Story
Meet Big Mac 🍔 — and yes, he’s just as irresistible as the name suggests… but with way more fluff and significantly fewer calories. At 80 pounds of pure love, this 8½-year-old Great Pyrenees/Husky mix is basically a walking, tail-wagging cloud with a heart to match. He’s got that perfect combo of “I will protect you from imaginary squirrels” and “let’s take a nice, leisurely stroll and then nap about it.” Mac sadly lost the only home he ever knew when his owner moved, but he’s handled it like a true gentleman — with grace, sweetness, and just a tiny bit of “where are my belly rubs?” energy. Here’s what makes Big Mac extra special: ✨ Walks beautifully on leash (no dragging you down the street like a sled dog… promise) ✨ Housetrained (a very civilized gentleman) ✨ Professional belly-rub enthusiast ✨ Loves hanging with his dog friends ✨ Car rides & beach walks = his version of a spa day ✨ Knows “sit” and “paw” — and takes treats like he’s at a 5-star restaurant Now, full disclosure from Mac himself: 🍗 “I do take my meals very seriously… think ‘fine dining security guard.’ I prefer to enjoy my food without interruptions — a guy’s gotta have boundaries!” Big Mac is looking for a calm, loving home where he can be your loyal shadow, your couch companion, and your personal (very fluffy) security system. He’s neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped — and thanks to a generous sponsor, his adoption fee is fully covered (yes, you read that right… he’s basically a priceless deal). 💙 Ready to make your life 80 pounds better? Apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POSH/Dog Trust us… once you meet Big Mac, you’ll be supersized on love for life. 🍔🐾

Story
This gentle giant is Maximus, a five year old Great Pyrenees mix/Best Dog Ever. With a calm, patient, and loyal temperament he is unfazed by the happy chaos that can be part of shelter life, simply taking everything in stride. Preferring a predictable routine, he enjoys frequent walks with the dog manager at the other end of the leash, offering him sage advice, and chatting about their lunch menu. Warm and affable, he makes friends easily (both two and four-legged), due to his effortless charm and welcoming spirit. A stand-out in any crowd, you’ll immediately be drawn in by this mountain-sized canine with an even bigger heart. Take your adoption search to the Maximus…visit Little Shelter today! **Fun fact: In the 17th century, King Louis XIV adopted the Great Pyrenees as the Royal Dog of France, making them popular with nobility for estate guarding** *Maximus is fully grown and housebroken*

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Alex (GA) is a male Great Pyrenees mix rescued in Georgia, estimated to be 7 months old in October 2021 and likely to be 85-95 pounds when full-grown. His foster mom says he is a 'giant, crazy and insanely happy puppy!' All people are his friends (he especially loves men!), he loves other dogs, and even likes cats.  Alex will do best in a suburban home with a fenced yard and an energetic doggy companion on the larger side who wants to play much of the day. He loves to eat as much as he loves to play. If there are children in the home, they should be on the older side: Alex really doesn't know how big he is!  He's working on his chewing, mouthing, leash and meal-time manners - the usual puppy behaviors which will benefit from continued and consistent training in his adoptive home as he grows into adulthood. True to his breed, he can be stubborn, he is very smart and his big personality matches his size. He has a true zest for life, so he's a fun, interesting and busy guy!  Alex has been neutered and microchipped. Alex's adoption fee is $450. If you would like to take Alex home, please apply online to adopt Alex (GA) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 6, 2026, 2:05 am

