Story
Name: Samantha Breed: Rottweiler Age/Sex: ~2020, FS Health Concerns: None at this time Good with: Breed experienced, responsible teenagers NO DOGS. NO CATS. NO DOG PARKS Samantha is an exuberant young girl, who is ready to start the best chapter of her life! She was found as a stray, so she's starting a fresh new page, and is writing her own history. Samantha is very confident, and forward. She does not appear to have received much training in her previous life, and is working hard on understanding concepts such as impulse control, and leash pressure. She is strong, and used to throwing her weight around to get what she wants. She is doing very well with her crate training, though can be destructive if bored. She cannot have soft bedding material, a Kuranda style bed is best. Samantha has excellent food and toy drive, and will play for hours. She loves the water, and everything is fun and exciting. This is no couch potato girl, she's an active working girl, and she knows it! She enjoys working for her ball, has been introduced to disc rollers, and is always up for learning something new. She is very green, and easy to take in any direction. Samantha has shown some selectivity with people, but with proper intros, and some food, is easily bribed. Staying on top of her training to ensure good choices, is key. If you get lax with her, she will absolutely take it, and run with it. Due to her nature and forward personality, homes with teenagers that can be actively involved in her training, and are comfortable establishing boundaries with a powerful, guardian breed, will be considered. Samantha has made it quite clear that she does not want to share her personal space with other pets. She can be neutral, but will get very forward and aggressive, if they enter her space. She has done very well learning to be neutral, and with continued management, should be fine in a wide variety of sporting environments. Samantha is a fabulous rottweiler, very green, and ready to go in any direction. She is a joy to work with, and very affectionate with her person. You: - Are patient, kind, and willing to work with a genetically shy/fearful dog. And won't go claiming "I'm an abused rescue", just to make excuses, cause I'm not! - Love to train, learn new things, and want to help me work on my confidence building! - Have a quieter household, with not too many comings and goings. - Love the outdoors and spending time in nature. - Will take the time to meet me a few times, so I become comfortable with you, before going home. - Maybe have an existing confident, neutral dog for me to learn from. Me: - Am very shy, but very sweet! I do my best to be brave! Once I am comfortable wirh you/the environment, I am very energetic! - Love hiking, playing in the water, and chasing my dog friends. But only structured play with known dogs please. No dog parks!! - Am a mix between cuddly, and wanting to just hang and chill. - Will bark at scary or unfamiliar things...and then run away. - Get a little car sick still (Cerenia is my friend!) - Am super handsome, and foster mom says I have the face of a panther! - Listen really well to foster mom, and she says I'm an easy keeper! - Might have a small heart issue, but causes me no problems, and I need no meds/surgery. - I haven't met a cat yet, but with proper training, should be fine! Both my adopted siblings live with cats! - Patient, gentle kids, that will respect a shy dog's boundaries, could become my new best friend! Name: Fathom Breed: GSD x Farm Dog Mix DOB/Sex: Dec 22, 2023/F Known Health Issues: None at this time. Good With: Cats! Dogs! Kids! NO DOG PARKS Hi, I'm Fathom! I'm looking for my forever family. Is that you? You: - Have a quite, calm home environment. - Enjoy working with shy dogs, and have the patience to build a relationship over many months. - Love the outdoors and adventuring! - Enjoy a dog that wants to be with you always, but respect they don't necessarily want physically restrictive embracing/hugs. - Enjoy building up a dog, and bringing out their inner spark. - live more rurally/in a quiet neighborhood. And have a secure, fenced area for me to exercise in. 6ft minimum. - Will not trap me by claiming my genetics are "an abused past", and give me the tools I need to grow everyday. - Have a well balanced dog in the home, that would pair well with a soft, shy, but sassy girl. Me: - I am shy, sweet, and like to take things slow. - Once I am comfortable though, I have a spicy side! I can be demanding and vocal for my needs, in a sassy way! - I am a flight risk, and a hard catch. I will NEVER go to a stranger. But I like routine, and minimal pressure, and will go back to my safe place if properly guided. - I love my crate, and the security it provides. I like routine and predictability. - I love to play, and run! I would prefer to go to a home with a canine friend. I take a lot of confidence and direction from their actions. I get along with most everyone, as long as they respect canine body language. - I still get car sick, so Cerenia is my friend. - I have not yet met a cat, but with proper training and guidance, should be fine. 2 of my adopted siblings live with cats! - Kids that respect boundaries, and personal space may be okay. Again, I am very shy, and don't like much physical contact. This is hard for many kids to understand. I seek coexistence. - My foster mom says I am a very special girl, with a warm light. I shine the brightest when my needs are respected. She hopes I will find someone willing to continue to give me a safe space in which to grow. Story
