Story
Big Mac isn’t just an 80-pound furball — he’s a gentle giant with an even bigger heart. This 8 ½-year-old Great Pyrenees/Husky mix has the perfect balance of guardian spirit and adventurous soul. Sadly, Mac was surrendered by the only person he’d ever known when she moved, but he hasn’t lost his sweet nature. He truly is the definition of a “gentle giant”: ✨ Walks beautifully on leash ✨ Housetrained ✨ Loves belly rubs & lounging ✨ Enjoys playdates with his dog friends ✨ Car rides & beach walks are his favorite ✨ Knows “sit” and “paw” — and takes treats so gently Big Mac would thrive in a quiet, loving home where he can be your loyal companion. He’s neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped — and thanks to a generous sponsor, his adoption fee is fully covered. 💙 Ready to fall in love with Big Mac? Not super high energy but does love to run in the yard with my larger dog. He gets super excited when anyone in the house comes home, He attaches very well to the household residents. He is happy to snuggle on the sofa for hours. He sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom.  He is also fine to stay in his crate. He can be left in the house alone when no one is home and he is always just snuggled up sleeping. He loves his cozy sweaters and has a blast playing in the snow. He loves car rides too. He has not been around smaller dogs or cats.  He does chase squirrels and birds in the yard, always! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 7, 2026, 9:01 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Alex (GA) is a male Great Pyrenees mix rescued in Georgia, estimated to be 7 months old in October 2021 and likely to be 85-95 pounds when full-grown. His foster mom says he is a 'giant, crazy and insanely happy puppy!' All people are his friends (he especially loves men!), he loves other dogs, and even likes cats.  Alex will do best in a suburban home with a fenced yard and an energetic doggy companion on the larger side who wants to play much of the day. He loves to eat as much as he loves to play. If there are children in the home, they should be on the older side: Alex really doesn't know how big he is!  He's working on his chewing, mouthing, leash and meal-time manners - the usual puppy behaviors which will benefit from continued and consistent training in his adoptive home as he grows into adulthood. True to his breed, he can be stubborn, he is very smart and his big personality matches his size. He has a true zest for life, so he's a fun, interesting and busy guy!  Alex has been neutered and microchipped, and will be up to date on core vaccines (age appropriate) at time of adoption. If you would like to take Alex home, please apply online to adopt Alex (GA) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 10:34 am

Story
Elizabeth - 2 years, 76lbs, PYR & Retriever Mix, Spayed  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience required: INTERMEDIATE – This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level:MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet because this pup is brand new to us. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age carefully.  Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2643765##
