Story
We got Angel in the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic, she brought immense joy to our famnily and was the sweetes girl ever, we had our first kid in 2024 and he is extremely allergic to Angel, to the point where we had to relocate angel to our basement since he will break out in hives if they are in the same general section of the house. It is with an extremely heavy heart that we are willing to give her away since we love her. However, thinking about it rationally she will be better off with a new family that will be able to give her the love and attention we once were able to give her and even more. Angel is an absolute sweetheart and she is extremely independent, she is used to being alone for long stretches of time since my wife and I had crazy work schedules before having our kid, she has never destroyed any furniture, dug through anything or even chewed anything. we just want her to find a new forever home where she will be loved how she deserves to

Story
** DEXTER'S ADOPTION FEE IS SPONSORED ** Dexter / Male / Approx 3 years / 50 lbs / Australian Cattle Dog Mix / Good with Dogs / Good with Children / Good with Cats / Medium-Low Energy / From Tennessee / Fostered in Brampton ** Follow Dexter's journey on Instagram: @lilcuddlebugfosters** Meet Dexter! This handsome boy is full of joy and never-ending affection. He is sweet, calm, friendly, sometimes goofy and very loving to his people. Giving people hugs and kisses is one of his favourite things and he'll happily greet you when you get home. He's excited to do whatever you feel like - from going for a walk to lounging on the couch. Dexter is very affectionate, he likes to stick close to his trusted humans. When meeting new people, he may take time to warm up, and appreciates slow introductions and time to observe and sniff. Dexter has lived with children ages 7 -17 and treated them the same as the adults. To Dexter, his humans are the best and he loves to play and cuddle with them all. Dexter walks well on leash and does not pull. He currently gets two walks a day of 30-45 minutes. He also loves play time in the backyard with his canine foster sister. He gets along well with other dogs who match his laid back energy and is good at reading cues. Dexter would be a great second dog in a home, but could also do well as the only dog. Dexter has not been tested with cats. On rare occasions, he can be a little uneasy and may bark or react when passing strange men or fast moving people running or on bikes. Dexter is great when left home alone and settles immediately. He is not crated and usually just curls up on a dog bed or the couch and chills out until his people come home. He may counter surf so it’s important to make sure all food is put away when leaving him. Dexter has been left for up to six hours without issue and is fully potty trained. While in foster care, Dexter received a diagnosis of megaesophagus which comes with some long-term care. Megaesophagus means that Dexter’s body doesn’t push food into his stomach the way it should. He is stable on medication and a regime of 3 meals per day fed while he is in an elevated position in a Bailey Chair. Dexter has become fairly accustomed to using his chair and will sit in it for up to 30 minutes after he eats. Small amounts of regurgitation is common for dogs with this condition and their health should be monitored. He also uses a travel pillow when lying down which minimizes the regurgitation. If you are interested in Dexter but have questions about his condition, please reach out and we would be happy to connect you with his vetting team to discuss further. Dexter’s ideal home would be with a loving family who is ready for endless kisses and has a willingness to commit to his healthcare. He is young and enjoys a daily walk with a few chances for potty breaks throughout the day. Dexter would do best in a home with a yard in a quiet area. Dexter is a real gem and wants nothing more than a committed family with whom he can enjoy his life. If you are looking for a fun-loving companion, Dexter is your guy. He has so much love to give and will brighten up your home. ** KIKO'S ADOPTION FEE IS SPONSORED ** Kiko / Male / 8 years old / 68 lbs / Mixed Breed / No Other Dogs Please / Older kids only / No Cats Please/ From Mexico / Fostered in Oshawa ** Follow Kiko’s journey on Instagram @Fostertails_crae_and_friends ** Meet Kiko! Kiko is one resilient guy. Originally from Mexico, he lived alone on a rooftop for most of his life. He stole the hearts of everyone at the shelter and they quickly realized he was a very special boy who deserved a shot at the good life in Canada. Despite everything he has been through, this handsome boy is described by his fosters as sweet, loving, affectionate, eager to please, easygoing, and low maintenance. He has a gentle heart and will thrive once he gets a sense of permanence and belonging in his family. Kiko’s favourite activities are cuddling, getting pets, scratches, and belly rubs from his people. He will use his beautiful brown eyes and lay his head on your lap to let you know he wants pets. He loves being close to his humans and gently pressing his body against them when he wants cuddles. He will give vigorous tail wags when his people return or enter the room. He will also give lots of little kisses to express his affection. Kiko enjoys