Story
Elora / Female / 3 months / approx 21 lbs / Mixed Breed (will likely be large fully grown) / Good with Dogs / Untested with Kids & Cats / Local Surrender/ Fostered in Toronto Meet sweet Elora! Elora is a cuddly, silly, playful, and smart young pup who absolutely loves being close to her people. She’s a big snuggle bug and enjoys walks, light play, and cozy downtime with her favourite toys. One of her cutest habits is bringing her toys over to share and curling up across your chest or near your neck for nap time. She has a moderate energy level and enjoys a nice balance of activity and relaxation. Elora is doing well on leash, enjoying time to stop and sniff along the way, and she continues to build confidence in busier or noisier environments. Loud outdoor noises can sometimes startle her, but with reassurance she recovers quickly. Elora has been socializing well with other dogs and generally enjoys meeting them, especially when introductions are calm and gradual. In new or overwhelming settings, she may need a little extra space at first, but once comfortable she’s happy to engage and play. At home, Elora has lovely house manners. She sleeps soundly through the night in her own bed (and happily joins her foster for morning cuddles), and when left alone she typically settles with a toy or rests while waiting. She is continuing to work on outdoor potty training and being fully comfortable when alone, and she’s making steady progress with consistency and routine. Elora would be a great fit for a family looking for a loving, affectionate, and thoughtful companion who will continue to blossom with gentle guidance. A calm, supportive home that understands puppies are still learning will help Elora shine, and whoever adopts her will be very lucky. ABOUT YOU! Puppies are a lot of work. At just 3 months old, we are looking for families who have FLEXIBLE work schedules and the time and energy to invest in socialization and training. Yes, Elora is tiny and oh-so-cute, but we can pretty much guarantee that she will: -Pee and poop on your floor -Chew your furniture -Eat your designer handbag -Ruin your leisurely Sunday morning sleep-in As a condition of the adoption contract, their new families will be required to: -Ensure they have an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full-time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit. -Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required). -Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage. -Spay/neuter them within 6 months of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of spay/neuter is required to finalize the adoption. If you’re interested in adopting Elora, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Elora’s adoption fee is $1000. Story
** DEXTER'S ADOPTION FEE IS SPONSORED ** Dexter / Male / Approx 3 years / 50 lbs / Australian Cattle Dog Mix / Good with Dogs / Good with Children / Good with Cats / Medium-Low Energy / From Tennessee / Fostered in Brampton ** Follow Dexter's journey on Instagram: @lilcuddlebugfosters** Meet Dexter! This handsome boy is full of joy and never-ending affection. He is sweet, calm, friendly, sometimes goofy and very loving to his people. Giving people hugs and kisses is one of his favourite things and he'll happily greet you when you get home. He's excited to do whatever you feel like - from going for a walk to lounging on the couch. Dexter is very affectionate, he likes to stick close to his trusted humans. When meeting new people, he may take time to warm up, and appreciates slow introductions and time to observe and sniff. Dexter has lived with children ages 7 -17 and treated them the same as the adults. To Dexter, his humans are the best and he loves to play and cuddle with them all. Dexter walks well on leash and does not pull. He currently gets two walks a day of 30-45 minutes. He also loves play time in the backyard with his canine foster sister. He gets along well with other dogs who match his laid back energy and is good at reading cues. Dexter would be a great second dog in a home, but could also do well as the only dog. Dexter has not been tested with cats. On rare occasions, he can be a little uneasy and may bark or react when passing strange men or fast moving people running or on bikes. Dexter is great when left home alone and settles immediately. He is not crated and usually just curls up on a dog bed or the couch and chills out until his people come home. He may counter surf so it’s important to make sure all food is put away when leaving him. Dexter has been left for up to six hours without issue and is fully potty trained. While in foster care, Dexter received a diagnosis of megaesophagus which comes with some long-term care. Megaesophagus means that Dexter’s body doesn’t push food into his stomach the way it should. He is stable on medication and a regime of 3 meals per day fed while he is in an elevated position in a Bailey Chair. Dexter has become fairly accustomed to using his chair and will sit in it for up to 30 minutes after he eats. Small amounts of regurgitation is common for dogs with this condition and their health should be monitored. He also uses a travel pillow when lying down which minimizes the regurgitation. If you are interested in Dexter but have questions about his condition, please reach out and we would be happy to connect you with his vetting team to discuss further. Dexter’s ideal home would be with a loving family who is ready for endless kisses and has a willingness to commit to his healthcare. He is young and enjoys a daily walk with a few chances for potty breaks throughout the day. Dexter would do best in a home with a yard in a quiet area. Dexter