Name: Rex Breed: Dutch Shepherd x Malinois (as per previous owner) DOB/Sex: Jan 4, 2024/M Known Health Issues: None at this time. Good With: Currently Rex is best suited for an only pet home. Please see bio. ADULT ONLY HOME. NO DOG PARKS. *Bite History* *AVAILABLE AS FOSTER TO ADOPT* Rex is a fun loving, goofy, giant ball of energy with a lot of opinions. He has been through a lot in his young life, and is ready to take a well structured path forward. Rex arrived in rescue explosive, unsure, and used to throwing his weight around. He is a big, tall boy, currently about 83lbs, and an absolute bulldozer. He had no respect for leash pressure, and was very disconnected from his handler. Since arriving he has made fantastic strides. His personality has really started to come through, and he is enjoying trying new things, and his confidence grows with each outting. He is very much a work in progress, but I feel it would be beneficial to him, and his future home, to start working together now, to hopefully have a smoother transition when he is 100% ready. Rex is currently not other animal safe. I have seen hints which suggest to me that he may be able to co-exist with another dog in the home at some point, but it will be a VERY long intro process. He is very reactive to all other animals. He is just now neutral with the dogs here at the rescue. It has taken many months to get to this point. Unfamiliar dogs elicit an explosive response. I will not place him with prey or livestock animals in the home. He unfortunately suffered many dog attacks as a puppy, which has led to this reactive stance. It is a work in progress, but he has made great improvements. Rex has come a long way with his people reactivity. He prefers women to men, but there are men he likes. He has had many boundaries crossed again as a young pup, and unfortunately was forced to make poor choices when his needs weren't acknowledged. I'm happy to discuss his bite history with any approved applicants, and do not believe any of the situations reflect on him as a whole. I will not spend time discussing him with tire kickers, so unless I have an application in hand, questions will not be answered. If you are serious about working with a dog like Rex, please fill out the application, and make sure your answers are comprehensive. Rex is a powerhouse, and just starting to tap into his potential. He has plenty of energy, but does settle well with a good routine. He is excellent in his crate, and very clean. He is medium drive, with prey being the strongest. We are working on building good tug, and toy engagement. He loves his toys, but prefers to run away with them. He is learning they are more fun if you engage back with your handler. His food drive is moderate, and could definitely be built further. Rex requires an experienced, working/sport dog owner. He is a project dog, but with the potential to go far. Due to his insecurities he is not a bitework candidate. As his handler engagement builds, I can see him enjoying obedience or rally type activities. We have played around with disc rollers and he enjoys the chase. We have done one scent session at the time of this writing, with Vita K9, and plan to continue. And today, at the time of this writing, he has officially learned to swim, and shows the drive to become a great dock diving dog! He is a dog, that with proper guidance and handling, could enjoy many different activities. I will only place him with someone who is looking to continue to build him up, and expand his world. Rex has proven to be very easy to live with. He loves routine, and patterns quickly. He travels well, and will definitely let you know if anyone wakks too close to the car, lol. He leash walking is improving, but not great. He is starting to offer check ins. He needs work on new environments/activities and surfaces, but gets better and faster at acclimatizing with every outing. His body handling is improving significantly. Initially he was highly suspicious of any touch. He is now good with everything but his feet. He would get very mouthy/crocodile roll etc to avoid foot handling. This is improving with patterning and repetition. He loves to train, so that part makes it easy! He has had 2 successful vet trips for his initial wellness/vaccines/bloodwork, and then follow up boosters. We muzzled as a precaution, but he did very, very well. Understandably nervous/tense, but no attempts at bad choices. We did sedate at his second visit, but only so that I could do a proper, really good nail trim for him. I wanted to get his nails to a good starting place, since his feet are such a point of contention for him. He should not need to be sedated for general exams, and handling. I have seen no resource guarding or similar issues. Due to his bite history, no homes with persons under 18 will be considered. My ideal situation for him at this time, is an adopter that is willing to start working with him, with their trainer, but will take it in baby steps. I want to see a relationship built with him, before he moves out. I am considering him "foster to adopt" for this reason, though it is not quite the usual scenario. He needs a calm, confident handler, that will continue to guide him, and give him the chance to be the best version of him he can be. It is important that a solid relationship is there, before finalizing his adoption. I want to see him succeed, as well as his adopter. If you think you that you are the one for him, please complete an application here: https://form.jotform.com/233466598767073 ________________________________ Adoption through Inugoya includes: - the dog - All vaccinations & required boosters; DA2PPv, Bordetella, Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Rabies - 4DX Blood Test (Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis) - Age appropriate wellness blood screen - Fecal test - Deworming & Flea/Tick/Heartworm prevention - Spay/Neuter - Microchip - Hip xray for all dogs that undergo anesthesia - All medical needs assessed and concluded. Story
