Story
Dog Name: Funky Frank Breed: Poodle Mix Sex: Male Age: 2-3 Weight: 43lbs Medical Needs: none Housebroken: yes Crate trained: Barks when hearing noise throughout house but settles well at night time. Good in the car: loves car rides Good on a leash: pulls a little but does well with a prong collar Energy level: medium to high Need a fenced in yard: no but he would like it Dog Friendly: lived with many dogs in the past. Can be apprehensive of new dogs at first but warms up quickly. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive home? No Cat Friendly: unknown Kid Friendly: yes with proper supervision If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any age with proper supervision. Special traits: Frank came to us in need a warm bath and a shave, hence the name. He is more of a Fabulous Frank now. He is a sweet and fun loving boy. He has a little stranger danger when first meeting new people and pups but warms up quickly with a nice introduction. Once you’ve become his friend he would love nothing more than to snuggle up or play fetch. He is a fan of long walks and balls of all colors and variety. Cheese is his favorite snack. Story
Dog Name: Maddie G Breed: Lab Mix Sex: Female Age: 4-5 years old Weight: 67 Medical Needs: None. Housebroken: Yes. No accidents in the home or crate. Will go to the door when she needs to go out. Crate trained: Yes 100%. Good in the car: Yes. Would definitely recommend tethering her leash if you’re driving alone. Good on a leash: Yes, with the use of a prong collar. Energy level: Medium. Need a fenced in yard: No, but I’m sure we would love it. Dog Friendly: No. We are recommending her to be the only dog in the home. She does fine out in neutral places, but she doesn’t like to share her home, people or things with other pups. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Nope Cat Friendly? Yes, with slow intros with dog savvy cats. Kid Friendly: Yes If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? 10 and up. She’s being fostered with a 16 year old and she absolutely loves him. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? If happiness had four legs and a wiggle butt, it would be Maddie G. This super affectionate sweetheart greets every human as her new BFF. Maddie is the perfect mix of playful goofball and professional snuggle consultant. She lives for toy time — especially stuffy or a ball. After playtime she’ll happily plop down with a Benebone for some serious chew-and-chill vibes or just snuggle up next to her person. She’s a very smart girl who genuinely wants to make her people proud. She already knows commands like sit and down, and she’s working on place. She listens well to corrections and thrives with structure and clear boundaries. Maddie G is truly an all-around good girl with a heart full of love and a deep desire to be close to her people. Her dream home? One with guidance, consistency, and humans who are ready for daily doses of joy, affection, and enthusiastic greetings. Story
Dog Name: Sticky Stefan Breed: Doodle Mix Sex: Male Age: 6-9 months Weight: 40 pounds Medical Needs: Stefan has appointment to be neutered on March 18th at BVSPCA in Dover on Horsepond Road. Keeping this appointment is a condition of adoption. Foster to adopt families must live within one hour of DE and be willing to travel here for the pending appointment. Housebroken: Once Stefan figured out he should be going to the bathroom outside he has not had any accidents inside. However he will only go when off the leash in a fenced in area at this time. Crate trained: Stefan doesn’t mind the crate. He eats in a crate and will go in for without trouble when he’s ready to eat or go to bed. He settles quickly. Good in the car: He is a great passenger. Good on a leash: Everyday is a step in the right direction. Stefan was terrified of the leash at first and would freeze in place. Now he will happily walk close to you. Energy level: Stefan is very laid back, he is happy to just lay near you. He is still young and will get very excited to see you or when you move. Need a fenced in yard: Yes. Due to his unique quirk of refusing to potty while on a leash. Dog Friendly: Yes, is currently fostered with other dogs. They get along well and play together. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Yes, due to Stefan’s history he doesn’t understand how to be a dog. Another none dominant dog will be able to help him learn. Cat Friendly? Unknown, with proper introductions they should get along fine. Kid Friendly: Yes! Stefan loves kids. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any with supervision. He loves all people no matter their size but is still learning not to jump. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? The best thing about Stefan is his lean, he will choose his emotional support person, when he leans into you… you can just feel his worries melt away. Stefan is very stoic and calm… once he greets you. Since being groomed and removing large mats Stefan has learned the joy of movement - including jumping up to say hello, parkour off the couch and RUNNING through the yard at full speed. Once the energy has been released Stfan will follow you like a shadow and just wants to be near you. He came from a situation where he was raised in an apartment with both his parents and his siblings. Going outside, leashes, the vet and the groomers were all new experiences. With each new experience I see his confidence grow. He will benefit from socialization with both people and other dogs. Stefan is very submissive if there is a dominant dog in the home. He doesn’t understand if he’s in “trouble” or if the dog is trying to play. Stefan’s perfect home would have parents who don’t mind a shadow, who will teach him how to play with toys and a confident furry sibling for him to learn from.
