Story
* KIKA’S ADOPTION FEE IS SPONSORED * Kika / Female / ~3 years old / 60 lbs / Terrier Mix / No dogs, cats, or children / Female-only home / From Mexico / Fostered in Toronto Follow Kika’s journey: @kikaneedsamom Meet Kika — aka Kikachu — your future best friend with the biggest personality and an even bigger heart. Kika is the perfect mix of playful goofball and cozy companion. She’s a certified cozy connoisseur who loves fresh, warm blankets, will carefully select a toy to use as her pillow, and can often be found stretched out dramatically across the floor. She’s also an Olympic-level toy shredder and a dedicated cardboard recycler — but somehow still manages to keep a solid rotation of favourite toys intact. She has full-on conversations with her squeaky toys, knows them all by name, and loves a good game of “rescue the toy from under the ottoman.” She’ll also gently (and persistently!) remind you when belly rubs should absolutely not stop. Kika is currently working with a dog walker weekly, and it’s been a slow, thoughtful build that has been really positive for her. She’s showing that with patience, consistency, and trust, she can successfully build relationships with new people. Kika came to us after she wandered into the home of a shelter volunteer, badly injured and clearly the subject of mistreatment. Despite everything she went through, she somehow knew to find a safe place to ask for help. Today, she is thriving in foster care with steady guidance and has graciously shown us her true, joyful personality. She’s smart, expressive, and full of quirky charm — the kind of dog who keeps you laughing every day. But beyond the silliness, Kika forms deep, loyal bonds with her people. Once you’re in her circle, you’re her person — and she will trust you fully, follow your lead, and look to you for everything. Kika has a working-breed personality — alert, intelligent, and always ready for what’s next. She thrives with structure, routine, and a confident female handler. She enjoys her walks, exploring, loves a good game of ball, and even climbs snow piles like a little mountain goat. She walks well overall, though she can pull at times, and her foster is currently working on introducing a Halti to support her on walks — it’s been introduced and they are continuing to build her comfort with it. Kika is also crate trained and muzzle trained, and already has trusted relationships with both a vet and dog sitter, which will help support a smooth transition into her future home. Kika is looking for a female-only, adult-only home with someone who understands or is open to learning about dogs who need a bit of time to build trust. Understandably, Kika does not immediately trust strangers. She will need an adjustment period where she may show some guarding behaviours, including around food, and will benefit from clear structure, space, and thoughtful handling. These behaviours are not directed at her people, but rather at unfamiliar individuals. Men, in particular, are scary for Kika. While she can pass them outdoors without issue, she is not comfortable sharing her indoor space and will use barking or growling to communicate that discomfort. She does well when crated in another room during male visitors and settles with proper management. Kika is not leash reactive — she does not initiate conflict with other dogs and has remained calm even around reactive dogs. She can enjoy friendly interactions on walks and has made a few dog friends along the way. Kika learned to trust her female foster — which is why we are looking for a similar environment to set her up for success. She is best suited as the only pet in the home, though she can enjoy friendly interactions with dogs out on walks. Kika is a truly special dog who has overcome a difficult past and is now ready for her person — someone patient, understanding, and ready to build a deep, meaningful bond. With the right match, Kika is an incredibly rewarding, loyal, funny, and loving companion who will give you her whole heart. Her foster is happy to support approved adopters to ensure a smooth transition and set everyone up for success. Kika has mild/moderate enamel hypoplasia which is thinning of the enamel on her teeth. Homecare will help with brushing but she may require professional dental cleaning in the future. Kika should avoid hard chews, toys, and treats as her teeth will be more prone to breaking during play. Kika also does best on a lamb protein diet. Kika will also require routine anal gland expression approximately every 2 months. Story
Fredy / Male / 7 Years Old / 25 lbs / Mixed / Good with Dogs / Untested with Kids & Cats /From Mexico / Fostered in Oakville Follow Fredy's journey on Instagram @fosterbykails Meet Fredy, a gentle soul with a heart full of love and a calm, easygoing nature. Surrendered in February 2026 due to unfortunate circumstances, Fredy has handled the transition with quiet resilience and is now looking for a soft place to land. Fredy is the definition of a companion dog. He loves his people deeply, leaning in for cuddles, nuzzling for affection, and gets so excited to go on walks that he'll literally jump for joy. He’s polite on leash and enjoys short strolls (about 5–15 minutes), along with a bit of playtime—especially if there’s a ball or chew toy involved. At home, he’s calm and trustworthy, happily free-roaming without causing trouble. He’s friendly and relaxed when meeting new adults, though he may initially bark when guests enter the home. With a little time and familiarity, he warms up nicely. On walks, he’s easygoing overall but can be vocal around larger dogs and more interested in smaller ones. Fredy does well with dogs he knows but can be selective with new canine friends so slow, supervised introductions are important. Fredy has not been directly tested with children, but he has shown calm curiosity from a distance and may be best suited to a home with older, respectful kids or an adult-only environment. Fredy may be a “hidden senior”—while records list him