being outdoors and gets 2 good walks plus a few shorter outdoor breaks during the day. Kiko walks very well on a leash and enjoys trotting alongside his human. He will match his pace to whoever is walking him, he doesn’t pull and is easily corrected. He is curious and loves to sniff and prefers a quieter neighbourhood where there are not too many loud vehicles or encounters with strangers or other dogs. Kiko does not enjoy meeting other dogs on leash and will require a handler who can advocate for his space and ensure he is not put in an uncomfortable position. In the house, Kiko is a dream. This handsome boy has perfect manners to match his good looks and charms. He loves his humans and wants to be close to them whenever they are around but also does well on his own. He will adapt to a new routine easily and is very go-with-the-flow. He is not at all destructive and is trusted with free roam in the house. If there is any activity or stimulation around, he is very playful. Kiko has several favourite toys and will play with them to entertain himself when left alone. He enjoys chewing on his Kongs, balls, and stuffed toys but is not destructive. Kiko has been left for more than 6 hours on his own and has been perfectly fine. He calms down quickly and is not crated. He mostly chills out in the area where his dog bed and toys are located or will curl up on the couch and snooze. Kiko doesn’t enjoy being crated, but given his good manners it is not necessary. Kiko settles quickly at night on a dog bed in his fosters’ room and sleeps through the night without issue. Kiko needs slow and proper introductions to new people. He is not a dog that will run up to anyone. He needs to be approached slowly and respectfully and feels comfortable when he can move at his own pace. Kiko warms up quickly and after that with people he trusts. Kiko gets along well with older, dog-savvy children but he does enjoy playing rough, so it is not recommended that he plays with younger children unsupervised. Kiko has basic obedience skills, is very attuned to his people and is eager to please. He pays close attention to body language, voice tone, and eye contact and never wants to do anything that might displease or inconvenience his people. He is sensitive, observant and considerate. While in foster care, Kiko had a growth removed from his leg that was diagnosed as cutaneous hemangiosarcoma, a malignant type of skin cancer. There is a chance that it may return so he’ll need to be monitored regularly. Because these growths can sometimes develop in areas of lighter skin, Kiko should avoid prolonged sun exposure on spots like his belly and inner legs. It’s important to note that Kiko is not palliative—this is not a situation where his time is expected to be short. Many dogs with this diagnosis can continue to live for years with a good quality of life. Kiko is also prone to getting tiny stones in his bladder so needs to stay on a specific brand of food. Kiko is the perfect companion for a single person or adult couple, where he would be the only pet in the home. He would do best in a quiet neighbourhood and would strongly prefer a yard where he could hang out without meeting too many other dogs. Kiko is muzzle trained and needs a family that will advocate for his space when meeting new or unfamiliar people and dogs, and who will help his confidence going up and down stairs. He will also need a family who is committed to working on his leash etiquette, obedience training and overall confidence. Kiko just needs a lot of affection, love, and support from his humans to feel safe. Once he trusts you, he will do anything for you. If you’re interested in adopting Kiko, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Kiko's adoption fee has been generously sponsored. Story
Cruise / Male / 8 weeks / approx 10 lbs / Mixed Breed (will likely grow to be large) / Good with Dogs / Untested with Kids & Cats / Local Surrender / Fostered in Toronto Cruise is a sweet, friendly, and incredibly cuddly puppy with a gentle, affectionate personality. He’s very curious about the world and attentive to his people, and while he’s generally quiet, he does become quite enthusiastic when food is involved. At 4.58 kg, he is growing quickly and is in a healthy puppy stage. He currently sheds very minimally. Cruise loves playing with his brother Bru, wrestling, tug-of-war, and zooming around the house. He also enjoys independent play with stuffies, ropes, Kongs, and ice cubes for teething. When he’s tired, he becomes the world’s softest snuggle bug, happily curling into your arms, falling asleep with his belly up and his head flopped back. He follows his humans around the house and loves to climb, especially when he’s trying to reach you for attention or play. One of his most adorable habits is sitting calmly before meals with the biggest, sweetest puppy-dog eyes. Cruise isn’t overly fearful of anything, though he is unsure about loud noises like the vacuum, which is typical for puppies his age. His ideal family will be patient, gentle, and dedicated to continuing his training as he grows. Like all young puppies, he is learning how to settle, regulate excitement, and interact calmly. He responds extremely well to positive reinforcement and soft voices, and he aims to please. His perfect home would include people willing to give him lots of