Story
Meet Bucky! He’s a one-year-old, 81-pound Great Pyrenees/Poodle mix with a gentle soul and a resilient spirit. Bucky was found abandoned in a junkyard, unable to care for himself. He was born with deformed front legs. One is only half the size it should be and the other is missing altogether. Despite everything he’s been through, Bucky is sweet, loving, and incredibly strong. Bucky is fully potty trained and crate trained. He would thrive in a house with a yard and minimal stairs. Bucky loves dogs of all sizes and is an extremely gentle playmate to even his tiniest friends. He has also recently met a cat for the first time and did fantastic! He is comfortable and confident with his mobility and is seeking a home where he can be loved for who he is! We have tried various mobility aids, but it is clear Bucky prefers to get around on his own. We haven’t been able to find Bucky the right forever home in Los Angeles, so we’re expanding the search for his family nationwide! To help set Bucky up in his forever home, Impact Dog Crates will be donating a crate and crate mat and JustFoodForDogs will be donating SIX MONTHS OF FOOD! Bucky doesn’t realize he’s any different from other dogs. His determination is unmatched, and his confidence has flourished since he arrived in our care. We welcomed him with open arms, and he’s always eager to return the love with big hugs. However, continuous change has caused Bucky to become uncertain of his place, and he has lost some confidence. Bucky is now back at training for a two-week program, and our goal is to be able to send him to his forever home once his program ends. After years of neglect, this sweet boy is so deserving of an adopter who can give him the soft place to land he’s been waiting for.

Story
Sugar is a 7-year-old Pyrenees mix with the kindest heart and the sweetest soul. While we don’t know much about her life before rescue, it’s clear she hasn’t always had it easy. She came to us with a skin condition and significant dental wear and despite that, Sugar is nothing but gentle, loving, and grateful. Her foster describes her as an absolute angel. Sugar is calm, well-behaved, and deeply affectionate. She forms bonds quickly and seems to truly appreciate the comfort and care of a loving home. Sugar does wonderfully with confident dogs and has been lovely on social outings. She enjoys beach days and family adventures, and while she can be a little unsure around fast-moving bikes or busy foot traffic on walks, she continues to gain confidence every day. She’s a smart, eager-to-please girl who already knows how to sit and patiently waits while her leash is put on. She enjoys playtime, loves her chew toys and lick mats, and still has plenty of joy and curiosity for life. At home, Sugar is the ultimate companion. She loves belly rubs, leans in close for affection, and is happiest curled up near her people for a cozy night in. She’s the perfect balance of adventure buddy and couch companion. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal, family-friendly dog with a heart of gold, Sugar is ready to meet you.

Story
We got sugar when she was a puppy, she is 5 years old now. Due to my life altering situations she can not be walked as much as she needs to be, since we live in an apartment, she is in her crate for way to long and that is not fair to her. We spent a great deal into training her. She is a great guard dog and great with kids, she is trained and you can even take her food away while she is eating and doesn’t attack. She loves to cuddle and really knows how to protect.

Story
I'm fostering Teddy after his time was up at the Baldwin Park shelter. He’s smart, food motivated so very trainable. He’s housetrained, does all his business on his am and pm walks. He walks well on a leash. He likes car rides, literally jumps right in. He loves playing with toys and is good at fetch. He tolerates baths well and was a good patient at the vets. He’s a sweet boy, who will sit on your feet, loves cuddles and hugs and really enjoys being brushed. Unfortunately, Teddy is very reactive to dogs. Just seeing another dog causes Teddy to react loudly and dramatically. It seems to be driven by anxiety rather than aggression. He has definitely made some progress while he’s been with us and adjusted to our home. I think because he's relatively young and trainable some real progress can be made. I think Teddy would be best suited to be the only dog in a house with someone who understands his reactivity and has the time and resources to work with him to improve.

Story
Meet Kona – A Majestic Guardian Ready for Her Ideal Home! Kona is a beautiful five-and-a-half-year-old Anatolian Shepherd currently living in Glassell Park, CA, with a heart set on finding her perfect new family, wherever they may be. This spirited companion finds joy in the simple things – from chew toys and tennis balls to invigorating runs and cozy lounging. Her loyalty is unwavering, and she adores being close to her loved ones, content to follow them or relax nearby in a favorite chair. Kona’s perfect home would be a spacious, outdoor environment – ideally, acres of open land where she can fulfill her natural role as a guardian. Bred for protecting livestock, she has a keen instinct for surveying her surroundings and would thrive in a place where she can roam freely and keep an eye on her territory. Kona would be especially well-suited for a home where she could be a "guardian of the land," patrolling her space with purpose. In addition to space, Kona’s ideal family would be experienced with protective breeds. She needs a confident handler who can offer the firm, calm guidance she requires, especially in situations where she needs clear instruction. Though she may show territorial protectiveness at home, Kona is quite friendly in neutral spaces like boarding facilities, and she’s known for her gentle nature around children. Kona’s perfect match will appreciate her loyal, independent spirit and offer her the calm, stable environment she craves – ideally with limited visitors to respect her need for a secure space. Fully crate trained, vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and house-trained, Kona is more than ready for a new beginning. If you’re captivated by her charm and have the experience and space to offer this wonderful dog her ideal home, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com today! Kona is ready to embark on her next adventure – could it be with you?

Story
Meet Titus! A spirited almost two-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix currently in Santee, CA, whose essence is a beautiful blend of loyalty, playfulness, and gentle strength, wrapped in a beige and tan coat with striking black ears and a noble black muzzle. Titus is the kind of companion who brings warmth and comfort just by being near. Affectionate and deeply connected to those around him, he’s played an important role in helping a family member through tough times and now he’s ready to find a new loving home where he can thrive both physically and emotionally. At around 84 pounds, Titus is a large pup with an even bigger heart! He's playful, enjoys affection, and thrives on companionship, whether it’s human or canine. This outdoorsy guy is happiest when he’s out exploring. Whether it's a long hike, a walk through the neighborhood, or romping at the dog park, Titus embraces it all with enthusiasm! He’s a big fan of squeaky toys and balls, and he especially enjoys the social scene at doggie daycare. He’s shown no signs of guarding or food aggression and gets along well with other dogs, often delighting in the opportunity to play. Though he's not lived with children or cats, he’s always friendly when meeting new people and loves gentle pets from curious little hands. Titus is leash trained, house-trained, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He knows basic commands like sit, down, stay, come, mine, and release. When left alone for short periods, he mostly snoozes peacefully. He’s sensitive to raised voices and the occasional scary animal on TV, so a calm, caring environment will help him feel secure. Titus would do best with guardians experienced with large breeds, especially those familiar with livestock guardian types. A fenced yard is a must for his zoomies and sunbathing sessions, and a canine playmate would be the cherry on top of his perfect day! Are you the kind-hearted, active family Titus needs to continue his journey of love, play, and adventure? If so, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about bringing this affectionate explorer into your life! Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets.
