Story
AGE: 2 Years SEX: Female BREED: Northern Mix ENERGY LEVEL: Medium DOG FRIENDLY?: Yep! CAT FRIENDLY?: Untested KID FRIENDLY?: Yep! Meet Wendy! This sweet, affectionate girl is a total lovebug who soaks up every bit of attention she can get. She adores cuddles, hugs, belly rubs, and any excuse to be close to her people. Wendy loves to play - fetch is a favourite - and she takes great joy in destroying squeaky toys with enthusiasm. She’s also been wonderful about learning boundaries in her foster home, picking up household routines quickly and settling into family life with ease. Wendy does beautifully in a busy downtown environment, staying calm and confident around all the sights and sounds. She’s very friendly with people and has met kids on her walks, happily leaning in for pets every time. She recently stayed in a home with a child and adored him. She likes other dogs as well and enjoys regular playdates with the neighbour’s dog. She does have some prey drive toward small animals, but with guidance and routine, she’s learning how to navigate walks politely. Indoors she’s generally quiet, though she may whine when left alone, and she’s currently working on crate training as she’s not a huge fan yet, but her fosters are helping her learn that it’s a safe, cozy space. At home, Wendy loves being near her people and greets guests with warmth, always hoping for more pets and belly rubs. She’s social, gentle, and eager to connect, making her a wonderful companion for a home that enjoys affection as much as she does. If you’re looking for a friendly, cuddly, people-loving pup who’s ready to be part of everyday life, Wendy may be the perfect match for your family! Story
FELICE - Lab-Mix / 10 years / 20kg / F-Spayed Beautiful Felice turns 10 in January and we hope to start her year off on the right foot! After being with the same family for the past 6 years, she finds herself ready for a new beginning! She has gone to bootcamp, and girl has been rocking it since day 1! She knows a lot of "rules" already and benefits from consistency. If you say place, she may give you a look that says "do you mean it" and if you simply give her a "yup" she will trot off to settle. She has been a bit confused by her role of "dog", but is catching on quickly to understand her place in the family. Her play style with other dogs is a smidge wonky, as if she hasn't learned to play. Her new canine buddy Michael is working with her on chase, sharing and having fun together. (She loves it!) She is great with dogs, but has the confidence to be a solo dog in the home. She is good with kids too and had some wee humans in her past home. If you think you could be Felice’s forever, check out the adoption process and application at www.dibsrescue.com. Her adoption fee is $500. If you are a family with kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs/).

Story
AGE: 1.5 Years SEX: Female BREED: Husky Mix ENERGY LEVEL: High DOG FRIENDLY?: Yep! CAT FRIENDLY?: Yep! KID FRIENDLY?: Yep! Meet Autumn! Autumn is a playful, fun-loving girl who enjoys long walks and is always eager for new adventures. She loves making new dog friends, soaking up belly rubs, and is a huge fan of her toys - she’ll happily grab the nearest one to chew on and would be delighted if you tossed it for her to chase! Autumn is a happy, social pup who enjoys meeting both people and other dogs. She has welcomed guests into the home with ease, giving them space and respect, yet always excited to greet them warmly. While she enjoys canine companionship and currently lives with another dog, Autumn does best with slow, calm introductions when meeting new dogs, allowing her to settle in and build positive connections at her own pace. Once comfortable, she’s playful, friendly, and loves spending her days playing and hanging out, though she is just as content to settle down afterward. She’s very food motivated, which makes training a breeze! Puzzle toys are a big hit with her and are a great way to channel her energy and keep her mind busy. While she can be a bit strong on the leash, she and her fosters recently worked with a trainer, and she’s making excellent progress. She’s also kid and cat friendly, and would be thrilled to share her home with dogs, cats, and children. Autumn currently lives downtown and does well in that environment, but she would be just as happy living outside the hustle and bustle with some extra room to run! She is both crate and house trained and settles within minutes when left alone. She loves being near her people and, although not overly snuggly, she enjoys affection on her own terms. If you’re looking for a sweet, energetic companion to join you on your daily adventures, Autumn might be the perfect match! Think you might be the right fit to provide a loving home for Autumn? Story
AGE: 4 Months SEX: Female BREED: Shepherd Mix ENERGY LEVEL: High DOG FRIENDLY?: Yep! CAT FRIENDLY?: Yep! KID FRIENDLY?: Yep! Meet Tinkerbell! This curious, energetic little pup loves nothing more than exploring the world around her. She’s a big fan of the outdoors - running, playing, and investigating every new scent she comes across. On walks, she enjoys sitting and watching small animals, taking it all in with bright-eyed fascination. Tinkerbell is very food-motivated (especially if bacon-flavoured treats are involved!) and loves learning new things. She already knows sit and lie down and is working on improving her recall. She also loves chewing, playing ball, and generally turning every outing into an adventure. Tinkerbell is an active girl who thrives with plenty of exercise and outdoor time. She gets excited when meeting new people and is improving on her leash skills, she tends to pull because she’s eager to run, but with continued practice she’ll keep getting better. She has shown