We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Lucy is a two year old gorgeous girl that came to the shelter with a few of her friends when their previous owners were unable to bring them on a move. Lucy was very shy at the shelter, and wasn't comfortable showing us much of her personality. We do know that she is comfortable around other cats as well as children, and would be a good fit for a variety of different homes. What Lucy needs most is for someone to show her the love and patience she needs to come out of her shell and truly shine! If you are interested in giving Lucy the home she deserves, apply today!

Story
This handsome fellow, Little Lion Man, might have a mighty name, but his heart is pure sweetness. Don't be fooled by his mane (or maybe it's just adorable fluff!), Little Lion Man is a total cuddle monster. He thrives on attention and won't hesitate to shower you with purrs in exchange for some head scratches or a good belly rub. While Little Lion Man loves his humans, he prefers a quieter environment. Homes with young children might be a bit too much for this mellow guy. He would blossom in a calm, low-traffic home where he can relax and soak up all the love you have to offer. If you're looking for a purrfectly affectionate companion who enjoys peace and quiet, Little Lion Man might just be your king! Here's a quick rundown of Little Lion Man's purrsonality:Super sweet and affectionateLoves attention and cuddlesPrefers a calm, low-traffic homeNot a big fan of childrenIs Little Lion Man your dream kitty? Story
*I AM CURRENTLY OUT OF THE SHELTER UNTIL 4/23/24*Hello, my name is Clara. I am a 3 year old domestic long hair looking for my forever home. I am a shy but sweet kitty who would love a lap to curl up on everyday. I enjoy being petted by my humans and may enjoy playing with toys once I come out of my shell.I don`t know how I am with other cats or dogs and will need slow, proper introductions with them in the home.I have beautiful long fur that will need to be brushed daily to make sure it stays luscious and tangle free.I am up to date on my vaccinations but will need a regular veterinarian to make sure I stay happy and healthy for my whole life.If I sound like the feline for you come up and meet me!If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm and Saturday 10am-3pm. To help speed up the application process, it is recommended that you complete the online application form found at the link below. My adoption fee is $50
