Story
Meet Teddy (Professional Snuggler, Baby-Binky Bandit, and Future Love of Your Life) Teddy is a 4(ish) year old French Bulldog who somehow survived a very unfair start to life and came out the other side as a total lovebug. Found as an emaciated stray with signs of having spent most of his life kenneled (and likely used for backyard breeding), Teddy is now discovering what it means to be a real dog and he's absolutely thriving. If you’re looking for a dog who will love your kids more than your kids love snacks….congratulations, you’ve found your guy. Teddy is: • AMAZING with children of all ages, including infants. • Gentle, kind, and careful around little people • Known to steal baby binkies and attempt to use them himself (we cannot make this up)! • Fully potty trained. • Quiet, affectionate, wonderfully goofy and a certified lap-player. • Comfortable being home alone for 7–8 hours with puzzle toys and rubber toys. • A burrowing champion who sleeps under the covers until he gets warm and starfishes across the bed. • Young, energetic, eager to please, and always ready for his next adventure. During the day, Teddy enjoys short walks, playing fetch with his beloved tennis ball, and helping clean up crumbs left behind by kids (he considers this a vital household chore). At night, he’s a professional cuddler who believes your bed is also his bed. Teddy loves people, loves attention, and believes every visitor came specifically to meet him. He may jump up to say hello (we’re working on his gentleman manners), but his heart is pure joy. Important Teddy "Fine Print" • Does great with other dogs but prefers to enjoy his food, bones, and toys in his own space. If this can’t be accommodated, please take a moment to reconsider whether Teddy would be the best match for your home. • Absolutely NO kennels. Crates cause him major sanxiety and can risk injury to his teeth (we're certain he spent a significant amount of time confined). • Needs to eat separate from other animas and have access to his own cozy, quiet space. • Needs a fenced yard and careful door management (he’s smart, speedy, and has attempted a few door dashes). • He’s is still leary of baths and will tremble. Gentle, patient spa days are required. • Loves stealing baby and kid toys (he considers them premium treasures). • Cats? He has only met one (that we know of) and didn’t seem interested, but we can’t make any promises. Teddy is smart, silly, affectionate, loyal, and incredibly loving. He wasn't provided the kindness he deserved early in life but he's more than ready to give it.. If your home has room for a snuggle-obsessed Frenchie who will steal your heart (and possibly your baby’s pacifier), Teddy is waiting and ready! Teddy is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, 4DX tested, dewormed, and microchipped. Applications to meet Teddy can be submitted at: https://www.aplanimalrescue.org/dogs

Story
Pip is a 4-year old Chocolate Lab and Border Collie mix. I am needing to rehome him due to divorce and no longer being able to give him the life he deserves. Pip was born in Germany in July 2021. He is a good boy and gets along with other dogs and has lived with cats. He goes to the Morgan Creek off leash area often and loves meeting other dogs. He is up to date on all his shots. Pip does have separation anxiety and would do best with a family that has someone who works from home. He would probably love to live on a farm. Please let me know if you have any question or would like to meet him.

Story
Hi, I’m Tango — an 8-year-old Goldendoodle with a golden heart, a goofy grin, and a deep passion for belly rubs, road trips, and balls (especially the squeaky kind). In September 2023, I suffered a spinal stroke that left my back legs paralyzed. My family loved me so much, but they knew I needed more care than they could give, so in April 2024, they entrusted me to the amazing team at APL and that’s when my comeback story really began. Since then, I’ve made incredible, unexpected progress. With regular rehab, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, and lots of encouragement, I’ve gone from scooting to walking with help, and sometimes even on my own! I can cruise around with and without my custom wheels like a champ, especially if there’s a ball to chase or an adventure to be had. Speaking of adventures, I’m always ready to go. I love car rides, public outings, strolls through the park, and pretty much anywhere my people are headed. I’ll happily roll up to a brewery, hop into a café, or join you for a sunny patio lunch. I’m not picky, as long as I’m included. I also happen to be the world’s most enthusiastic ball-chaser. I may have some mobility challenges, but if there’s a ball in play, you better believe I’m going after it. I’ve got a mean fetch game and the determination like no other. People are my other favorite thing. I’m incredibly social, gentle, and friendly with everyone I meet (kids, adults, other dogs...) I’m just happy to be part of the fun. I don’t chew things I shouldn’t, and I’m always ready to cuddle. I do need a little help with potty time a few times a day, but I’ve even started doing that more on my own lately. The APL crew will show you the ropes, and it’s easier than you might think. I'm looking for a family that sees beyond my different abilities and appreciates my incredible spirit. A household that's patient, loving, and ready to welcome me, despite my need for a bit more care. I promise to reward you with boundless love and joy and be your best companion by stealing your heart from the moment you meet me. If you're looking for a loyal, loving sidekick with a story of resilience, a wag that never quits, and a suitcase packed for life’s next big adventure — I’m your guy. So, what do you say? Want to roll through life with me? Tango is up to date on vaccinations, 4DX tested, microchipped and neutered. He will come with all his cool gadgets so you can easily take him along on adventures. Applications to meet Tango can be submitted at: https://www.aplanimalrescue.org/dogs

Story
Mickey came to me as a temporary foster, turned long term foster. He is between 8-10 years old. He’s a friendly dog that loves attention. Mickey does well with other dogs but not cats. He is reactive to noises. He is known for chasing squirrels or other animals outside, so he would do best with a fenced in yard and a single family home.

Story
Shiba was a rescue found on the streets back in 2016, this puts her estimated age around 10 years old. She gets along well with our pomeranian, and our oldest husky mix but not our Shiba Inu therefore we are looking for a new home for her where she will get the attention and exercise she needs. She has never had any medical issues and is extremely fit, she knows basic commands and is very well behaved on walks. Message me to set up a time to meet Shiba and see if she will be the right fit for you!

Schnauzer (Miniature)

Male, Adult
Cedar Rapids, IA
Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Jax is a 5 year old male white mini schnauzer. He has lived with us since he was 8 weeks old. He has anxiety and would be better suited in a home where there is not alot of action going on and someone can be with him more than we are. He needs someone who can devote time to working with him and is patient with his anxiety. We feel like he'd do best as the only dog in the home but he can be with other dogs too. He's never been around cats. We have teenagers and he's great with them and has been around small children but is scared of them so small children won't be a good fit. All that said he is actually the sweetest dog and super cuddly. He just doesnt like alot of coming and going and house guests. It would have to be the right situation for him to be in or it won't work. He isn't aggressive but does bark alot when he's worked up. He is house trained very well and kennel trained. If this sounds like a good fit please reach out. We won't let him go to just anyone.
