and pick ups are 4-5 ish) or are going to try to argue with us about it later, DO NOT APPLY, because we are going to tell you that the appointment stands. Foster to adopt family must live within 1 hour of Dover so there won’t be any issues traveling back for her spay. NO EXCEPTIONS. Housebroken: yes, but will need to be kept on a strict bathroom routine to prevent accidents inside. Crate trained: she is learning to be okay with the crate, is very sluggish to go inside but if told kennel up and offered a treat she enters with no hesitation Good in the car: Gloss loves herself a good car ride, she like to ride shotgun with foster mom but not without her doggie seat belt to secure her or she will be sitting in your lap trying to drive for you. Good on a leash: walks extremely well on a leash doesn’t pull or anything Energy level: couch potato, low energy Need a fenced in yard: she should have a family that has a large yard so she can run an play, she doesn’t necessarily need to have I fenced in due to she doesn’t let you go to far away from her sight. Dog Friendly: yes, Gloss came from a West Virginia hoarding situation where she was around several other dogs of her size. Over the last couple weeks she has introduced to several different types of dogs as well as sizes, she has done extremely well with all sizes. Gloss gets a little nervous around larger dogs but doesn’t try to run in hide she is very curious. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Gloss would do well with another resident dog in the home to learn the ropes and to truly flourish. Cat Friendly: yes doesn’t seem to mind cats, I have outside and inside cats and she looks at them and couldn’t seem to care that they are around her. Kid Friendly: yes If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Gloss loves her people she loves to cuddle, she would do well with someone that either works from home or does not work long hours. She enjoys fun in the sun and swimming in the dog pool at my foster mom’s house. Fun Facts: Gloss loves to cuddle with her person or people, but she also loves to be out for fun in the sun. She enjoys long walks at the park or strolling through the backyard playing or swimming in the doggie pool. She is not one for squeaky toys but loves the good squishy toy to snuggle up with in her crate. For special treats she like milk bones of the peanut butter flavored or a good bull hoof to chew on. Fosters Location: Fostered in Felton, DE so if you would love to make this cuddle bug a part of your family go to grrd.org and submit an application Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app ##2734647##

Dog Name: SUMMIT Breed: Maremmano mix Sex: Male Age: 10 weeks(DOB: 3/28/26) Weight: 15lbs MEDICAL NEEDS: Will need the rabies vaccine once old enough. Needs to be neutered by 9/30/26. Foster to adopt family will contact Grass Roots Rescue at around 5 months to schedule this appointment with one of the clinics we work with in the state of Delaware. Keeping the appointment is a condition of adoption. Foster to adopters must live within 1 hour of DE and be willing to travel here for the pending appointment. NO EXCEPTIONS.Neuter appointment is included in the adoption fee at one of the clinics we use and will be requested at the clinic closest to the family. (Options are Wilmington, Newark, Dover, Georgetown.) The clinics assign the appointments, and keeping that appointment will be a condition of adoption. Families must live within one hour of one of the clinics listed above and be willing to travel here for the pending appointment. A $75 check will be collected at time of adoption but will be destroyed after neuter appointment. HOUSEBROKEN: minimal accidents but we have him on a schedule especially after the crate, eating, playing, and sleeping. He is very much a puppy so he needs to be let out frequently! CRATE TRAINED: he's a puppy so he is still learning. He will lay and be quiet but he can also be loud and let you know he doesn't want to be in there. summit sleeps in his crate every night and has been doing really well with that so far. Can typically sleep through the night with no noise. GOOD IN THE CAR: Yes, will eventually lay down GOOD ON THE LEASH: he is learning how to walk nicely on the leash but still wants to bite on the leash and walk himself. He is just a baby so the walks are very short at this time. Energy level: he can be mellow at times but he also has that puppy energy Need a fenced in yard: No, he could be trained to be without Dog Friendly: Yes If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No Cat Friendly? He had one interaction with a cat briefly and wanted to play with the cats tail but otherwise no other interaction. Kid Friendly: Yes If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any with supervision- he is a puppy with very sharp teeth and still learning the difference between toy and a human. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Summit is a sweet fluffy boy. You can tell he is very smart and will do really well with someone who will take the time to train him. Summit is a very loving boy who loves to snuggle and keep his eyes on you and play constantly. Story
Dog Name: Finnick Breed: Small Mixed Sex: Male Age: 1yr old roughly Weight: 10 lbs Medical Needs: Neuter and 4dx test is scheduled for 7/27/26 at BVSPCA in Georgetown Keeping the appointment is a condition of adoption. If you aren’t going to be able to accommodate an appointment there (drop offs are 8-830 and pick ups are 4-5 ish) or are going to try to argue with us about it later, DO NOT APPLY, because we are going to tell you that the appointment stands. Foster to adopt family must live within 1 hour of Georgetown so there won’t be any issues traveling back for his neuter. NO EXCEPTIONS Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: Yes Good in the car: Still in observation. He laid down when we brought him home. Good on a leash: He’s been good on a leash. Energy level: high Need a fenced in yard: no, leash walks would be fine. Dog Friendly: Yes. He’s been introduced to our resident & foster dogs. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No Cat Friendly? Somewhat. He has a lot of energy so some of our dog friendly cats are good and some don’t want that energy near them. Kid Friendly: He hasn’t yet been around any kids but I suspect he’d be fine. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Depending on how trained the kids are with animals, 6 or older because he can be jumpy and scratch. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? He is showing signs that he is a smart boy! He’s learned to sit the first day we started training. He knows sit and lay currently. He has a lot of puppy energy! He’ll need more training especially to learn not to jump and to focus. He is the epitome of…squirrel!  He does follow us around the house and yard. Sticks like glue especially under your feet. He’s been introduced to our dogs and he will be submissive until they get their sniffs done and then he wants to play. He has met some of our dog friendly cats and those that want nothing to do with this energy. So, if you have cats, they need to be okay with an excited jumping bean lol. He is potty trained. We’ve had one accident and that was the first night he came to us. He did get his nails professionally trimmed and did very good for the groomer. He walks well on the leash for a puppy. He goes into his kennel and doesn’t make a peep. He will make someone very happy with the right training and introductions. I wouldn’t recommend young children just because of the jumping and possible scratches. Foster’s Location: Westover, MD Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (If you already have an approved application on file, email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com, and ask the app team to pull your app.) ##2734635##

Story
When we first got Toby from his first family he was aggressive. However we kept a nozzle on him for 2 days to prevent any attacks. After those days were over he calmed down and we got him to feel comfortable. Whoever wants to adopt Toby will have to go through the same process as we did. He is two years old and he is extremely playful and gets really attached.