affection, playtime, and consistent structure. He could thrive in a house or townhouse, in the suburbs or a rural area, and he would do well with respectful, dog-savvy children who understand normal puppy behaviours like jumping and teething. Cruise is very friendly and relaxed with familiar people and meets new people with the same excitement and ease. He hasn’t been formally tested with children, but based on his behaviour, he would do well with kids who are gentle and respectful, understanding that he is a curious puppy who may jump or mouth. His energy level is on the higher side, with bursts of play followed by long naps. Because he only recently received his vaccinations, he has not begun leash training yet, but he has been exploring the backyard and house with growing confidence. He enjoys indoor enrichment, short play sessions, and plenty of sensory exploration. Cruise has not been tested in the car yet. He is, however, a determined climber and has figured out how to climb out of his pen when he’s excited for food or play. His foster family is working on reinforcing calm behaviours, such as keeping four paws on the floor to receive treats. While it’s too early to know if he’s a true flight risk, he tends to stay close to his people outside rather than wander off, but supervision is expected for a puppy his age. He is not yet fully potty trained but reliably uses pee pads and has begun slowly transitioning to outdoor pottying now that he is vaccinated. He does not mark indoors. Because of his age, Cruise is only left alone for very short intervals, usually settling quickly with his brother beside him. He sleeps with Bru in an open crate inside a playpen in the living room and has been sleeping through most of the night, usually until around 5–6 AM. Cruise’s house manners are typical for an 8-week-old puppy—he can be mouthy, curious, and eager to explore with his teeth. He will chew on inappropriate items if given the chance, but redirects beautifully with toys or teething-safe items like ice. He follows his foster family from room to room and settles quickly after play sessions. Cruise is dog-social and interacts happily with both his brother and the resident dog, though he can be overwhelming for adult dogs at times due to his enthusiasm. A patient resident dog who is comfortable with puppies would be a great match. He has not lived with cats but could likely adapt with slow introductions, provided the cat is tolerant of puppy energy. Cruise is already learning “sit,” “come,” and basic patience exercises. He is extremely food-motivated and eager to learn, making him a strong candidate for continued positive reinforcement training. His main areas for future support include redirecting climbing behaviour, bite inhibition (which is improving), and general puppy manners. Cruise has no health concerns and is described by his foster family as a wonderful, lovable puppy who will make his future family very happy. If his fosters didn’t already have their hands full, they’d keep him in a heartbeat, he’s a total heart-melter. ABOUT YOU! Puppies are a lot of work. At just 8 weeks old, we are looking for families who have FLEXIBLE work schedules and the time and energy to invest in socialization and training. Yes, Cruise is tiny and oh-so-cute, but we can pretty much guarantee that he will: -Pee and poop on your floor -Chew your furniture -Eat your designer handbag -Ruin your leisurely Sunday morning sleep-in As a condition of the adoption contract, their new families will be required to: -Ensure they have an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full-time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit. -Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required). -Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage. -Spay/neuter them within 6 months of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of spay/neuter is required to finalize the adoption. Story
Elora / Female / 10 weeks / approx 15 lbs / Mixed Breed (will likely be large fully grown) / Good with Dogs / Untested with Kids & Cats / Local Surrender/ Fostered in Toronto Meet sweet Elora! This little gal came to Fetch & Releash at just four weeks old alongside her siblings, Bru, Cruise, Elton, Pip, and Tigerlily. As you'd expect from a puppy this young, she is a little ball of rambunctious, curious, and adorable energy. She loves to cuddle, nap, and play. She is affectionate and ready to be the best companion to her new family. We'll give you the big puppy disclaimer later on, but for now, let's focus on the good parts of puppy ownership. This little girl is a total sweetheart, and loves to be near her humans. She is very friendly and playful in the way that all puppies are. Elora will come wiggling up to everyone she meets to get pets and give kisses. She is very affectionate and likes to sit beside you while you work, looking up with those puppy dog eyes, until you finally gather her up for a snuggle. This little ball of fur could eventually grow into a BIG cuddle monster. Elora and her siblings didn't come to us along with their mother to confirm, but we suspect she is a mix of several larger breeds. The good news is that large breeds are typically kind, affectionate, and loyal dogs who are protective of their families, but still perfectly capable of socializing with other dogs or pets if given the proper