Story
ABOUT SIR OCHO Sir came to HAP when his owner could no longer care for him. Despite being in the shelter, this guy is just happy to make new friends and soak up some love! Sir was born and raised in a Spanish-speaking household, so all of his commands are in Spanish. We would love to see him adopted by a family who speaks Spanish or is willing to learn a few words so they can communicate with him in the language he understands! At 11 years young, Sir has perfected the art of being the ultimate companion. He’s a cuddly snugglebug who enjoys long naps, leisurely afternoon strolls, and of course, yummy snacks. His calm, laid-back personality means he’s typically indifferent to other animals and is happiest simply relaxing by your side! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
ABOUT PRINCE Prince is a 4-year-old Lab mix with a big head and an even bigger heart. He came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Louisiana when they no longer had space for him. Now, he is ready for a fresh start! He loves greeting people with a stuffed toy in his mouth, proudly showing it off. He enjoys chasing tennis balls, zooming around our fenced fields, and is very eager to learn new things. Prince would thrive in a home that can provide structure, training, and plenty of outlets for his energy! Since Prince is food-motivated, it makes training a fun experience for him, all while keeping his mind busy. Prince is still working on his leash manners when he sees another dog, as he can be reactive. However, he has proven to do better off-leash, in fenced fields. While he isn't aggressive with other dogs, he is a little awkward at times and would likely do best with a more relaxed or laid-back doggy friend. With the right guidance and a safe place to call home, Prince is sure to blossom into a loyal and well-balanced companion! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. Story
ABOUT POPPY This handsome man is a 11-year-old bully mix with the biggest heart. Poppy was found locally as a stray and, sadly, no one came looking for him. Despite being abandoned, Poppy is just thrilled to make new friends wherever he goes. He is partially blind and partially deaf, but he doesn’t let anything slow him down. Recently, he spent an afternoon at 93.7 WSTW's radio station, meeting the team and giving everyone a big smooch! Full of kindness and curiosity, Poppy loves to explore the world and make new friends. Whether he’s enjoying an afternoon stroll or settling in for a long snooze, he’s always a happy guy with a wagging tail and a joyful heart. Though he may need a little help understanding his surroundings, he’s quick to adjust and is easily redirected with a tasty treat. Poppy is incredibly food-motivated, knows basic commands, and walks well on a leash. The only time he barks is when he's gotta go potty or if it's dinner time, he can't let you forget! Poppy is a huge volunteer favorite and even spent some time in a foster home. There, he proved to be non-destructive, house-trained, and a big ole couch potato! His foster had puppy cams to keep an eye on Poppy while at work, and every time he checked, Poppy was happily snoozing or sunbathing! With so much love and live left to offer, Poppy is ready to share his love with the right family, could it be yours? **Poppy is seeking a home as your only pet, without cats or other dogs. Due to his hearing and visual impairments, he would likely do best with older children or adults. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. Story
ABOUT ZEUS Zeus came to HAP after his owner passed away. At 7 years old, adjusting to shelter life after living in a loving home has been challenging for him. However, once he realized we all think he’s the cutest guy, he started to warm up to the place! Zeus has become a bit of a celebrity around HAP. Our animal caretakers often take him on walks through the building, where he happily stops to greet all his human friends. In true bully breed fashion, he can be a little stubborn, he now insists on visiting his friends after his outdoor walks. What can we say? The love has become an essential part of his routine! When he’s not soaking up attention, Zeus is a laid-back, easygoing senior pup who enjoys chewing on bones and going for short, leisurely walks. He is friendly with new people, easily won over by treats, and very affectionate. He enjoys long car rides, showing off his tricks, and melting into his friends for love! Given his age and size, Zeus is a low-maintenance companion who spends most of his day lounging or napping! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals.
