Story
Miska is one of three pups that was living under an abandoned house on a very rural dirt road. But that is all a distant memory as they are all nice and plump happy go lucky pups now! Tikaani (full brindle) and Sakari (cream) are male pups and Miska (brindle and cream) is female. They each weigh about 25# at approximately 11 weeks of age. These pups are very sweet easy going calm good natured pups. They were initially very skittish and may be shy when meeting new people especially Miska but they come around pretty quickly. They play nicely together although Tikaani wants all the toys for himself. And the boys do often gang up on their sister but, all in all, this litter has been a pleasure! And of course I'm a sucker for the bigger breed pups! I do suspect these pups to grow large potentially with the boys approaching 100#! But they are going to be big ole couch potatoes! Love these three and you will too!!! These three are going to make whoever adopts any one of them amazing companions and friends!!!

Story
Meet Rocky, a three-month-old, 10 lb. Great Pyrenees mix puppy with the softest cream coat. floppy ears, and gentle brown eyes. We expect he'll be 45-55 lbs. once full grown. He was found roaming the streets down south before being brought in by a good samaritan. He’s currently in Texas awaiting an adopter or foster so he can travel up north to find his furever family! Rocky is a typical happy-go-lucky puppy with a love for people, other dogs, and adventure! He's happiest running around with his friends, playing with his toys, and hanging out with his people. Rocky is a very sweet boy who enjoys being held and getting lots of pets and belly rubs. He's a silly pup and enjoys playing with other dogs too. Being that he's young, he'll need someone who's going to be home often and commit to training. He is displaying typical puppy energy for his age, and is doing well with pee pads and starting to go potty outside. Rocky is friendly with everyone he meets and will make a perfect addition to any family! His adoption fee is $450 and he has received his first round of puppy vaccines and will be neutered and microchipped. If you are interested in Rocky, please complete the application at form.jotform.com/200883908893166. For questions, email info@happilyfureverafter.org.

Story
It was nearly the "eleventh hour" when we got word that Whisper needed rescuing, and he needed it badly, as he was on the euthanasia list at the overcrowded shelter in AL. PHEW! His prior owner shared some information with us, “We called him Whisper and he is one and a half years old. Whisper was loved and missed, and he was never abused. My brother left him with me, but I do not have a fenced yard for him so if he was outside, he was on a chain. I’m 60 years old and disabled so I couldn’t walk him like he needed. Whisper is smart and he never “went “in the house, no matter how long I was gone. When he has to go, he will tap his nose on you and let you know he’s gotta go. He is good with dogs, and he teases cats. Also, he likes to cuddle up and lay his head on your shoulder. He believes he’s a lap dog and he wants to be loved. He’s a happy dog. I hate that I left him at the shelter. I have missed and grieved for him. I just hope somebody will love him like I do. Thank you again for taking him. “ Whisper has some of the best personality features that will make you swoon over him. This boy is quite the social butterfly, and he has yet to meet anyone he does not immediately love. When it comes to his four-legged friends, Whisper is the most pawsome fellow. And he will transform into a big cuddly teddy bear when it is time for snuggles or naps. Whisper is at the age where he is like a sponge, soaking up EVERYTHING that you teach him - not only is he smart, but he also has a strong desire to please. If you can spare a few minutes every day, we are pawsitive that Whisper will accumulate many cute tricks for you to show off. Whisper's foster mom shared some wonderful details about this amazing boy. "Whisper is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever fostered. He is very responsive to my voice and wants to be with his people all the time. When I am working at the computer, he jumps up onto his blanket on my bed and lays there watching me (waiting for me to get up to play with him, take him for a walk, pet him, or give him a treat). He loves playing with our 11-month-old golden puppy. When they aren't napping by my side, they are chasing each other in the yard or wrestling with each other. Despite being double the puppy's size, he is very gentle with her and I never hear a yelp. He plays appropriately and lets her pin him on his back from time to time. He is also very gentle with my 13-year-old senior lab." (You can see Whisper play with Lexi in this video.) "At our mealtime, he comes to say hello at the table, and then either lays down by us or wanders around looking for a toy, my puppy, or a nap spot. He doesn't beg from the table. While he did counter surf once, I corrected him and he hasn't done it since. He sits very nicely (and quickly) for a treat and nibbles it ever so carefully from your fingers. He likes treats! At bedtime, he tries to sleep up on his spot on our bed, but we make him get down and he sleeps on his dog bed and does very well through the night. He is fully house-trained and either barks to go out or goes to the door and waits for you to open it." "We walk him with a harness because, with a regular leash and collar, he pulls too hard for me to walk him, but with the harness, he is much better. We are working on leash manners with some success. He loves walks and walks pretty well when he accompanies my other dogs. We are also working on "off" - his biggest manners faux pax is jumping on people. I have left him in the house alone, uncrated, and he was fine. He doesn't chew on any of our things; he has very nice manners that way. I am greeted with a wagging tail and lots of kisses upon my return. He isn't a big barker, but he does bark if the Amazon or pizza delivery person comes into the yard or a dog walks by the house. He also alerts us when those gray bushy-tailed interlopers are on the deck eating peanuts put out for the birds! He LOVES running around in our fenced yard. He chases a ball but doesn't often bring it back." "He is a big, strong dog with the heart of a gentle giant. With a little work on the leash and some more basic commands, he will be an AMAZING dog for some lucky adopter!" Lisa, our lead volunteer in AL noticed that Whisper did not fully sit down on his left buttock. Upon being x-rayed, it was determined that Whisper had a bullet lodged in the muscle of that buttock. No surgery is recommended as the surgery itself could do more harm than leaving the bullet in. Whisper is not impaired in any way - he is an active, healthy boy! As you can see in this video how he prances and has a beautiful gait. Whisper is a big fella and weighs about 90 lbs. He has a beautiful patchwork style coat of cream and rust - truly a looker if we ever saw one! Whisper has so much pawtential, the only thing he needs is for you to take him home! Whisper is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Whisper is in a foster home in CT and is just waiting for his heart person to find him! Please contact Cheryl if you are already approved to adopt through SGRR and would like to give this precious fellow his forever home. If not yet approved, please fill out an application to be considered. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to take on whatever comes with the dog. It is up to YOU to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue. If you would like to be part of Whisper's rescue story and are already approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl to be considered to adopt Whisper. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to lean more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. SGRR ADOPTION FEES - Effective May 1, 2020 (subject to change) $750 Puppy - up to 6 months $650 Young 6 months - 6 years $550 Senior 7 - 9 years $450 Senior 10 years and older $550 Young Special Needs $400 Senior 7+ Special Needs $1000 Young Bonded Pair $900 Senior 7+ Bonded Pair A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Please be a ray of light for this Sunshine dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a Sunshine dog. Meet cuddly Mario. He is a brown, dusted with black, and white Great Pyrenees mix born 12/25/2022. He is going to be big! He is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and has been given a ProHeart 6 for heartworm protection. His adoption donation is $450.00 and the transport fee $165.00. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
