Story
Paddy is a neutered male, Yorkshire Terrier mix puppy DOB July 29/24, current weight approx 6kg He was adopted briefly but was returned to our care when the dogs in his new home were not at all a good fit , despite initial meetings going well. Paddy has been back with his original foster for a few weeks now, has attended additional training classes and settled back in nicely. He is now ready to find his forever home Paddy's ideal forever home criteria *Either as a single dog with no cats in the home, or with another suitable canine companion who enjoys playful small dogs and will engage in playtime happily, but is a calm, respectful dog that will allow Paddy to initiate play. We would consider a family without another dog if they are dog savvy and home often to meet his mental stimulation and training needs. *Children must be over 10yrs, respectful and dog savvy with previous experience with dogs in the home. * Mandatory registration with an approved trainer is required to set Paddy up for success with his new family. Paddy has already completed two training courses and has shown himself to be a quick learner. *Inground/ground level Pools and deeper ponds must be separately fenced from yard * Someone home often due to his young age * Due to his young age/life expectancy, he is not a suitable match for older seniors. Our goal for every dog is to be able to live a full life in their forever home without ever having to be rehomed Your foster dog's energy level: Medium-High Paddy will wake up on your schedule, he's not one to sleep in on his own. We take Paddy out first thing in the morning for a pee. In the mornings, he loves to snuggled and play with toys on the couch with us. Before breakfast we either take Paddy out for a short walk or play in the backyard--- he loves to play and go on adventures. Paddy is a great eater--- he lovesssss food! After breakfast, its back outside to do his business. I work from home and Paddy is happy to sleep in the dog bed beside my desk while I work. I take him back outside during my lunch break--- he will run around and explore and play with the other dogs. In the afternoon he settles right back down and naps in his bed. We try and integrate some training throughout the day like practicing "touch", "sit" and "wait". Paddy goes outside for another pee then has dinner. Evenings are when Paddy really loves to get going! We take him for a longer walk or play outside in the yard. Once back inside, Paddy with typically play with a toy on his own--- he's very good at tossing them around himself and chasing them! We take him out one last time before bed then bring him upstairs. Paddy likes to sleep on the bed by your legs. Is your foster dog food motivated? Paddy is very food motivated. Good with dogs ? Paddy is friends with the dogs in my house. He lovesssss to play with them however upon being returned to Hobo Haven, through no fault of his own, Paddy is now apprehensive with outgoing playful dogs he doesn't know. He is fine with laidback dogs or dogs that will play when HE initiates it. We have introduced Paddy to several dogs since being returned, it took him longer to relax around dogs who were more playful and bouncy but he relaxed quite quickly around dogs who weren't interested in him. Some dogs that he meets are not at all a good fit. Paddy will need work on his confidence and exposure to positive interactions to help him over his apprehensiveness and help him be successful in his life. Paddy is a people dog-- he loves everyone! Every human is a new best friend. Good with cats? Paddy is not a good fit for a home with cats or other small animals. Paddy has not displayed any guarding behaviours. Housetrained? No Crate trained? No Please elaborate on your foster dog's behavior in the crate. Paddy stresses badly if crated, but does well left loose in a dog proofed environment I leave my foster dog alone for ___h per day. 3 Does your foster dog show signs of separation anxiety? No Paddy is a good little walker. We are still working on leash skills but so far he has been doing great! He is still nervous and easily spooked on busy streets, and does much better walking on trails and in quieter areas without alot of vehicles and other loud noises. How does your foster dog react when you touch the ears, tail, paws etc. Please elaborate. Paddy is fine with touching his paws and tail but is very fussy and squirmy when you try clean his eyes and ears. He is food motivated so we try to distract him give him treats to make it positive when we need to tidy him up. He also doesn't enjoy being brushed which is a challenge with a poodle mix coat-- brushing is essential! Again, positive experiences will help him learn that brushing is fun! Paddy is the HAPPIEST dog I've ever fostered. He is a huge sweetheart that just loves to play and be with you. He gets so excited to see us even if we've only left for a few minutes. He has a lot of energy, keeping him occupied with toys, chewies, walks and play is important. Areas needing improvement - Paddy needs further positive reinforcement for accepting bushing and eye cleaning - Paddy needs to build up his confidence so he is less fearful around bouncy / outgoing new dogs - Paddy is still learning to do the stairs and needs to be carried up and down but has started to use the stairs with training - Paddy still has accidents in the house if not taken out at regular intervals or if he is bored - Paddy loves putting on his harness but gets very skittish when it comes to taking it off- positive reinforcement and treats will help this - Paddy gets very excited when you come home, he will bark Medical- Paddy's left eye has a congenital defect making it appear cloudy in the center. This doesn't slow him down in anyway and it does not seem to impact his vision in any noticeable way. Food amount/type: Paddy eats 1/4 of a raw patty three times a day. Feeding routines: Paddy eats at 8am, between noon and 1pm and at 6:30pm. Potty habits: We try to put Paddy out at regular intervals, about every 3 hours or sooner if he gets up and starts sniffing around. He sometimes gets up in the night to pee but removing water after dinner does help this. Skills/Commands Sit? Yes Stay? Yes Wait? Yes Lay Down? No Leave It? No Off? No Down? No Come? Yes Any other skills/commands? Paddy also knows "touch" Paddy would love a home where he is welcome to sleep on the bed and snuggle on the furniture with his family. Some nights he does sleep on his bed on the floor but majority of the time he likes to sleep cuddled against your legs. Strengths/areas they have improved on: Paddy fell right back into his routine when he rejoined us. It was reassuring to see that in the right home he is quickly a happy, fun loving, confident guy. With positive interactions, Paddy very quickly relaxed around our other foster puppy who he was very unsure about at first. We have not experienced any motion sickness or anxiety in vehicles. Paddy's ideal home is with a family who understands he has things he needs to improve upon and is willing to make sure he has the right exposure and training to set him up for success. Paddy needs a family that is active and will take him on regular walks, out on adventures and play with him inside and in the yard. As a young pup it is important he be (positively) exposed to lots of new places, people and situations. Adoption Fee REDUCED due to Paddy's limited vision in one eye which hasn't slowed him down at all $650-includes vaccinations, microchip, neuter surgery, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention Hobo Haven is located in St Jacobs Ontario. For approved families, we require in person meetings in St Jacobs ON If you are not willing to drive to this location to meet our dogs after you are approved, please do not apply. Story
Meet Flossi: Bichon Frise female, spayed, 7yrs young Introducing Flossi! She is a precious, shy 7yrs young Bichon Frise female who was surrendered to our rescue by a commercial breeder when they retired her from their breeding program Current weight 13lbs, Flossi is a wee girl who is still learning that humans can be kind and safe and provide TLC and patience, after her previous life was certainly not kind to her. View more photos and videos in her album here https://tinyurl.com/Flossi-album Flossi is still cautiously exploring her world and slowing blossoming to learn to trust people and be more brave in new environments. She requires a patient, calm family whom will allow her to come to you as her confidence grows, and to work with her socialization with love and kindness. MANDATORY for her new forever home *Fully fenced yard/full supervision in person during outside time. Flossi is too timid to walk on leash yet She cannot be put out on a tie out nor live in a home with a dog door or unfenced pool. * Mandatory to have another gentle dog in her new home to help her confidence and companionship needs Flossi is being fostered with two other small breed dogs and two cats, she is fine with them but she would not appreciate a dog who is in her face or pawing at her etc. * Flossi requires a home without children due to her timid nature *Due to her breed life expectancy of up to 16yrs, she is not a suitable match for older seniors. Our goal for every dog is to be able to live a full life in their forever home without ever having to be rehomed. Flossi has now been spayed, microchipped, had her bloodwork done, negative for heartworm and all tick diseases, and up to date on her vaccinations. Flea/tick prevention and fecal tested negative for parasites Flossi has also completed her dental cleaning and removal of any decayed teeth Notes from Flossi's foster: Energy level: low to moderate She always wakes up between 7:30 and 7:45 every day. We get up , she goes into the Livingroom – pee pads are here. While we make every effort to housetrain the dogs in our care, Flossi is still learning and due to her timid nature, she has pee pads as an option to help direct her to appropriate areas until she is able to be harnessed for outside