Story
Tucker AKA Tommy :)  - 10 months & 60lbs (as of 5/27), Pyr & Lab Mix, Neutered Estimated Full Grown Size Around 80lbs  This puppy is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Thier Foster Parent Says: "We could go on and on about Tommy. He is such an incredibly affectionate, gentle, goofy puppy with massive golden retriever energy. He loves to cuddle on the couch while you watch TV, carrying toys around the house (especially ones that look like birds), chewing on bully sticks, and running around outside. One of our absolute favorite things about him is the way he leans his full weight into you when he’s happy (which is basically all the time). It genuinely feels like a warm hug. He’s still learning that the world can be safe, so new things like riding in elevators and walking into stores were initially intimidating for him, but once he is in a new environment, he adapts remarkably fast and is totally peaceful. Tommy absolutely thrives with structure, patience, and a chill environment, and he just really wants to connect with and please his people. His routine has been two long walks a day, plus two potty breaks, plenty of enforced rest (crated or tethered), and he eats his meals at 8am and 6pm (he’s been loving Ollie 5-6 cups/day). The TLDR on Tommy is this: he's a deeply sweet, affable, curious, loving dog who just wants to find his forever home. He’s going to grow up to become an incredible family dog and companion." Level of dog ownership experience required:INTERMEDIATE – As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. ENERGY LEVELHigher - Tommy is somewhere between Medium and High. He will benefit enormously from additional/regular socializing, mental engagement, walks and obedience training. TOLERANCE TO CITYAdjusting to the city (but in a week or less he will be a pro) Tommy is remarkably resilient and adaptable. After just one night with us, we took him upstate where it was quiet and he had plenty of land to run around on, which he absolutely loved. So far, his adjustment to city life has been going really well. He still gets startled by loud noises and needs a little time to build confidence, but he’s completely fine in bustling environments and continues to settle in more every day.POTTY TRAININGYes - needs patience for the first few days but he gets into the swing of things COMFORT LEVEL WITH STRANGERSSocial butterfly - Tommy has zero problems with people, children or other dogs. BEHAVIOR WITH CHILDREN (always requires adult supervision)Yes  - We see no issues with Tommy and children. He couldn't be friendlier. SOCIAL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER DOGSYes – Good with most other dogs (sizes, breeds, etc.) as far as we know and enjoys socializing with other caninesRESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER ANIMALS (cats, small pets, etc.)Yes MOUTHY BEHAVIORWorking on it - With more training and structure, I don’t see this being an issue. (Tommy is a MASSIVE chewer however, and he's already gone through 10+ toys, bully sticks, our couch...etc). He’s never been mouthy with us, but like many puppies, he’ll happily go for shoes, pillows, or anything left within reach. To solve for that, we made sure he always had plenty of chew toys, PB kongs, and a bully stick each day, which helps a lot.SEPARATION ANXIETY Doing Great - Tommy is able to sleep alone in his own room. He may protest-whine a little at first, but it never lasts long as long as he’s ignored and has something to self-soothe with, like a chew toy or Kong. With continued training and consistency, he should do completely fine. He’s clearly been through a lot, but he’s remarkably adaptable and resilient. We have "enforced rest" periods where he's able to be alone in the office (tethered) or crated alone for up to 2.5-3 hours. LEASH MANNERSGetting the hang of it  - Tommy was a massive puller, but we’re currently working on leash training with him, and every day gets easier for him. It's night and day from the first few days and we would highly recommend his next owner use a rope slip lead (he has chewed through 3 nylon leads thus far). CUDDLE BUG LEVELHigh – Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the time - Tommy is the ultimate cuddler. JUMPING ON PEOPLE TO SAY HELLOListens to correction - This is another area where training will do the trick. He's incredibly eager to please. CRATE TRAINING Yes - Now fully crate trained Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines, spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake. (For dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age.) How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses.  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2746885##

Story
Meet Jellyroll! Jellyroll is a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees/Boxer mix with a handsome white-and-tan coat and the sweetest freckled nose. Weighing in at about 90 lbs, this big guy is equal parts playful goofball and loyal couch companion. Jellyroll loves staying active — dog park romps, hiking adventures, and outdoor playtime are right up his alley. When the fun winds down, he’s just as happy taking a long afternoon nap curled up beside his people. He knows how to sit nicely for treats, is fully house trained, and has lived with small children since he was just 9 weeks old. Jellyroll gets along very well with other dogs and would enjoy a home where he has space to play and explore. True to his Pyrenees roots, Jellyroll takes his job as protector seriously. He enjoys barking at blowing leaves or passersby from the safety of an enclosed yard and would do best in a home without frequent visitors or unfamiliar people coming and going. He’s looking for a calm, loving environment where he can feel secure and devoted to his family. If you’re searching for a loyal, playful, and affectionate companion with a big heart (and an even bigger personality), Jellyroll might be your perfect match. Interested in adopting Jellyroll? Please reach out to Ldelgiudice724@gmail.com to learn more about this sweet boy and discuss next steps.