Name: Pépé Breed: Mixed DOB/Sex: May 16th, 2022/MN Known Health Issues: None at this time. Good With: All people, including (dog savvy) kids! NO DOGS. NO CATS. NO DOG PARKS Pépé is an absolutely fantastic, fun loving boy. He is lean, long legged, and very athletic! Though you wouldn't necessarily expect it from his mixed breed appearance, and livestock guardian grandparentage, he definitely has strong sport potential. He absolutely loves to play with toys, retrieve, swim, and has been started chasing disc rollers! While his engagement focus and drive to work with you is not as strong as say a German Shepherd, his independent thought just adds a little extra fun to your training challenges. He is still however very engaged, and has strong potential to go in a lot of directions. He's not a boy to sit on the sidelines, and is not going to be happy in a home that doesn't give him a focus and outlet for his high energy and drive. Pépé has matured into an individual that gets very jealous and possessive of his handler around other dogs. He has some reactivity, but I have zero problem taking him out on controlled pack group hikes, or other such structured environments. But he is absolutely not a dog to have canine socials, and is looking for a home as an only dog. He absolutely can, and will start a fight. No cats for the same reason, and I do not wish to see any cats harmed. His prey drive is also quite strong. I would also not trust him arouns livestock, or small pocket pets/birds in the home. He MUST be the only pet. Pépé absolutely LOVES people! He has become a bit more reserved in his teenage months, but is generally still quite social with proper introductions. He is happy to live in a home with all ages, with proper boundaries and structure. He would not be tolerant of rambunctious kids, grabby kids, being stepped on/tripped over etc. He's not a pushover dog, and if you're the type of person that likes to use force, or coercion to try and get your way, it's not going to be a successful relationship. He definitely is a dog that needs to see the benefit from his side as well, but is truly a joy to work with. For the active family who loves to adventure, explore the wilderness, and dabble in some sports whether backyard, or beginner entry level, he will make an amazing companion! Pépé is good for the vet, tolerant of grooming, excellent in his crate, and has decent general manners. He will very much benefit from training with his new family, to be the best canine companion he can be. He's fairly quiet, and generally no trouble, as long as his exercise, and mental needs have been met for the day. He does still get car sick, although he's getting a lot better with it, and I'm hopeful he will eventually completely grow out of it. Pépé is a dog with many, many wonderful qualities. Yes he's a mixed breed, but that doesn't mean he's any less awesome than the German Shepherds or Rottweilers here at the rescue. To meet him is to fall in love with him, so all it takes is that one application, for him to find forever happiness. If this people loving, adventure boy sounds like your perfect match, please message for an application to start the process. He looks forward to meeting you soon! He is not for a first time dog owner, or apartment/condo type living. Pépé is very emotionally connected, and incredibly intelligent. He is independent, but balanced with a nice drive to work. Toy drive is stronger than food drive. Settles wonderfully in the home, and always wants to be near me. He has clear boundaries, and works best with cooperative care, and clear direction. Good for the vet, and groomer. ________________________________ Adoption through Inugoya includes: - the dog - All vaccinations & required boosters; DA2PPv, Bordetella, Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Rabies - 4DX Blood Test (Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis) - Age appropriate wellness blood screen - Fecal test - Deworming & Flea/Tick/Heartworm prevention - Spay/Neuter - Microchip - Hip xray for all dogs that undergo anesthesia - All medical needs assessed and concluded. I'm looking for my forever family. Is that you? You: - Are looking for a very active canine companion. - Are patient, and enjoy building a relationship with your dog. - Are looking for a dog that has a "one person only" type personality - Have a house without frequent guests. - Enjoy the outdoors, hiking, and maybe some backyard canine sport activities. - Are comfortable advocating for my space and setting boundaries in public so I feel safe. Me: - I am aloof, and shy, and take time to get to know you. But once I do, I am VERY bonded, and will only have eyes for you! - Enjoy the company of maybe 1 or 2 select canine friends. I do not like pushy/in your face/rude dogs. Dogs that read and respect body language should be fine. - I love to RUN, and play, and go for hours! A walk around the block, or tossing a ball is not enough. I am also very smart! Mental engagement and training sessions are key to my happiness. - I am good in my crate, and appreciate a regular schedule. - I am very goofy, and make my foster mom laugh all the time! - I LOVE cuddles from my person! (I do NOT want to be touched by strangers, thank you). - I can be loud, and alert bark. But I am NOT a guard dog, and will run away. I can be a flight risk if spooked, especially before we are fully bonded. - I would not do well in a busy city/downtown. - I am very handsome, and look good in anything. - I have not yet met a cat, but with proper intros and training, I should be fine. 2 of my adopted siblings live with cats! - Kids that will respect my boundaries, and are calm, may be okay.