as 7, his condition suggests he could be a bit older. He has a lower energy level and is best suited to a low-impact lifestyle with shorter walks and cozy rest spots. Fredy has a slight outward turn in his left front paw (called a valgus deformity), which gives his leg a unique look. This is typically caused by how the bone developed as he grew, and in Fredy’s case, it doesn’t cause him any discomfort or require any treatment — it’s simply part of what makes him, him! Due to his senior age, he has started to develop some arthritic changes in his legs; Glucosamine supplement has been added into his daily routine which has shown improvement to his mobility and overall health. He also has a small, soft fatty lump on his lower chest (lipoma), along with a few small benign skin growths on his head, nose, and left wrist. These are non-cancerous and very common, especially as dogs get older, and they don’t impact his day-to-day life. Fredy is still working on consistent house training and may have occasional marking, especially overnight or when left alone, where a belly band has been helpful. Crate training isn’t recommended for him at this stage, as it can increase stress. He can be left alone for several hours and settles well. Fredy would thrive in a home with few stairs, an apartment or condo, or in a place with a fenced yard that gives him room for his occasional bouts of zoomies. A quiet environment where he can stay close to his people will help him truly settle and feel secure. If you're ready for a fine furry companion, then Fredy is ready to fill your home with love in his golden years. If you’re interested in adopting Fredy, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Fredy’s adoption fee is $550. ** DEXTER'S ADOPTION FEE IS SPONSORED ** Dexter / Male / Approx 3 years / 50 lbs / Australian Cattle Dog Mix / Good with Dogs / Good with Children / Good with Cats / Medium-Low Energy / From Tennessee / Fostered in Brampton ** Follow Dexter's journey on Instagram: @lilcuddlebugfosters** Meet Dexter! This handsome boy is full of joy and never-ending affection. He is sweet, calm, friendly, sometimes goofy and very loving to his people. Giving people hugs and kisses is one of his favourite things and he'll happily greet you when you get home. He's excited to do whatever you feel like - from going for a walk to lounging on the couch. Dexter is very affectionate and likes to stick close to his trusted humans. When meeting new people, he may take time to warm up and appreciates slow introductions and time to observe and sniff. Dexter has lived with children ages 7 -17 and treated them the same as the adults. To Dexter, his humans are the best and he loves to play and cuddle with them all. Dexter walks well on leash and does not pull. He currently gets two walks a day of 30-45 minutes. He also loves play time in the backyard with his canine foster sister. He gets along well with other dogs who match his laid back energy and is good at reading cues. Dexter would be a great second dog in a home, but could also do well as the only dog. Dexter has not been tested with cats. On rare occasions, he can be a little uneasy and may bark or react when passing strange men or fast moving people running or on bikes. Dexter is great when left home alone and settles immediately. He is not crated and usually just curls up on a dog bed or the couch and chills out until his people come home. He may counter surf so it’s important to make sure all food is put away when leaving him. Dexter has been left for up to six hours without issue and is fully potty trained. While in foster care, Dexter received a diagnosis of megaesophagus which comes with some long-term care. Megaesophagus means that Dexter’s body doesn’t push food into his stomach the way it should. He is stable on medication and a regime of 3 meals per day fed while he is in an elevated position in a Bailey Chair. Dexter has become fairly accustomed to using his chair and will sit in it for up to 30 minutes after he eats. Small amounts of regurgitation is common for dogs with this condition and their health should be monitored. He also uses a travel pillow when lying down which minimizes the regurgitation. If you are interested in Dexter but have questions about his condition, please reach out and we would be happy to connect you with his vetting team to discuss further. Dexter’s ideal home would be with a loving family who is ready for endless kisses and has a willingness to commit to his healthcare. He is young and enjoys a daily walk with a few chances for potty breaks throughout the day. Dexter would do best in a home with a yard in a quiet area. Dexter is a real gem and wants nothing more than a committed family with whom he can enjoy his life. If you are looking for a fun-loving companion, Dexter is your guy. He has so much love to give and will brighten up your home. If you’re interested in adopting Dexter, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Dexter's adoption fee has been generously sponsored. Story
Kyle/ Male / 1 Year / 95lbs / Mixed Breed /Good with Dogs / Good with Older Kids / Not Tested with Cats / From Manitoba/ Fostered in Scarborough Meet Kyle! Kyle came into Fetch + Releash as a young puppy after suffering a serious injury to his back leg. Since then, he has shown just how resilient he is, recovering with incredible determination and never letting it dampen his happy, goofy personality. His foster describes him as a big love bug who is happiest when he's close to his people. This fun-loving boy enjoys puzzle toys, frozen Kongs, backyard adventures, long walks, and, of course, treats—his absolute favourite! Despite his size, he is convinced he's a lap dog and is always ready to curl up beside you for a cuddle or settle in for a nap after a day of fun. Friendly with both familiar faces and strangers alike, Kyle greets everyone with enthusiasm and is still learning that not every hello needs to include jumping up. He has done well with respectful, dog-savvy children, although his