Story
Meet Braun! (case # 12433) Meet Braun, a sweet 6-month-old American Bulldog mix with the gentlest soul and so much love to give. This handsome boy came to the shelter as a stray, frightened and unsure of the world around him. Staff noticed what appeared to be old bite wounds on his face and head, and it’s clear that life hasn’t always been kind to him. Despite his difficult start, Braun’s heart remains soft, hopeful, and ready to trust again. When meeting new people, Braun can be a little shy and cautious at first. But once he realizes he is safe, his true personality begins to shine. Before long, he is leaning in for affection, curling up close for cuddles, and soaking up every bit of love he can get. Underneath his timid exterior is a deeply affectionate puppy who simply wants to feel secure and loved. At just six months old, Braun is still learning about the world and is currently in an important developmental stage where patience and positive experiences matter greatly. He will need a calm, understanding family willing to move at his pace and help him build confidence through kindness, consistency, and encouragement. Watching Braun slowly come out of his shell and discover that the world can be a safe place will be an incredibly rewarding journey. Braun is also still learning how to interact with other dogs and should never be rushed or forced into social situations. Gentle introductions, positive experiences, and giving him space when he needs it will help him continue growing into a confident companion. He is also new to basic obedience and leash walking, so ongoing reward-based training will be essential to help him succeed. This sweet boy may need a little extra patience and understanding, but the love he has to offer is truly special. For the family willing to invest time, compassion, and guidance into helping him heal and grow, Braun will become a loyal best friend and devoted companion for years to come. If you are looking for a puppy whose heart is just waiting for someone to believe in him, Braun may be the perfect match. Please complete an adoption application: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Braun has an appointment to be neutered on May 28th. He will be ready to go to his forever home after this surgery. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario

Story
Meet Rolley — professional land shark, wrinkle enthusiast, and future couch-stealing expert. (case #12532) At just two months old, Rolley is already mastering the fine art of looking innocent while actively chewing on your fingers. Likely a bully breed cross, this chunky little guy is expected to grow into a medium-to-large-sized dog… eventually. Right now, he’s still mostly wrinkles, oversized paws, confidence, and questionable life choices. Rolley approaches every day like it’s a full-contact sport. He’s bold, headstrong, endlessly curious, and currently believes human hands are the superior chew toy despite being offered perfectly acceptable alternatives. He’s also at that magical puppy stage where his brain is soaking up everything like a sponge — the good, the bad, and the habits you accidentally laugh at once that become permanent. This means Rolley will need an adopter who understands that puppies don’t magically “grow out of things” without guidance. Training, consistency, structure, patience, socialization, redirection, repetition, and approximately 47 reminders a day are all part of the package deal. The adorable wrinkles come free with purchase. Puppyhood is a lot of work: Tiny shark teeth included Sleep schedules optional Zoomies inevitable Selective hearing already developing Manners sold separately Rolley is going to thrive with someone committed to teaching him how to be a well-rounded dog. Positive reinforcement, clear boundaries, and consistency will be key for this smart and stubborn little dude. Underneath all the sass and mouthiness is a loyal, goofy puppy who’s going to make someone laugh every single day. If you’re ready for muddy paws, stolen socks, endless entertainment, and the rewarding chaos of raising a puppy properly, Rolley is ready to wiggle his way into your life — wrinkles first. Please complete an adoption application: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Rolley is too young to be neutered. His adopters will need to be willing to return him to a Hamilton clinic for this surgery, which is included in the adoption fee. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario

Story
Meet Baxter! (case # 12120) Baxter is a lovable 5-year-old yellow Lab with a big heart, an even bigger personality, and a tail that never seems to stop wagging. After arriving at the shelter as an unclaimed stray, Baxter quickly won over staff with his friendly nature, goofy charm, and eagerness to connect with everyone he meets. This handsome boy thrives on attention and is happiest when he’s by your side, whether heading out for an adventure or soaking up affection from his favorite people. Baxter is incredibly food motivated, gentle when taking treats, and always ready to learn — making him a great candidate for continued training and bonding with his future family. Baxter can get a little overexcited at times and tends to wear his emotions on his sleeve. He’s vocal in the kennel environment and can become anxious or “amped up” when overstimulated, but with patience, structure, and positive reinforcement, he has all the potential to blossom into a confident and well-mannered companion. He’s also a strong boy on leash, so he’ll do best with someone committed to helping him continue his walking skills and channel his enthusiasm in positive ways. Although Baxter can show some barrier reactivity, when it comes to other dogs, he has shown himself to be fairly indifferent, calmly ignoring another dog during a walk. Continued socialization will help him feel more comfortable and confident in new environments and around canine companions. Despite the changes and uncertainty he’s faced, Baxter remains sweet, social, and full of love to give. He’s looking for someone who will see past his anxious moments and recognize the loyal, affectionate companion waiting underneath. With guidance, consistency, and a cozy place to call home, Baxter is ready to become someone’s very best friend. Baxter recently tested positive for Lyme disease and is currently undergoing additional testing to ensure he gets the best possible care. Lyme disease in dogs is transmitted by ticks and, when caught early, is often very manageable with treatment—many dogs continue to live happy, active lives with proper veterinary care. His neuter is scheduled for May 28th and will be ready for his forever home after his recovery. Please complete an adoption application: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. Story
Another bright star from our constellation-themed litter of seven, Dorado is ready to chart a course straight into your heart. He came into the shelter with his mom (a Malinois mix) and his littermates. With a mix of looks across the litter — some bully-type, some boxer-like, even a few fluffier siblings, Dorado brings his own unique style to this cosmic crew. At just 2 months old, Dorado is already a confident, go-all-in kind of puppy. He isn’t afraid of anything and lives life at full speed — running, rumbling, and playing hard before happily seeking out affection and attention from his people. He’s outgoing, stable during handling, and thrives on interaction, making him a fun and engaging companion for someone ready to keep up with him. Dorado is both food motivated and toy motivated, which is a dream combination for training. Whether you’re working with treats or a favorite tug toy, he’s eager to learn and ready to engage. With consistency and positive reinforcement, he has excellent potential to grow into a well-trained and responsive adult. That said, Dorado is not a low-maintenance puppy. With his Malinois mix background, adopters should expect a smart, driven, and energetic dog who will need: Daily physical exercise (not just a quick walk!) Mental enrichment like training sessions, puzzle toys, and structured play Clear structure, boundaries, and consistent expectations Early and ongoing socialization in a controlled, positive way He will do best with a confident handler who can be firm but fair, guiding him with patience and consistency while channeling his energy into appropriate outlets. Like all puppies, Dorado will also need help navigating the basics of growing up: House training and crate training will take time and routine Teething means lots of chewing—he’ll need proper outlets Puppy manners (like no jumping or nipping) will need to be taught Ongoing training is essential, especially for a strong, intelligent dog Dorado is looking for an active, patient family that understands the commitment of raising a puppy—especially one who will likely grow into a larger, powerful dog with working-breed traits. Experience with high-energy or working breeds is a bonus, but dedication to training and enrichment is a must. In return, you’ll get a loyal, playful, and driven companion who will bring energy, fun, and endless personality into your life . If you’re ready to match his pace and help guide him to become his best self, Dorado is ready to be your adventure partner. Please complete an adoption application: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Dorado is too young to have certain procedures done, including a neuter. His adopters must be willing to return him for this surgery, which is included in the adoption fee. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only.
