Story
Jojo joined our family in 2018 after we adopted her from the Animal Refuge League in Westbrook, Maine. From the start, she has been an energetic and adventurous dog who loves staying active. She enjoys runs, long walks, and hopping in the car for a drive to explore and sightsee. After a day of adventures, Jojo’s favorite thing is curling up with a cozy blanket and relaxing next to the people she loves. Over the years our family has grown, and our home has become much busier. Unfortunately, Jojo has had a hard time adjusting to the changes and new dynamics. Because of this, we are hoping to find her a home where she can truly thrive again. Jojo would do best in a place where she can get plenty of attention, stay active, and be the center of someone’s world. She has so much love to give and will make a loyal companion for the right person or family. Letting her go is difficult, but we want to find the best possible home for her.

Story
Mr. Bob may be small in stature, but he carries the heart and wisdom of an old soul. This 5-year-old Chihuahua began life in a crowded backyard breeding situation, one of 17 little dogs trying to make sense of a world that didn’t offer much comfort. When he was finally relinquished and welcomed into rescue, everything changed — though for Mr. Bob, change takes time.   At 22 pounds (with about five to shed), this sturdy little gentleman is working toward a healthier lifestyle with proper diet and gentle exercise. But while his body is solid, his heart is tender and still learning to trust this brand-new chapter.   Mr. Bob is shy, soft-eyed, and deeply observant. He’s the kind of dog who quietly studies his surroundings, trying to understand how he got so lucky to land in a calm, loving foster home. He’s discovering that kind hands, cozy beds, and soft voices are not temporary — they’re his new normal.   He has proven to be gentle and patient with children and small dogs, though he does appreciate having his own peaceful corner to nap undisturbed. After years of living among too many dogs in a chaotic space, personal room to relax is something he treasures. He absolutely loves to cuddle and prefers to sleep close to his human at night. Fully crate trained, he sleeps soundly without a peep.   The leash is still a mystery to him and a bit frightening. He prefers quick potty breaks and then hustling back inside where he feels safe. We suspect he never had much outdoor experience before. With patience and reassurance, he will continue building confidence at his own pace.   Mr. Bob would thrive either as an only dog or with just one calm companion. More than anything, he longs for a steady, devoted person who will be his life coach — someone with patience, understanding, and unconditional love to help him blossom.   He doesn’t need chaos. He doesn’t need adventure. He just needs someone who sees the quiet beauty in a shy little soul learning how to trust.   If you feel called to give Mr. Bob the safe, gentle future he deserves, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.         PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 7, 2026, 12:24 pm

Story
Tink’s story didn’t begin the way any young dog’s should — but we believe her best chapter is still waiting to be written very soon now that she is in the care of Critter Cavalry Rescue.  At just two years old, this striking blue-eyed Australian Shepherd girl has already experienced motherhood and heartbreak. She gave birth to a litter of puppies on Thanksgiving Day, nurturing them with devotion. But by Valentine’s weekend, her own world changed. When her owner suffered a stroke and was hospitalized in ICU, Tink was left confined inside a camper for four long days, alone and unsure. It would be understandable if that experience made her fearful or withdrawn. Instead, Tink emerged gentle, loving, and incredibly devoted to people. Currently weighing 38 pounds (and needing about five more to reach her ideal weight), Tink is a petite Aussie with a soft and gentle temperament and a playful streak. She absolutely adores children and has a naturally sweet, careful way about her. She loves playing fetch, going on walks, and burning off her energy in a securely fenced yard — which is a must for this active, intelligent breed.   Tink is mostly housebroken and simply needs the consistency of a routine. She does well in a crate and walks nicely on leash. We are currently evaluating her with other submissive dogs, as a recent attempt to pair her with a strong alpha female was not a good fit — which is understandable after all she’s been through. She may truly shine as the center of someone’s world. Tink has proven she is resilient. She has proven she is loving. Now she just needs someone who will prove to her that she will never be left behind again. If you feel your home might be the safe and steady future this beautiful girl deserves, please email Critter Cavalry at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us your city and state. Tink is ready to begin again — this time, forever.