is a real gem and wants nothing more than a committed family with whom he can enjoy his life. If you are looking for a fun-loving companion, Dexter is your guy. He has so much love to give and will brighten up your home. If you’re interested in adopting Dexter, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Dexter's adoption fee has been generously sponsored. ** KIKO'S ADOPTION FEE IS SPONSORED ** Kiko / Male / 8 years old / 68 lbs / Mixed Breed / No Other Dogs Please / Older kids only / No Cats Please/ From Mexico / Fostered in Oshawa ** Follow Kiko’s journey on Instagram @Fostertails_crae_and_friends ** Meet Kiko! Kiko is one resilient guy. Originally from Mexico, he lived alone on a rooftop for most of his life. He stole the hearts of everyone at the shelter and they quickly realized he was a very special boy who deserved a shot at the good life in Canada. Despite everything he has been through, this handsome boy is described by his fosters as sweet, loving, affectionate, eager to please, easygoing, and low maintenance. He has a gentle heart and will thrive once he gets a sense of permanence and belonging in his family. Kiko’s favourite activities are cuddling, getting pets, scratches, and belly rubs from his people. He will use his beautiful brown eyes and lay his head on your lap to let you know he wants pets. He loves being close to his humans and gently pressing his body against them when he wants cuddles. He will give vigorous tail wags when his people return or enter the room. He will also give lots of little kisses to express his affection. Kiko enjoys being outdoors and gets 2 good walks plus a few shorter outdoor breaks during the day. Kiko walks very well on a leash and enjoys trotting alongside his human. He will match his pace to whoever is walking him, he doesn’t pull and is easily corrected. He is curious and loves to sniff and prefers a quieter neighbourhood where there are not too many loud vehicles or encounters with strangers or other dogs. Kiko does not enjoy meeting other dogs on leash and will require a handler who can advocate for his space and ensure he is not put in an uncomfortable position. In the house, Kiko is a dream. This handsome boy has perfect manners to match his good looks and charms. He loves his humans and wants to be close to them whenever they are around but also does well on his own. He will adapt to a new routine easily and is very go-with-the-flow. He is not at all destructive and is trusted with free roam in the house. If there is any activity or stimulation around, he is very playful. Kiko has several favourite toys and will play with them to entertain himself when left alone. He enjoys chewing on his Kongs, balls, and stuffed toys but is not destructive. Kiko has been left for more than 6 hours on his own and has been perfectly fine. He calms down quickly and is not crated. He mostly chills out in the area where his dog bed and toys are located or will curl up on the couch and snooze. Kiko doesn’t enjoy being crated, but given his good manners it is not necessary. Kiko settles quickly at night on a dog bed in his fosters’ room and sleeps through the night without issue. Kiko needs slow and proper introductions to new people. He is not a dog that will run up to anyone. He needs to be approached slowly and respectfully and feels comfortable when he can move at his own pace. Kiko warms up quickly and after that with people he trusts. Kiko gets along well with older, dog-savvy children but he does enjoy playing rough, so it is not recommended that he plays with younger children unsupervised. Kiko has basic obedience skills, is very attuned to his people and is eager to please. He pays close attention to body language, voice tone, and eye contact and never wants to do anything that might displease or inconvenience his people. He is sensitive, observant and considerate. While in foster care, Kiko had a growth removed from his leg that was diagnosed as cutaneous hemangiosarcoma, a malignant type of skin cancer. There is a chance that it may return so he’ll need to be monitored regularly. Because these growths can sometimes develop in areas of lighter skin, Kiko should avoid prolonged sun exposure on spots like his belly and inner legs. It’s important to note that Kiko is not palliative—this is not a situation where his time is expected to be short. Many dogs with this diagnosis can continue to live for years with a good quality of life. Kiko is also prone to getting tiny stones in his bladder so needs to stay on a specific brand of food. Kiko is the perfect companion for a single person or adult couple, where he would be the only pet in the home. He would do best in a quiet neighbourhood and would strongly prefer a yard where he could hang out without meeting too many other dogs. Kiko is muzzle trained and needs a family that will advocate for his space when meeting new or unfamiliar people and dogs, and who will help his confidence going up and down stairs. He will also need a family who is committed to working on his leash etiquette, obedience training and overall confidence. Kiko just needs a lot of affection, love, and support from his humans to feel safe. Once he trusts you, he will do anything for you. If you’re interested in adopting Kiko, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Kiko's adoption fee has been generously sponsored. Story
Lua / Female / Approximately 2 years old / 35 lbs / Boxer Mix / Good with calm dogs / Good with cats / No children/ From Mexico / Fostered in Warkworth Lua’s journey began in Mexico. Her mother was found living on a vacant lot tied to a fence, without shelter. She gave birth to four puppies before our rescue partners