training. While Elora doesn't require a lot of space now, the potential size of the breed usually means it'd be a good idea to have a backyard, or live near a nice dog park to give her proper exercise. Elora is currently teething, which means she is chewing everything she can find, but is easily distracted by giving her new toys to chew on. She is also just beginning to potty-train and will still have some accidents. Elora has been making great progress with her training pads and loves attention and treats, so training will be fun! Elora has not met other dogs, or children yet, but given her age and demeanor we think she will do well with them. As it always does, it will just take time, patience and proper introductions. ABOUT YOU! Puppies are a lot of work. At just 8 weeks old, we are looking for families who have FLEXIBLE work schedules and the time and energy to invest in socialization and training. Story
** KIKA'S ADOPTION FEE IS SPONSORED ** Kika / Female / Approximately 3 years old / 60 lbs / Terrier Mix / No Dogs Cats Children / Would Do Best in Female Only Home / From Mexico / Fostered in Toronto Follow Kika’s journey on Instagram: @kikaneedsamom Meet Kika! Kika is a loving and devoted girl who adores affection and attention from her people. She has a contagious zest for life and bonds very deeply with her trusted humans. Kika makes the silliest faces to make you laugh and loves playing with her toys, going on walks, and car rides. She makes cute little puppy noises when she wants her human's attention and loves playing footsies. Kika is a very smart dog who has endless potential and loves to learn and please. She knows many commands and will perform for just a “good girl.” She is fully potty trained and will “go pee” outside on command. Kika came to us after she wandered into the home of a shelter volunteer badly injured and clearly the subject of mistreatment. She was in terrible shape but somehow knew to find a safe place to ask for help. Kika is now thriving in foster with steady guidance and leadership and has graciously shown us her true joyful personality. Understandably, Kika does not immediately trust strangers so applicants should expect an adjustment period that includes some guarding behaviours including food guarding. During this period of building trust, it will be important to feed separately and give space. Men especially are scary for Kika and, while she can pass them outdoors fine, she cannot relax when they are in her indoor space. She will guard herself with barks and growls if she feels threatened, but is fine crated in another room if male visitors are present. Kika learned to trust her female foster very quickly (just days) so we are looking for a specific adopter to ensure similar success. We’d be happy to discuss further with any interested applicants who have dog experience but maybe don’t match all the listed details. Kika is very in tune to her people and, when with a trusted handler, is curious and brave out in the world. Kika loves smiling and wagging her tail, so she attracts lots of attention when out on walks. She does not mind that attention when her handler advocates for ‘no touching’ with strangers and has made several friends. Kika currently lives in Toronto and loves her walks, but prefers quieter times or side streets. Kika is like a big puppy herself, so she loves meeting other dogs while out on walks, especially little or playful dogs. Kika is living in a condo currently and is great; she very rarely barks and is crate trained for 6+ hours. Kika sleeps in her crate while left alone and is also fine to amuse herself with a toy when her foster is in another room. Kika sleeps through the night in her crate without issue. Kika's perfect home would be with female human(s) who do not plan to share a home with a man. Ideally, Kika's adopters will have dog experience (resource guarding experience would be amazing), or be very open to learning. Once Kika learns to trust her new human, she is a very easy, wonderful companion. Kika is listed as pet-free because her resource guarding makes her unable to live with other dogs without a very experienced human willing to manage safe, healthy relationships. Kika adores meeting and playing with other dogs out on walks and never forgets a friend. Kika could live in a house, townhouse, or apartment outside a busy downtown core. If an apartment or condo, her adopter will need standard diligence about elevators and hallways so strangers don’t touch Kika uninvited. Kika is a wonderful, special lady, who has made so much progress in overcoming her past trauma. She has a huge amount of love to give and would make an amazing companion for the right mom(s). Kika's foster has generously offered to support approved adopters on how to set Kika up for success. Kika has mild/moderate enamel hypoplasia which is thinning of the enamel on her teeth. Homecare will help with brushing but she may require professional dental cleaning in the future. Kika should avoid hard chews, toys, and treats as her teeth will be more prone to breaking during play. If you are interested in Kika and would like to chat more about whether she would be a good fit for you, please reach out to adopt@fetchandreleash.ca. If you are interested in adopting Kika, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Kika's adoption fee has been generously sponsored.
