Story
ABOUT CHLOE Chloe is a 6 year old terrier mix with quite the back story! Chloe came to HAP when she was found wandering in a wooded part of Aston Township, PA. She had been spotted for nearly a week, but was too scared to accept help from anyone. When HAP got the call, our team hit the road same-day to save her. Understandably, she was a bit nervous at first. Given her age and the fact she was in good health, it's likely that she had spent her life in a home and was confused why she was abandoned. Once she settled into the shelter, she proved to be the sweetest, snuggly girl! While we thought she would get adopted quickly, she has sadly been with us for over six months. Chloe is a laid-back lady who enjoys going for her walks and then curling up on her doggy bed for a snooze. She still gets bursts of energy and play, but overall is just looking for a cozy place to relax that she can call home. She knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. Chloe is not fond of other dogs, so being in the shelter takes a toll on her. However, through our Doggy Day Out program, Chloe has thrived outside of the shelter environment! Check out what our volunteers had to say about her: "Today I got to spend the day with Chloe! She is such a sweet little girl and loved her cuddles. At first she was a little nervous but warmed up to us so fast and LOVED her treats! She did meet one of my male friends and stayed back, but after a few minutes warmed right up to him. She loved to go on a walk but loved her snuggles even more! Love this baby girl" - Juliana "I took Chloe out today for a DDO and we had an amazing time! She was an angel and mostly just wanted to sleep. We first went to Brandywine Park and walked by the river, she loves to sniff and take her time. She was obsessed with sitting on my lap! (She enjoyed listening to music and watching out the car windows. She stopped at my house to visit my roommates, she sat so sweetly on our patio chair. We stopped at Riverfronts pets to get some treats and love from the workers. She was a perfect girl. She was so easy to handle and really just wanted love the entire time. Loved the day with her, missed her dearly the rest of it." - Allie "Got to spend a relaxing morning with Chloe! She is such a sweet, slow and steady kinda girl. Loves sniffs and snacks!!! Once she figured out I was stacked with treats she walked right next to me and nudged my hand to ask for more! She was great in the car and was so brave jumping right into it!" - Faith **Chloe is seeking a home as your only pet. ABOUT FRAN The fantastic Fran! This cutie is a 4 year old hound mix came to HAP from a high-intake shelter when they no longer had space for her. When she first arrived, she had some reservations about meeting new people. Fran appears to trust women a lot more easily than men, though she does adore our male staff. Although she can be nervous, once Fran is comfortable with you, it's not long after that she falls in love with you! She greets all her friends with a big hug and kisses. We're not sure she knows her size, as she will climb right into your lap for some snuggles. She enjoys spending time outside, whether she's bouncing around our fenced fields or sprawled out with an enrichment toy, she is a happy girl. Fran is very well-mannered and knows basic commands. As the princess she is, she absolutely adores wearing a stylish sweater or costume. She walks well on a leash, and like her typical hound nature, she loves to sniff and can get excited to track down some squirrels. Fran has participated in our Doggy Day Out program, where she was able to get a break from shelter stress. Here's what a volunteer had to say about their day together: "I spent the day with Fran! We had a long day at Brandywine Park today. At the start of the day, getting in and out of the car, Fran was a bit skittish but by the end, she did it all by herself. We had a lovely day at the park walking around and sniffing everything! As a hound/pointer (my guess) she wanted to smell everything and hunt. Any bird, squirrel, or goose she showed interest in chasing. With regards to other dogs, she pulled but only wanted to sniff and say hi. With small kids, she seemed excited but as if she wanted to play rough so maybe older kids would be better. She was very loving and cuddly towards me laying her head on me and jumping up to my chest. Overall we had a great day in the park and she loved the lick mat I made her w peanut butter so it was a good way to refuel her after walking all day and before her nap!" **Fran is seeking a home with adults only, as kiddos can be too fast-paced for her. She has made some dog friends at the shelter, but is selective of her pals. If you are interested in adoption, you are welcome to submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is first-come, best-match basis. We are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in a specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come for the meeting to ensure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animal's spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