playful puppy-like nature means he'll do best with kids who understand that he's a big, excitable dog. His ideal home is in the suburbs or countryside where life is a little quieter. While he isn't fearful, busy city environments can be overwhelming for him. A calm, confident resident dog would make a wonderful companion, as he loves spending time with other dogs he knows and benefits from having a canine role model. When it comes to other dogs, Kyle is social and playful with those he knows, although he can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs while on leash. With consistency and continued training, he's making excellent progress. He has not been tested with cats, so a cat-free home is recommended at this time. With a moderate energy level, he enjoys a nice balance of exercise and enrichment. He is fully house trained, has excellent house manners, and can be trusted with free roam of the home. He knows several basic commands, including sit, shake paw, and wait, and his love of treats makes him eager to continue learning. He is also building confidence when left home alone for longer periods and is making steady progress. His foster describes him as an incredibly special dog whose resilience, goofy personality, and loving heart make him impossible not to fall in love with. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with plenty of personality, Kyle is ready to find the family he's been waiting for. Kyle had previous trauma to his left hind stifle joint. The previous trauma had caused the joint to effuse and cause mild osteoarthritis with a lateral luxation of the left patella. Kyle had a TPLO and repair of luxating patella on February 20. Over the past 5 months his foster has been doing routine exercises with him to help him build muscle strength back; these exercise should continue post adoption (reference photos will be provided). If you’re interested in adopting Kyle, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Kyle’s adoption fee is $850. Lua

Boxer Mixed Breed (Medium)

(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Lua / Female / 3 years old / 49 lbs / Boxer Mix / Good with calm dogs (male dogs preferred) / Good with cats / Good with older, dog-savvy children / From Mexico / Fostered in Warkworth Lua’s story started in Mexico, where her mother was found chained to a fence on an empty lot with no shelter. After giving birth to four puppies, local rescue partners stepped in, freed the family, and brought them to safety. One of those puppies was Lua. Now fully grown, Lua has become a bright, affectionate dog with a playful spirit and a deep bond with the people she trusts. Lua is being fostered in a structured training environment, where she has made huge progress with confidence, trust, and social skills. The timid puppy she once was has grown into a loving companion who genuinely enjoys being close to her people. Lua is fun, goofy, and full of energy. Her foster jokes that she has an “invisible trampoline” because she bounces through life with so much excitement. She thrives on praise, affection, and connection, and nothing makes her happier than spending time with the humans she loves. Once she feels comfortable, Lua is incredibly affectionate and playful. She loves attention, enjoys training and enrichment activities, and is especially motivated by dehydrated beef heart treats. She also loves exploring outdoors and has been known to entertain herself chasing frogs around the yard. Lua continues to make positive progress meeting new people, including men. She may need a little time to build trust at first, but she has shown that when people respect her space and allow her to approach at her own pace, she settles in beautifully. Recently, Lua met a male adopter during one of another dog's adoption pick-ups and did amazing, showing a growing level of comfort and confidence around new people. Lua has also shown that she can coexist well with calm, balanced dogs, especially respectful male dogs. She communicates clearly and appropriately with other dogs when she needs space. During a recent introduction with a new dog, Lua set boundaries appropriately when the other dog crowded her space. Since then, the dogs have continued improving together as introductions progress. Her close companion has recently transitioned to a Foster-to-Adopt home, and Lua is now beginning to build new relationships with other dogs in care. Her foster is continuing introductions to help her expand her social circle and confidence. Lua would do best in a quiet suburban or rural home rather than a busy condo or apartment setting. She has natural guardian instincts and will alert bark when she notices unfamiliar sounds or activity, so shared hallways and high-traffic environments are likely to be overwhelming for her. She has made excellent progress with her manners and impulse control, including calmer greetings and mealtimes. She settles well into routine and sleeps comfortably in her crate overnight. Lua could do well with older, dog-savvy teenagers who understand canine body language and know how to respect a dog’s boundaries. She will thrive with patient adopters who are committed to continuing her training and helping her build confidence at her own pace. What makes Lua so special is how much she has overcome. With structure, patience, and support, she has grown into a loyal, loving dog who forms incredibly strong bonds with her people. She is ready for a committed home that will continue celebrating her progress and giving her the stability she deserves. Due to Lua’s unique circumstances, her adoption fee has been sponsored by Fetch + Releash. Approved adopters must also commit to continuing training with a certified positive reinforcement trainer following adoption to help set Lua up for success. If you're interested in adopting Lua, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form To learn more about our adoption process, please visit our FAQs at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/about-us#about-faqs
