Story
Buddy is a superactive, playful, and social Labradoodle who thrives on activity and interaction. He loves walks, playing fetch, and splashing in water, his absolute favorite activity. With his lively, outgoing personality and boundless curiosity, Buddy brings excitement and joy to every game, making him a fun-loving, loyal companion for an active family. His daily routine includes waking up around 7-8 a.m., going for a walk and nature call, then enjoying breakfast and relaxation. He spends his day exploring the backyard, having a snack, resting, and winding down after dinner and an evening walk, usually sleeping by 7-8 p.m. Buddy would do best in an active household with a backyard, though he can adapt to other settings with regular morning and evening walks. He's great with both young and older kids, making him a wonderful family companion. He's trained in basic commands, crate-trained, and well-behaved with no separation anxiety.

Story
Meet Moxi: Female French Bulldog/Boston Terrier mix puppy Introducing spunky, feisty yet sweet Moxi who truly lives up to her name. DOB Aug 16, 2025, Moxi was surrendered to our rescue by a commercial breeder due to her blindness in one eye. View Moxi's full photo album and videos here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=hobohavenrescue&set=a.782761874374441 PLEASE READ OUR PUPPY ADOPTION POLICY HERE BEFORE APPLYING https://hobohavenrescue.ca/puppy-adoption-policy NO EXCEPTIONS Adoption Fee REDUCED to $500 due to her blindness in one eye (reg $850) -includes vaccinations, microchip, spay surgery (when age appropriate at our expense), deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention and all vet care, food and supplies during their time with us. We have also spent quite a lot on Moxi's ophthalmology appts, testing and assessments. Energy Level: High Personality: Happy, affectionate, cuddly, very high energy, and very playful. Suitability: Moxi is very high energy and is working on learning to respect other pet's boundaries. She is learning with her foster's dedication to her training but will do best either as an only dog or with a dog who is young, playful and tolerant of her high energy. Moxi is not suitable for a senior dog companion in her new home or a dog whom isn't tolerant of playful puppies. Not recommended with children under 10yrs ? Daily Routine Adjusting to expected indoor behaviours with consistent verbal redirection. Goes outside every couple of hours for potty training. Has full access to most rooms when supervised, with doors closed as needed for safety. Crate time used for napping, calming, and helping regulate overstimulation. ? Motivation & Training Food motivated: Extremely — great for training! Training status: Learning basic commands; still very much a work in progress. Requires a family home often and committed to supervision, routine, consistency, and positive reinforcement. Needs support learning to self-calm, both indoors and around other dogs. Crate trained: Yes — settles quietly and finds it calming. Leash skills: A work in progress Handling: Loves being touched, handled, and fussed over (ears, tail, paws, etc.). ? Behaviour With Dogs & Cats With dogs: Friendly but plays rough. Can escalate into a frenzied state while attempting to engage other dogs. Requires human interruption/redirection to prevent over-arousal. Cats: No ? Behaviour With People Loves meeting new people, both in the home and out in public. Affectionate and enjoys cuddling once settled. ? Potty Training Still in progress. Does not like cold or wet weather and may choose to eliminate indoors. Needs ongoing housetraining and outings consistency and supervision. ? Indoor Behaviour Typical busy puppy: will get into anything if not supervised. Needs vigilant monitoring when loose in the home. Benefits from structured downtime — crate time helps her reset. Chewer: Requires appropriate chew items like bully sticks, tendons, and puppy-safe chews. ? Mental Stimulation Needs Very intelligent and will excel with: Training games, Puzzle toys, Enrichment activities, Regular structured routines ? Strengths & Improvements Improving in: Regulation of her frenzied energy during play with expert guidance from her foster mom. Respecting other dogs’ boundaries. Strengths: Affectionate, Eager to learn, Extremely food motivated, No separation anxiety Calm, quiet, and content in her crate ? Transportation: Rides well in vehicles. No motion sickness or travel-related anxiety observed. ? Ideal Adoptive Home-Moxi is not a suitable fit for an inexperience family, ideally a family familiar with terrier temperament and energy level. An adopter experienced with: High-energy puppies Over-arousal behaviours Positive training and redirection Needs a patient, committed human who is firm but kind. Adults-only home or with older children; no young children. Someone home often who can provide: Structure and boundaries. Consistent training, Supervision, Plenty of mental and physical exercise Medical note: Moxi has some congenital (from birth) eye abnormalities, which means her eyes developed a bit differently. This is something she has likely had her whole life. Left Eye: Moxi is fully blind in her left eye due to a congenital malformation. If the eye ever becomes painful, surgical removal (enucleation) may be recommended, but this is not currently needed. Right Eye: Her right eye has vision. It does have some corneal pigmentation and mild cloudiness, likely related to lower tear production and her congenital eye differences. Because of this, her right eye may be at risk for developing secondary glaucoma later in life, so monitoring is important. Current Treatment & Care Medication: Optimmune immunomodulatory eye drops for the corneal pigmentation in a puppy of this age. Once daily Optixcare lubricant 2–3 times daily in both eyes to protect and moisturize. ?? Final Notes Moxi is an incredibly bright, joyful puppy who loves people and thrives with appropriate engagement. With the right guidance, boundaries, and enrichment, she will grow into an amazing lifelong companion. Story
Meet Finley: Male cocker spaniel puppy (blind-possibly is seeing shadows and functions amazingly well despite his vision impairment) Finley is a precious, male Cocker Spaniel puppy born Sept 3, 2025 who was surrendered to our care due to being blind. PLEASE READ OUR PUPPY ADOPTION POLICY HERE BEFORE APPLYING https://hobohavenrescue.ca/puppy-adoption-policy NO EXCEPTIONS ANY APPLICATIONS RECEIVED THAT DO NO MEET THE CRITERIA IN OUR PUPPY ADOPTION POLICY WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. Finley is a friendly, confident, and adventurous young pup who doesn’t let his blindness slow him down one bit. He approaches the world with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a whole lot of heart. Whether he’s exploring the yard, playing with canine friends, or seeking out his humans, Finley brings joy everywhere he goes. View Finley's complete album of videos and photos here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.803742752276353&type=3 ** MANDATORY Finley requires another suitable canine companion in his home -and ideally a fully fenced yard for him to safely explore supervised. All pools must be fully fenced for safety Dog doors are not permitted Adoption Fee REDUCED to $500 due to Finley's blindness (reg $850) -includes vaccinations, microchip, neuter surgery, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention and all vet care, food and supplies during their time with us. We have also spent quite a lot on Finley's ophthalmology appts, testing and assessments. Energy Level: Medium Crate Trained: Yes Housetrained: In progress Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with People: Absolutely! Special Needs: Blind Daily Routine Finley enjoys several short, fully supervised outdoor sessions throughout the day to explore, sniff, and play. He goes out after each meal and several times between, with outings spaced every 2–3 hours. Inside, he is learning the rules of the home, settling nicely in his crate at night after a few minutes of fussing. Training & Behaviour Finley is blind, but maps spaces quickly and confidently. His foster home keeps pathways consistent, floors clear, and uses verbal cues to help him navigate. Commands like “This way, this way, this way” help direct him, while “Careful!” warns of obstacles. He learns quickly and adapts beautifully. Food Motivation: Extremely! This will help tremendously with training. Commands: Finley is just starting out and hasn’t learned formal cues yet. House Training: Ongoing. He does well when taken out on schedule but doesn’t yet signal on his own. Chewing: Like any teething puppy, everything seems chewable. Redirection to toys and chews works well. Touch Handling: Playful when touched during the day; relaxed handling is easiest when he’s sleepy. Separation: Finley is comfortable alone for short periods (up to 3 hours) and has shown no signs of separation anxiety. Leash Skills: Not yet introduced to walks. Social Skills With Dogs: Finley loves every dog he meets! He can be a bit rough in play due to puppyhood but responds well to canine corrections. With Cats: Very good—he mostly ignores the household cat or offers a quick sniff. With People: Everyone is a new best friend! He greets both in-home and outside visitors with happy enthusiasm. Medical Notes Finley saw Dr Barboza, an opthamologist, for a thorough assessment and testing for his blindness. For anyone seriously interested in adopting Finley, we are more than happy to send the full report to your vet clinic to discuss further with your vet. The primary assessment is anterior segment dysgenesis, a congenital malformation of both eyes, leading to blindness. Secondary glaucoma is questionable. The measured intraocular pressures are elevated but are suspected to be factitiously high due to the structural abnormalities of the cornea and anterior chamber. Microphthalmia (small eye) is noted in the left eye. The patient does not currently appear to be in pain or discomfort from his ocular condition. No medications are being prescribed at this time. The decision was made to avoid potentially unnecessary eye drops as the IOP readings may be inaccurate. Finley is returning for a reassessment to ensure that his eyes are both stable and no further treatment is recommended at this time. His adoptive family will need to have their vet monitor for any changes as he matures. Transportation Finley travels well in a crate and may fuss briefly before settling in for a nap. Strengths Adapts