Story
Sunny Needs a Hero This young 1 year old, 30 pounds Terrier mix boy has been through a super tough first year that reads like one of those rescue stories that breaks your heart.  Sunny’s is definitely one of those. This sweet boy was abandoned in the middle of nowhere with his family of dogs, left to fend for themselves against the elements, starvation, and predators. Tragically, Sunny was the only survivor. By the time rescuers with Critter Cavalry found him, he was terrified and had to be trapped just to bring him to safety. We don’t know where he came from, but we know what life had been like for him—at best, he was neglected, and at worst, he suffered cruelty. Love, comfort, and security were things he had never known but he does now and he thriving and getting more at ease every day.  He has come so far! The Journey to Trust In his foster home, after much patience and gentle care, Sunny began to trust. At first, he kept his distance, but with space, understanding, and (most importantly) lots and lots of treats, he started to come out of his shell. He found comfort in the other dogs and even the cats in his home, but learning to love people took longer. Over time, he discovered that belly rubs were amazing, snuggling was safe, and that going outside to potty and coming back when called was something he could do without fear. Sunny had been nervous with men but now with a slow approach he is accepting their kindness and petting.  He loves being with the cats especially in the foster home and will sleep with them.  We love that!!!   He looks up to other older dogs and follows their confident actions as we had hoped he would. All Sunny needs is a HERO to give him love and a stable forever home. He needs a true  HERO—someone willing to meet him where he is and show him, day by day, that he is safe and loved. What Sunny Needs in a Home &#226&#156&#148 A quiet, patient, and understanding adopter – Someone who won’t rush him but will let him bloom at his own pace.&#226&#156&#148 A home with another friendly, confident dog – He takes comfort in his canine friends and learns by watching them.&#226&#156&#148 A calm, steady environment – He does best with routine and minimal chaos.&#226&#156&#148 A household without young children under 10 years – He needs a peaceful space where he can feel secure. &#226&#156&#148 A female adopter or a home where he can bond gradually with any of the men – He typically trusts women more easily but is now demonstrating his acceptance of gentle males. &#226&#156&#168 The Reward? Watching a broken soul learn to trust, to love, and to finally be happy. There’s nothing more beautiful than for us to slowly see true happiness and the light come back into Sunny’s eyes.  He is almost there but he does need that final step to someone who is committed to his care and his love.  He is If you have a heart big enough to give this boy the time and love he deserves, please reach out. Sunny is waiting for someone to change his life forever. Could that be you?  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and let us know more about you and then let’s talk!!! Story
Maja is a nine-month-old Great Pyrenees girl with long legs, a tender heart, and the kind of calm beauty that makes you slow down just by being near her. Currently about 70 pounds and still underweight, she’s growing into the majestic dog she was always meant to be, with an expected adult size around 90 pounds. Her name, Maja, is Swedish for “beautiful girl,” and it fits her perfectly—inside and out. Her early life wasn’t what it should have been. She came from a farming family who could no longer care for her and chose to let her wander rather than protect her. When she was found and the owners declined to take her back, Maja found herself in a shelter, quietly waiting. Critter Cavalry Rescue saw her gentle spirit and stepped in, placing her with a foster family experienced with Great Pyrenees who immediately recognized what a rare and lovely soul she is. Maja is everything people adore about her breed—easygoing, calm, and deeply gentle. She moves through life with a soft presence, never destructive, never demanding, just quietly grateful to be included. Having never lived indoors before January 22, everything is new to her, and she’s taking it all in with grace. House training is a work in progress, but she’s learning at her own steady pace, and her foster family is helping her understand what life inside a home feels like. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and is currently living peacefully with a cat, enjoying the comfort of companionship. Maja loves belly rubs and couch cuddles, and she’s already figured out that being close to her people is one of life’s greatest joys. She enjoys the outdoors, as Great Pyrenees do, but happily comes inside when invited, content to settle in and relax. Toys are a brand-new concept for her, and watching her discover play has been nothing short of heart-melting. She has started offering gentle play bows and exploring what it means to have fun with her humans. True to her breed, she has a touch of independence and occasional selective listening, but it’s wrapped in kindness and calm, never chaos. Maja is tall, elegant, and exceptionally kind in her interactions with people, children, and other animals. She carries no emotional scars from her past—just an open heart and a quiet readiness to belong. She will be a treasure to the family who welcomes her, an easy dog to love, and a loyal companion who brings peace into a home simply by being herself. Maja is ready for her forever family and a life filled with safety, patience, and affection. She has so much love to give, and she’s waiting for someone who sees not just her beauty, but the gentle soul behind it. If you are interested in this beauty, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.   please let us know what city and state you live in as we adopt to Tennessee residents where we are based and also to the Northeast states where we transport weekly. Story
Ruthie is a 2-year-old, 60-lb Boxer mix with a gentle soul and a brilliant mind. Before coming into rescue, Ruthie lived on her own for at least 6 months, skillfully evading capture, multiple trapping attempts, and surviving in an industrial area of town. Fed by kind mechanics and workers, she learned how to stay safe, avoid danger, and always show up for food — and that intelligence still shines through today. After a dramatic capture, Ruthie has been in a foster home, where she’s proven to be a very polite houseguest. She is fully house-trained and, even at her scariest moments, has never shown a hint of aggression — no growling, no raised lips, just fear. Ruthie is shy and deeply cautious with people, but she is sweet, gentle, and incredibly observant. We would not be surprised if Ruthie spent some of her life in someone’s home.  This brainy girl reads the room like a pro. She knows when a human might approach and will quietly skedaddle to keep herself feeling safe. While she’s still very nervous about leashes and handling, she allows most people to gently scratch her muzzle, and she’s learning — slowly but surely — that human touch isn’t such a bad thing. Watching her progress has been incredibly rewarding, especially as she’s started to enjoy ear scratches and soft affection from her foster mom. Ruthie is a great pack dog. She does beautifully with dogs of all sizes and temperaments and enjoys playful wrestling with dogs her size, but doesn’t demand play.  She happily coexists with the resident Chihuahua in her foster home. Ruthie is calm and content indoors and also enjoys a daily visit to the dog park. She’s a quiet presence who’s perfectly happy lounging on a chair, listening to her foster mom’s Zoom calls, and soaking in the safety of home life. At home, Ruthie is her foster mom’s quiet shadow. She sleeps in her room, wiggles with excitement when she comes home, follows her around the dog park — and yet may still hop off her bed and slip away if that same foster mom walks toward her for a pet. With Ruthie, trust is built in tiny, meaningful moments, and every day brings progress. Because of her history, Ruthie is a high flight-risk dog, especially in the early days. She will need a very committed adopter with a securely fenced yard, experience with fearful or flight-risk dogs, and a willingness to use safety tools like GPS collars, double leashes, and secure handling. Strength matters too — this is a 60-lb girl who needs someone confident and prepared. Ruthie has been around children at the dog park and treats them like little adults — with polite, reserved hesitation. She is food-motivated, sweet, and incredibly smart. With patience, structure, and time, she has all the makings of a truly special companion. Ruthie is one of those dogs who, with the right adopter and a few committed months of trust-building, will become a dream dog. Watching her finally relax, feel safe, and just be a dog has been an absolute privilege — and we can’t wait to see her find the forever home she deserves. ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 7, 2026, 12:24 pm