some reactivity toward dogs on walks, so extra support and training will help her build confidence. Given her young age, she should adapt well to a home with dogs, cats, and kids. Her curiosity shines everywhere she goes, and her playful, exploratory nature makes her a fun and engaging companion for anyone who loves being outside. At home, Tinkerbell’s sweet side comes out. She’s doing great with her crate training and is fully house trained. She can be vocal when she wants something, but with consistency and guidance she’s learning to communicate in calmer ways. After a full day of activity, she’s more than happy to curl up with a cozy blanket and settle in for snuggly downtime when she’s gotten her energy out. If you’re looking for an active, enthusiastic puppy who’s ready to join you on all your adventures, Tinkerbell may be the perfect addition to your family! Story
** DEXTER'S ADOPTION FEE IS SPONSORED ** Dexter / Male / Approx 3 years / 50 lbs / Australian Cattle Dog Mix / Good with Dogs / Good with Children / Good with Cats / Medium-Low Energy / From Tennessee / Fostered in Brampton ** Follow Dexter's journey on Instagram: @lilcuddlebugfosters** Meet Dexter! This handsome boy is full of joy and never-ending affection. He is sweet, calm, friendly, sometimes goofy and very loving to his people. Giving people hugs and kisses is one of his favourite things and he'll happily greet you when you get home. He's excited to do whatever you feel like - from going for a walk to lounging on the couch. Dexter is very affectionate, he likes to stick close to his trusted humans. When meeting new people, he may take time to warm up, and appreciates slow introductions and time to observe and sniff. Dexter has lived with children ages 7 -17 and treated them the same as the adults. To Dexter, his humans are the best and he loves to play and cuddle with them all. Dexter walks well on leash and does not pull. He currently gets two walks a day of 30-45 minutes. He also loves play time in the backyard with his canine foster sister. He gets along well with other dogs who match his laid back energy and is good at reading cues. Dexter would be a great second dog in a home, but could also do well as the only dog. Dexter has not been tested with cats. On rare occasions, he can be a little uneasy and may bark or react when passing strange men or fast moving people running or on bikes. Dexter is great when left home alone and settles immediately. He is not crated and usually just curls up on a dog bed or the couch and chills out until his people come home. He may counter surf so it’s important to make sure all food is put away when leaving him. Dexter has been left for up to six hours without issue and is fully potty trained. While in foster care, Dexter received a diagnosis of megaesophagus which comes with some long-term care. Megaesophagus means that Dexter’s body doesn’t push food into his stomach the way it should. He is stable on medication and a regime of 3 meals per day fed while he is in an elevated position in a Bailey Chair. Dexter has become fairly accustomed to using his chair and will sit in it for up to 30 minutes after he eats. Small amounts of regurgitation is common for dogs with this condition and their health should be monitored. He also uses a travel pillow when lying down which minimizes the regurgitation. If you are interested in Dexter but have questions about his condition, please reach out and we would be happy to connect you with his vetting team to discuss further. Dexter’s ideal home would be with a loving family who is ready for endless kisses and has a willingness to commit to his healthcare. He is young and enjoys a daily walk with a few chances for potty breaks throughout the day. Dexter would do best in a home with a yard in a quiet area. Dexter is a real gem and wants nothing more than a committed family with whom he can enjoy his life. If you are looking for a fun-loving companion, Dexter is your guy. He has so much love to give and will brighten up your home. Story
Elizabeth is available for Foster to Adopt! We'd love to welcome Elizabeth into the Fetch + Releash family on January 7, 2026. In order to secure a spot on the flight, she needs a committed foster-to-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take her home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Elizabeth / Female / 10 months old / 40 lbs / Mixed Breed / From Antigua Elizabeth is a happy, well-adjusted young pup who is ready to find her forever family. She was rescued alongside her littermates after being born to a stray mama, and thanks to great foster care, she’s grown into a confident, loving, and social dog. Elizabeth is truly a “gets-along-with-everyone” kind of girl. She currently lives in a foster home with one of her sisters, dogs, and cats, and she does wonderfully with them all. She has also spent time with children ages 9 and 13 and did great, making her a lovely option for a family with respectful kids. This sweet girl is house-trained, walks nicely on leash, and enjoys her daily outings, especially beach walks and swimming. She has a fun, playful side and loves retrieving treasures from the bushes to proudly show off. Elizabeth is a medium-energy girl who enjoys daily walks and would benefit from at least two outings a day, along with some canine enrichment to keep her mind engaged. While she is not crate trained, she has excellent manners in the home. Elizabeth would thrive in a home looking for a friendly, adaptable, and affectionate companion who fits easily into everyday life. If you’re searching for a young dog who checks all the boxes (social, gentle, and easygoing) Elizabeth may be the perfect addition to your family. If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Elizabeth's adoption fee is $850.