quickly to new environments Excellent at locating people by voice Social, gentle, and eager to bond Playful and brave Sweet, affectionate, and loves being with his “pack” Ideal Adoptive Home Finley will thrive in a home that: Has experience with blind dogs or is committed to learning and supporting his needs Has someone home during the day for his feeding and potty schedule Will continue his training and provide a safe, consistent environment Ideally includes another friendly, patient dog to play with Children must be dog savvy, respectful and over 10 yrs Why You’ll Love Him Finley is an incredible puppy—sweet, adventurous, and endlessly good-natured. He loves to explore and play, but once he’s tired, he’s perfectly content to curl up beside you for a nap. He is happiest when he’s close to his people and will be a devoted companion to the lucky family who adopts him. Hello! My name is Fig!I’m a fun, lively boy with a big heart! I can be a little shy when meeting new people, so I’ll need my humans to help me feel safe and make sure strangers give me a little space. Once I’m comfortable, I shine—especially when there’s a ball involved. I’m a champion fetch player, and my joyful, springy leaps will absolutely make you smile. (I swear I might be part bunny!)A securely fenced yard—5 feet or taller—is perfect for me so I can bounce and play to my heart’s content. I’m affectionate, eager to learn, and super motivated by tasty treats, so training with me is both fun and rewarding.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers may be ok but no young children given my sensitive nature.OTHER DOGS: I may do best as the only dog but might be able to have dog friends with slow introductions and calm dogs.CATS: No, I like to chase small things.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: I would do best with someone who has previous dog experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Recommended.HOUSING: A quieter home environment suits me best—apartments aren’t ideal since close encounters with strangers make me nervous.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily, though right now I may not be an ideal match for a family that is gone for a full work day.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: I seem to be on the right track, but expect some accidents as I adjust to a new routine. If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the “Adopt Me” button to apply!

Story
Hello! My name is Taylor!I`m a loving girl who can be timid meeting new people but since being at GHS I`ve come out of my shell beautifully and seem to be less timid with strangers. I am a petite little thing, not even 60 pounds! My new family should know that I work as a part-time digger and will help with any gardening needs you have or even snow removal. I like to dig holes for my toys and then cover them up by shoveling dirt over it with my nose. I may sometimes bark at dogs on leash if they are too close. But with a bit of space and some positive reinforcement with treats, I have made really nice progress so far! I am a snuggly and affectionate girl and at the end of the day I`m just looking for a loving home that will show me what a good girl I am.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers may be ok but no young children given my timid nature.OTHER DOGS: Potentially, I have lived with dogs before but I can be very selective and often don`t make a good first impression. If you have questions or would like more information about how I am with other dogs before applying, please email adoptions@guelphhumane.caCATS: Potentially, with a cat experienced with and comfortable living with dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: I would do best with someone who has previous dog experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Recommended.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any with yard preferred. Rural would also be great!SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the “Adopt Me” button to apply!

Hello! My name is Essen!I`ve been waiting for my family to come along since February 2025. My New Year wish is that my new family will adopt me before I reach 365 days at GHS! I`m a big sweetheart and always start my day with snuggles in bed with foster mom! I`m a very friendly girl and enjoy meeting new humans. I prefer humans over dogs and would be a great family dog for a home with older kids. I am so smart and have learned so many new skills because of my awesome foster mom. I`ve also recently discovered that I am an excellent cottage buddy and love to swim!MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Yes, older and mature children!OTHER DOGS: Other dogs cause me stress, so I`m looking to be the only dog.CATS: Since I like to chase little critters, I shouldn`t live with kitties.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: I would do best in a home that has dog experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Highly recommended.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Homes with yard preferred.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: I do well home alone!SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes!If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the “Adopt Me” button to apply!