potty breaks throughout each day. Has breakfast, small nap or runs around, we go outside weather permitting, treats, afternoon is a game lick pad, puzzle, out a few more times always with harness and leash, supper, outside again then bed, She sleeps through the night Is your foster dog food motivated? very She has been very good with my 2 dogs and 2 cats from the start How does your foster dog respond to meeting new people in their home environment and outside of the home? She gets spooked and hides but then peeks around the corner and comes part way to check them out. Good with cats? very Any guarding behaviours -none but she tends to try to steal treats from the other 2. They let her Housetrained? No Crate trained? Yes-will tolerate sleeping in it but wants out by 7 am. Barks and howls if she isn’t let out Flossi does much better being alone if she has the other dogs for companionship. If the dogs and I are not there she barks after about 2 min. No problems if I am out and she has the dogs for company. She is fine being left uncrated while I am gone, using baby gates to limit access to just the living and diningrooms. Flossi cannot do stairs yet. Leash skills: Flossi is not yet confident enough for walks. When we go out to the patio, she is harnessed and leashed but more focused on keeping away from me She cannot be let out into the yard without harness/leash as you would not be able to catch her to bring her back inside How does she respond to handling/grooming: Once I coral her and pick her up there is no issue touching petting etc, she gets spooked if you try otherwise. This is getting better slightly easier to be able to pick her up as she learns to feel safer. Current personality/temperament Laid back, calm but always ready to react to movement by avoidance I believe she has the potential to be a loving cuddle bug with the right family who will be patient and earn her trust. Flossi is currently being treated for an ear infection which is improving with daily cleaning and medicated treatments. Potty habits: on pee pads most of the time She doesn’t respond to commands yet but will come if you call her and hold your hand out with a treat. Please describe current routines and preferences that will help the dog settle into their new home: Right now, she is too fearful for training and moving to a permanent home could cause more anxiety. She requires a family whom is experienced with timid dogs and allows her to come around on her own time Strengths/areas they have improved on: confidence in voicing her wants - lets me know meals are late Transportation-any motion sickness or anxiety in vehicles? Flossi is a very good traveller crated All dogs are placed in loving foster homes during their time with us, we do not have a shelter to visit. We do not allow applicants to meet dogs until pre-approved for adoptions since they are living in private family homes. Please note that only those whom we feel are an ideal match will be contacted to move to the next steps of our application screening process *Must be located within Ontario Canada *Inground/ground level Pools and deeper ponds must be separately fenced from yard Hobo Haven is located in St Jacobs Ontario. For approved families, we require in person meetings in St Jacobs ON Adoptions within Ontario only Please use this link to submit an application https://hobohavenrescue.ca/dog-adoption-application Adoption fee Flossi's adoption fee is reduced to $600 (reg $800) due to her timid nature Adoption fees include spay, dental, microchip, bloodwork, vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and all vet care, food and supplies during their time with us. We require all serious applicants to watched "Petfooled" which is a free documentary at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XC1rUWWnxI , or on Amazon prime or also a variety of other free video sites. Our motto is "know better/do better" and we ask all adoptive families to be as committed to providing our dogs with quality nutrition as they are to providing love. This documentary is not advertising, purely just educational. An adoption application must be completed and approved, including vet references as well as a home visit (Zoom during COVID), prior to meeting available dogs

Story
Aloha! My name is Nani, just like Lilo’s big sister! I’m a super sweet and affectionate girl who’s still learning how to be brave in this big, wide world. Just like Stitch when he first landed on Earth, everything feels a little scary and unfamiliar right now. But the kind “ohana” (that’s what the staff here are!) are helping me learn that it’s okay to take things one step at a time. When I’m outside, I turn into a total goofball! Rolling around in the grass and snuggling up to the staff is my favorite thing ever. I’m always trying to wiggle into their laps or flop over with my tummy up, hoping for some well-deserved belly rubs.I’m dreaming of finding my own quiet little “ohana”, a home where I can feel safe, loved, and slowly build up my confidence.
