Story
Toby is between the 6-12 months old. He was hanging out with a stray colony of cats for about 4 months. It appears that he did live in a home at some point in his life. Toby is very friendly and adjusting to his foster home well. He does have urges to go out so it’s important that his new family will keep a close eye on him to ensure he doesn’t get loose. I have no doubts that he can live comfortably 100% in a home. Toby is very people friendly. He runs to greet new people who come over. He does well with other cats. He did well in his outdoor colony and wants to play with the resident cats in his foster home (although they currently want nothing to do with him). Toby has been using the litter box consistently. He enjoys all the toys and is currently learning what a scratching post is. He does sometimes jump on furniture but listens very well. Toby is very tolerable. He did well with a bath and during his vet exam. He will be fully vetted and neutered upon adoption.

Story
Meet Jean Grey, your ideal work-from-home companion! This affectionate feline is ready to assist you in all your daily tasks, even if her typing skills result in 200 gibberish letters per minute. Jean Grey thrives on human interaction, enjoying pets and purring on command. She loves to stay close, whether she's lounging beside you or seeking your attention. When not assisting you, she enjoys basking in sunny spots, taking well-deserved naps after her 'hard work.' Her mesmerizing green-eyed gaze is sure to capture your heart. Jean Grey prefers to be the sole feline in the household to soak up all the affection but gets along well with dogs. She came to the rescue after her previous owner faced increased travel commitments and could no longer keep her. Jean Grey is up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, and eagerly awaiting her forever home. Jean Grey is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting him, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org. Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

Story
Meet Gus – A Gentle Soul with a Heart Ready to Heal Gus is a calm and quiet sweetheart with the softest spirit. Rescued from a hoarding situation, he’s still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place—but with patience and kindness, he’s already come such a long way. This chill guy is a pro at lounging in cozy spots, especially by a window where he can peacefully watch the world go by. He loves neck scratches, gentle brushing sessions, and curling up beside you on top of the covers—his way of showing trust and affection. Cat-Loving Companion – He adores other cats and would thrive in a home with a feline friend to help him feel safe. Cuddle Buddy – He may be shy, but when it’s time to rest, Gus is right there snuggling beside you. Quiet Home Preferred – A serene, patient environment will help Gus continue to blossom. Gus doesn’t ask for much—just time, understanding, and a soft place to land. In return, he’ll offer you quiet companionship, gentle affection, and the joy of watching a once-shy cat learn to love and trust again. If you’re looking for a laid-back, loving buddy and have a calm home with a welcoming heart, Gus may be the perfect match. Story
Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is one of the most common diseases of cats around the world. Here is more info about FIV How do cats get the feline immunodeficiency virus? The most common route of infection is a deep bite wound from an FIV-positive cat to another cat. It can also be transmitted via blood, in utero and from the milk of an infected mother cat. Many FIV-positive cats and FIV-negative cats live together in the same home for years without spreading the virus to the non-infected cats. FIV is NOT able to infect any other animals or humans - it is a cat-only virus. Can FIV be treated? There are no proven treatments to rid a cat of FIV. Most FIV-positive cats handle the disease well, but it is important to concentrate on treating the secondary illnesses. Can cats with the virus have a good and long life? Yes, FIV-positive cats can live normal lives, both in quality and duration. They just need to be monitored for infections and dental issues. But if they're well cared for, they can be healthy, happy, wonderful pets. Can FIV-negative and FIV-positive cats live together? Yes, as long as the cats get along and do not fight. The risk of an FIV-positive cat spreading the virus to an FIV-negative cat can be minimized by putting both cats in separate rooms until you are confident that they will not fight with each other. If you are interested in adopting me, we strongly encourage you to fill out an adoption app beforehand. ADOPTION APPLICATION .