intervened, cutting her chain and bringing the little family to safety. One of those puppies was Lua, rescued from neglect and now blossoming into a loving, affectionate companion. Lua is a sweet girl with the most expressive eyes. She’s affectionate, playful, and always ready to snuggle. She even thinks she’s a lap dog, curling herself into your lap no matter how awkwardly she has to fit. She loves enrichment, enjoys nose work, and the way to her heart is through dehydrated beef heart (but not fish—she’ll politely turn her nose away). Outdoors, she adores chasing frogs around the yard, nudging their butts to make them hop. With her trusted humans, Lua is loyal, affectionate, and happy to stay close. She can be protective and cautious with new people, particularly with men, preferring to sniff and assess before warming up. Once she’s comfortable, she showers them with love. She’s met respectful teens and has done well, but a kid-free home remains the best fit at this time. Lua has been steadily building confidence in her foster placement. By her first evening, she went from tail tucked tightly to running toward them with excitement, eventually taking treats gently by hand. To avoid over-attachment, her foster family take turns feeding and interacting with her, helping her learn balanced relationships. Lua has also found a special friend—Freedom, a dog from another local rescue. With careful introductions, they began walking together, sharing outdoor time, and playing on the deck. They’ve been spotted kissing and even waiting for each other to drink before resuming play. She shows no resource guarding with toys or treats when with Freedom and could thrive in a home with another calm, balanced dog—or as the only dog, provided she continues supervised socialization through dog-walking dates and slow introductions. Lua also does well with cats, respecting their boundaries while showing curiosity. She enjoys two walks a day but is very athletic and expect she could jump a fence if she wanted to. She loves to sniff, explore, and looks to her humans for reassurance when cars or city sounds make her pause. She’s doing well on leash and grows more confident every day. Indoors, she enjoys enrichment activities and is beginning to discover the joy of toys—though she once shredded one happily in her crate, then calmly let her foster clean up the fluff. Lua is crate trained, housetrained (with some adjustment expected in a new home), and learning impulse control through structured training. She sleeps in her crate overnight and settles when left home alone. She’s eager to learn, smart, and thrives on gentle, positive reinforcement. Lua is a loving, sensitive girl who has already come so far. She’s ready for a foster-to-adopt home or an adopter who will give her the time, structure, and affection to continue her journey. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a big heart and even bigger potential, Lua could be the perfect fit. Due to Lua's unique circumstances, her fee is sponsored by Fetch + Releash. Prospective adopters must commit to attending training sessions with her post-adoption with a certified R+ dog trainer to ensure a successful transition. If you're interested in adopting Lua, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form To learn more about our adoption process, please visit our FAQs at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/about-us#about-faqs.

Story
Elton / Male / 3 months / approx 20 lbs / Mixed Breed (will likely be large fully grown) / Good with Dogs & Kids / Untested with Cats / Local Surrender / Fostered in Toronto ** Follow Elton's journey on Instagram: @tk_fetchfosters** Meet itty bitty Elton! This little pup came to Fetch & Releash at just four weeks old alongside his siblings. As you'd expect from a puppy this young, he's a little ball of rambunctious, curious, and adorable energy. He loves to eat, play, cuddle, and nap, and he'd love to do it as part of your family. We'll give you the big puppy disclaimer later on, but for now, let's focus on the good parts of puppy ownership. This little guy is cute as a button, with his white chest and spot on his forehead. He's also very friendly and outgoing in the way that all puppies are. Everyone is just a friend Elton hasn't met yet, and he'll come bounding up to everyone with the expectation of treats and fun. Elton is also very affectionate, even by puppy standards. He'll come up and sit beside you, looking up with those puppy dog eyes, until you finally gather him up for a hug. Then he'll lick your nose and demand to be let down to get back to playing, as is the way of puppies. Squirming balls of fluffy energy. This little ball of fur could eventually grow into a BIG cuddle monster. Elton and his siblings didn't come to us along with their mother to confirm, but we suspect he's a mix of several larger breeds. The good news is that large breeds are typically kind, affectionate, and loyal dogs who are protective of their families, but still perfectly capable of socializing with other dogs or pets if given the proper training. While Elton doesn't require a lot of space now, the potential size of the breed usually means it'd be a good idea to have a backyard or live near a nice dog park to give him proper exercise. Elton is now 90 percent potty trained, settles quickly into his crate, and sleeps through the night without issue. He's had his first walk and is naturally curious about the world, but he doesn't try to slip his leash. Ongoing obedience and leash training are recommended. Elton also absolutely loves playing with other dogs and would have no problem being the second pet in a household. ABOUT YOU! Puppies are a lot of work.
