Story
Meet Waldon — A Whole Lot of Fun Ready to Shine Waldon is an active, energetic dog who is full of personality and enthusiasm. He has previously lived with children, cats, and dogs, though those environments proved to be very overwhelming for him. In the shelter, it’s clear that Waldon has a big zest for life and plenty of energy to share. He’s a dog who has heard “no” often without always being shown what to do instead, and he’s still learning how to navigate the world around him. Waldon brings a lot of excitement and joy to everything he does—he truly is the definition of “too much fun” in the best way.Waldon would love a home where he can be the center of attention and given the time, patience, and guidance to learn what’s expected of him. An active, outdoorsy lifestyle will help him channel his energy in positive ways, whether that’s through adventures, play, or enrichment activities. A consistent routine and positive reinforcement will go a long way in helping him succeed. Providing him with clear guidance, outlets for his energy, and plenty of opportunities to learn will allow Waldon to thrive and show just how amazing he can be.Behavior and personality assessment is based on information provided by previous owner(s) and/or observations in a shelter environment and may not accurately reflect the pet’s behavior in your home.

Story
Kaiser — A Thoughtful, Loyal Companion Kaiser’s story is one of resilience, patience, and quiet progress. Since arriving at GAHS as a young dog, he’s shown us how deeply he bonds with the people he trusts and how much he thrives with structure, consistency, and gentle guidance. In the shelter, Kaiser has been cautious around new people and unfamiliar situations, but with patience, positive reinforcement, and a predictable routine, he has blossomed into a loving, playful, and loyal companion. He enjoys daily walks, sniffing adventures, enrichment activities, car rides, and tennis balls, and he responds beautifully to calm, low-stress environments that allow him to explore and engage at his own pace.Kaiser will do best in a calm, adult-only home where he can be the only pet. He needs a low-traffic environment without frequent visitors or loud activity, and a family experienced with sensitive dogs who can read his body language and move at his pace. Working with a certified, positive reinforcement–based trainer will help him continue building confidence and navigating new experiences successfully. For the right adopter, Kaiser will be a deeply rewarding companion, offering affection, loyalty, and quiet joy every day.Behavior and personality assessment is based on information provided by previous owner(s) and/or observations in a shelter environment and may not accurately reflect the pet’s behavior in your home.

Story
Meet Lucy — A Growing Puppy with a Big Future Ahead Lucy is a young bully breed mix looking for a home filled with fun, love, and adventure. This sweet girl is still very much a baby and is just beginning to learn about the world around her. She was surrendered when her family realized they weren`t able to keep up with the needs of a rapidly growing puppy. Because she hasn`t had much exposure to new experiences yet, some things can make her a little nervous at first. Luckily, a few kind words and a proper baby voice are usually all it takes to win her over and bring out her sweet, affectionate personality.Lucy is looking for a family that is excited about all the joys and challenges of raising a puppy. She will need help with the basics, including potty training, socialization, leash skills, and learning good manners as she grows. She has lived with cats before, but she hasn`t yet learned how to respectfully coexist with them and will need guidance if she shares a home with feline friends in the future. With patience, consistency, training, and lots of love, Lucy has all the potential to grow into a wonderful companion. If you`re ready for puppy adventures, goofy moments, and watching a young dog learn and thrive, Lucy is ready to start that journey with you. Behavior and personality assessment is based on information provided by previous owner(s) and/or observations in a shelter environment and may not accurately reflect the pet`s behavior in your home.

Story
Meet Duke!Weight: 87 lbs Large and in charge Mr. Duke is ready to find his match, Duke made his way to us due to no fault of his own and is such a good boy! Duke is looking for an active household, one that wants a canine friend to tag along on all the outside adventures. Duke can be a little nervous at first but quickly warms up and is very food motivated. Duke knows sit, paw and down and walks great on leash. A home outside of city limits and in a more quiet rural-like area would be best for Mr. Duke! Duke has lived with other dogs before and did well and we`d want him to meet all canine siblings prior to going home, he`s also lived with felines (1-2) before and chickens (that were couped up) and did fine. Duke would be best fit with teenagers and in a lower foot traffic household, our staff will be happy to discuss introductions with Duke and feline/canine friends in home, to help set everyone up for success! Duke looks forward to meeting you!

Story
Meet Jackson — Learning the World One Step at a Time Jackson is a young dog who is just beginning to explore and understand the world around him. Like many adolescent dogs, he’s still building confidence, and new experiences can sometimes feel overwhelming at first. When Jackson first arrived, many everyday things felt scary and unfamiliar, but with patience, gentle support, and time, he has made incredible progress in the shelter. We’ve watched his confidence steadily grow as he’s learned to trust the people around him and feel safer navigating new situations. Jackson has formed strong bonds with a small circle of trusted people, and once you’re in that circle, he is incredibly sweet, cuddly, and loving. He does best in calm, quiet environments where interactions move at his pace and where his space and boundaries are respected.Jackson is looking for a patient, understanding home that will continue helping him build on all the progress he’s already made. While he has come so far, it’s important that his confidence-building journey continues after adoption through gentle routines, positive experiences, and allowing him to approach new things when he feels ready. Jackson may benefit from living with a calm, well-balanced dog who can help model positive behaviors and show him the ropes. He may also need multiple visits before going home to ensure he feels comfortable with his new family and environment. With time, patience, and trust, Jackson is ready to continue blossoming into the wonderful dog we know he can be. Story
Meet Hornberg — A Clever Companion Who Appreciates the Quiet LifeHornberg originally came to us as a stray last year and was quickly adopted into a loving home where he got to experience all kinds of adventures. During his time there, he learned some impressive tricks and showed off just how smart he is. His favorite party trick? Balancing a ball on his nose, tossing it into the air, and catching it himself! Hornberg is a bright, thoughtful dog who enjoys spending time with his people and using his brain just as much as his body.Over the past year, his family`s household changed and grew, and the addition of a baby and a puppy proved to be a little too much for Hornberg. He`s happiest in a home that values peace, quiet, and personal space. Hornberg could potentially live with other animals or children, but they will need to share his calm demeanor and have a strong understanding of boundaries and respectful interactions. He is looking for a home where he can relax, enjoy life`s adventures at his own pace, and continue being the smart, loyal companion his previous family knew and loved.
