Story
Hi my name is Kai. I am a 1.5 years old. I love to cuddle and play with my humans but other dogs as well. I love kids! & cats are alright too :) I have some anxiety but please be patient with me. With hard work and dedication we can both overcome this together! I lunge & nip at times but it’s not to hurt you, it’s just to let you know when something bothers me. I am crate & house trained. Can’t be left out of crate when home alone so please make sure I have treats & toys to make me happy and distracted. I love to sleep under the blanket at night and cuddle up with my humans. It makes me feel safe. Car rides make me nervous so I may not always be up to it! Thanks for being interested in me & can’t wait to find my forever home.

Story
It’s time to reintroduce you to Allie – Our Playful, Loving Goofball Seeking Her Perfect Match! ??Get ready to fall in love with Allie, a young pup brimming with affection, a tail that never stops wagging, and the most endearing zoomies you`ve ever seen! She`s a goofy, cuddly sweetheart who lives to brighten your day.Allie`s journey to happiness hasn`t been easy. She didn`t get the strong foundation every puppy needs, and that left her a bit unsure of how to navigate the world. But thanks to the incredible care of her loving foster home and the dedicated work of our GAHS staff since her return, she`s made `giant strides` and is blossoming into the amazing dog she`s meant to be! As her foster mom shares, `Once you crack the shell, she is a happy, sweet girl with sooo much potential.`This beautiful girl is searching for a family who celebrates her progress and sees her incredible potential. In return, she promises endless love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. We believe Allie would shine brightest in a home with a confident dog friend (she loves other dogs!), possibly a dog-savvy cat and kids aged 12 and up. Yes, Allie has big feelings and lots of energy. She needs structure, routine, and continued support with her training and triggers. But underneath it all is an eager-to-please pup who thrives on patience and love. She`s working hard and gaining confidence every single day!Can you help Allie find her match? If you think you could be the right fit, please fill out an adoption survey. If you can`t offer her the home she needs, sharing her story far and wide is a wonderful way to help. Let`s help our wonderful long-term resident find the loving home she deserves!

Story
Meet Thin Mint! Thin Mint came to us as a wandering adventurer, but she’s now ready to find a forever home where she can settle in and be loved! This girl adores her stuffy toys—carrying them, tossing them, and even tucking them in for naps. If you’re missing a plushie, check her bed first! She’s a lively, talkative pup who loves to be in on the action. If you’re looking for a dog with personality and energy to match, Thin Mint is your girl! She has made dog friends at the shelter and may enjoy a dog sibling with slow, proper introductions. She is too intense for cats however and will need a cat free home. Because of her enthusiasm and excitement for life, we think she’d do best with kids 10 and up.Interested? We ask that the whole family—including any potential dog siblings—come in to meet Thin Mint before adoption.

Story
Meet Duke!Weight: 87 lbs Large and in charge Mr. Duke is ready to find his match, Duke made his way to us due to no fault of his own and is such a good boy! Duke is looking for an active household, one that wants a canine friend to tag along on all the outside adventures. Duke can be a little nervous at first but quickly warms up and is very food motivated. Duke knows sit, paw and down and walks great on leash. A home outside of city limits and in a more quiet rural-like area would be best for Mr. Duke! Duke has lived with other dogs before and did well and we`d want him to meet all canine siblings prior to going home, he`s also lived with felines (1-2) before and chickens (that were couped up) and did fine. Duke would be best fit with teenagers and in a lower foot traffic household, our staff will be happy to discuss introductions with Duke and feline/canine friends in home, to help set everyone up for success! Duke looks forward to meeting you!

Story
Say Hello to Chico! Looking for a loyal little shadow with a heart full of love and a lot to say? Meet Chico, a small but mighty bundle of personality who’s ready to find his forever home!Chico is a talkative little guy who’s never short on opinions—whether he`s chatting about snack time, belly rubs, or the mysterious squirrel he spotted three hours ago. He’s got a voice and he’s not afraid to use it (don’t worry, it’s adorable)!Though he may be a bit nervous when meeting new people, Chico warms up quickly with some patience, kindness, and—let’s be honest—a couple of tasty treats. Once he feels safe, his confidence blooms and his goofy, affectionate side shines bright. He loves to cuddle up close and will happily be your snuggle buddy on the couch, your cheerleader in the kitchen, and your sidekick wherever you go.Chico is still learning the ropes when it comes to socializing. He’s working on building his confidence around other dogs and cats and would do best with a slow introduction to any animal companions. With the right guidance, he’s well on his way to being a friendly member of the pack. He’d thrive in a calm, loving home with people who understand that sometimes small dogs have big feelings—and even bigger hearts. In return, Chico promises to be your most loyal companion, your source of endless cuddles, and your personal little comedian. If you’ve got a cozy spot on your lap and a lot of love to give, Chico is ready to fill your life with joy, laughter, and plenty of tail wags. Adopt Chico—because every great story starts with a little dog and a big adventure.
