Story
They call me Smooshy. Honestly I could stop writing my bio right there because that tells you all you need to know. I am a big Smooshy lovebug of a cat. But I know ya'll are nosy so I'll give you more information. I am only 4-years-old and boy have I been through it. In the past I have struggled with constipation, but as we all know hot girls have tummy problems so it doesn't really mean anything. I'm a boy by the way, but for the sake of staying true to the cause you just have to roll with it sometimes. That's all resolved now with my prescription diet that I absolutely love because that's just the good boy that I am. Enough about my stomach though, onto the good stuff! I am uber cuddly and affectionate. You think you've met friendly cats before? No, you haven't. I am so affectionate, social, friendly, and outgoing, that I literally came packaged up with a PERSONALIZED NOTE about what a good boy I am and how I am so very well loved by the vet staff that I can come back at any point. When's the last time you got a note from your doctor about how awesome you are? Didn't think so. I would do amazing as an only cat or in a home with one other laid back cat. I'm learning to love the dog in my foster home and would also do well if you have a dog that is calm and very respectful of cat boundaries. I'm not a big fan of kids - I had a couple kids who were so mean and cruel to me at one point that I actually lost 3 pounds from the stress of it. I'm all about that child free life now. Plus things aren't nearly as sticky. I am polite and always use my litterbox, plus I'm great with my scratching posts and pads. Overall if you want a mega affectionate, gentle, loving, total ham ball of a cat that's just happy to bask in your presence - I'm your guy! Smooshy is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting him , please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org. Adoption fees are as follows: $175 for a single cat or kitten, $225 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

Story
Meet Scout – Your Gentle, Fluffy Shadow Scout is a beautiful black, long-haired girl with a soft spirit and an even softer coat. Scout is on the shy side and appreciates a calm, patient environment where she can feel safe and come out of her shell at her own pace. But once she trusts you, she reveals the sweetest, most endearing personality. She absolutely loves affection—belly rubs are one of her favorite things, and she’ll melt right into you for pets. Scout has an adorable habit of holding your hand and rolling into you, making every interaction feel extra special and full of trust. Comfort is key for this girl, and her dream setup includes a cozy hammock where she can relax and feel secure while still being near her people. She enjoys quiet companionship and would thrive with someone who understands that the best bonds take a little time to grow. Scout gets along well with other cats, especially her brother Rill, who can help boost her confidence. While they don’t have to be adopted together, they do make a wonderful pair. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who will reward your patience with deep affection and trust, Scout is ready to find her forever home. Soft, shy, and full of love—Scout is waiting just for you. Scout is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

Story
"Poured from Tradition, Sparked with Spirit!" Vernors is filled with so much love and spirit to give to her forever home. She is a female medium haired brown tabby with crazy cool markings. This little girl was born in March 2026 and was looked after by her mom until she got her head stuck in a deck railing. She was safely cut from the deck and has been living in a foster home ever since with her new friends, Cherry Coke and Dr Pepper Zero. Vernors loves everyone including people, kids, dogs and other cats. She is a sweet, playful, energetic and snuggly little kitten. She is looking for a home that will keep up with her energy but also give her the cuddles she deserves. She will be happiest in a home with another energetic kitty to play with. She is definitely a classic that never flizzles! Vernors is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org. Story
Meet Harley Quinn! Don't let the name fool you—this Harley Quinn is all sweetness and snuggles! At 4 years old, this beautiful medium-haired lady is sporting a gorgeous, fluffy coat that's just begging to be petted... and she's more than happy to curl up in your lap while you do it. Harley came to us after being left at a veterinary. Since then, she's done wonderfully both at the vet and in her foster environment. She currently eats a urinary/stress and gastrointestinal support diet (dry food with gravy-style wet food), and she's been thriving on her routine. Harley is front declawed, so she's looking for an indoor-only home where she can feel safe and secure. She isn't a fan of dogs, but she has shown curiosity about other cats and may do well with a calm feline companion given slow, proper introductions. Her ideal home would be a quiet, low-stress environment where she can settle in at her own pace and soak up all the love she deserves. If you're searching for a sweet, fluffy lap cat who will happily keep you company during cozy evenings at home, Harley Quinn might just be your perfect match. Harley Quinn is currently at our PetSmart location on Woodward. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

Story
Vina is nine years old. She is an indoor cat and is rather antisocial with others, but extremely loving with me. Basically, a one person cat. Due to recent changes in my lifestyle, I will not be at home frequently. She does not travel well. I feel it’s unfair just to have someone come into feed her and change litter every other day for a couple months at a time. I’m looking for a single person who just wants company in his or her home.