ABOUT MOO Moo is a 1 year old pittie mix that was found abandoned on our property. We tried to find her owner, but unfortunately no one came for her. Without any information, we knew exactly what to call her. Named because of her unmistakable spots and snorting noises, Moo is the goofiest girl around! All she needs is an active owner, willing to provide the endless belly-rubs she's been yearning for. Whether she's curled up in her kennel or zooming around our fenced fields, Moo always has her favorite toys right by her side! Her rough and tumble play-style keeps us all entertained. After she lets her energy out, she is quick to flop over at your feet for some love! Moo is very food and toy motivated to learn, making her the perfect student. She already knows basic commands and walks well with a harness. She is eager to please her friends and sure to win over your heart. Will you give this sweet girl a chance? **Moo is seeking a home as your only pet! If you are interested in adopting Moo, please submit an adoption questionnaire! ABOUT MILO Meet the goofy, sweet Milo! He is a 1 year old terrier mix that is sure to wiggle his way into your lap. He came to HAP when his owner was no longer able to have a dog. Milo gets very excited to make new friends, so an owner that can keep up with him would be best! He gained notoriety at the shelter for his "many faces of Milo." He has participated in our Doggy Day Out program, check out what our volunteers had to say about him: "Milo is one of my favorite dogs to walk at the shelter! He traveled well in the back of my jeep and enjoyed looking out the window. At the shelter, he could be mouthy but he was so calm outside of the shelter! His facial expressions seemed to change as well, to match his calmer demeanor. He walked well with another HAP dog we took out. He did not have any accidents inside at the two dog friendly establishments we took him to. He chewed sticks/leaves, rolled around in the grass, fetched the fire hose toy, watched the squirrels and even met some chickens. After a nice walk along the bike trail we took him out for some public exposure and his true personality really shined through. He was very well mannered and his tail was wagging almost the entire time. He met lots of people and gave them some kisses. His stunning golden yellow eyes and cute under bite really caught people's attention and he had many compliments on them as well as his well-mannered behavior inside. He took his treats very gently. He met some dogs there and was eager to say hello to them. I think he is another example of a dog that just does not show well at the shelter, but is great in a more normal setting. He is treat motivated, eager to learn, please his people and will be the best he can be. Milo will make a great adult owner dog that you can take with you on adventures!" ABOUT RUSTY Looking for a loyal, lovable Shepherd? Meet Rusty! This handsome boy is a 5-year-old Shepherd mix that LOVES people! Rusty came to HAP when he was found as a stray. We attempted to contact his owners, but unfortunately, they did not come for him. Despite being in a new place, Rusty quickly made friends with our staff and volunteers. In typical shepherd nature, he is very talented at holding a conversation and letting you know what's on his mind. He'll do anything for a game a fetch, and yes, he brings the ball back every time! He's a very smart boy and motivated to learn more tricks. Rusty is leash-trained, house-trained, and knows basic commands. If you're looking for a big boy, with an even bigger heart, then come meet Rusty! While he's only been with us for a short time, he has been out in our Doggy Day Out program nearly a dozen volunteers already! Here's what our volunteers have to say about him: "We had a wonderful day with Rusty yesterday. We took him to visit my parents and he really warms up to people quickly. He has such a pleasant demeanor. We proceeded to take him to the pet store to pick out a treat. He was so well behaved, didn't grab anything and sniffed around the store. We came home to play fetch then relaxed for a bit. He is extremely well trained and terrific with commands. Then we took him for a nice walk. He doesn't pull at all and listens to commands while walking. Rusty would make an excellent addition to any family. He is very loyal to people, extremely gentle and loves to play. This was our second time taking Rusty out and he is just a great dog." - Beth "My friend and I got to take Rusty out today and he is just the sweetest boy! We went for a long walk, and then headed home to play in the backyard. Rusty walked amazing on leash, didn't pull once and stayed right by my side! When we got back, he spent over an hour loving the chance to run around and play fetch. He's really good at always bringing the ball back, he quickly realized if he dropped it we'd throw it again. When we were headed back, he zonked out in the car after all the running around and barely woke up for his pup cup. He was such a sweet boy to spend the day with!" - Kristiana **Rusty is seeking a home as the only pet! ***Rusty is currently in foster with children, doing amazing!
