If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Alex (GA) is a male Great Pyrenees mix rescued in Georgia, estimated to be 7 months old in October 2021 and likely to be 85-95 pounds when full-grown. His foster mom says he is a 'giant, crazy and insanely happy puppy!' All people are his friends (he especially loves men!), he loves other dogs, and even likes cats.  Alex will do best in a suburban home with a fenced yard and an energetic doggy companion on the larger side who wants to play much of the day. He loves to eat as much as he loves to play. If there are children in the home, they should be on the older side: Alex really doesn't know how big he is!  He's working on his chewing, mouthing, leash and meal-time manners - the usual puppy behaviors which will benefit from continued and consistent training in his adoptive home as he grows into adulthood. True to his breed, he can be stubborn, he is very smart and his big personality matches his size. He has a true zest for life, so he's a fun, interesting and busy guy!  Alex has been neutered and microchipped, and will be up to date on core vaccines (age appropriate) at time of adoption. If you would like to take Alex home, please apply online to adopt Alex (GA) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 10:34 am

Edgar is a 3-year-old Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix who weighs around 68 lbs and has a heart just as big. He’s house-trained, calm, and incredibly gentle—great with dogs and anyone lucky enough to meet him. Edgar has a sweet habit of walking up to people and resting his head near their leg, just quietly asking for pets (which he gets—because who could resist?). He’s cuddly, affectionate, and totally unfazed by city life. Everyone who meets him falls in love, and it’s easy to see why—he’s simply the sweetest boy. Approved adopters interested in Edgar can email adopt@hbrdogs.com for more info. If you're not approved yet, apply today at hbrdogs.com!

Glitter - 4 months, 20lbs, PYR Mix, SpayedExpected full grown size is 70lbs - Mom is a PYR Mix This puppy is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed: INTERMEDIATE: As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy levelMEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Working on this skill. Puppies under 12 weeks old are often on track with their wee pad skills, but they’re too young to walk outside in public NYC areas yet because they haven’t finished their puppy vaccine series. Puppies older than 12 weeks are usually learning to do their business outside. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency, and clean up.  Crate trained?Nope. None of our new puppies have been formally trained, but many of our foster parents/adopters choose to crate train. It can be a great way to keep puppies safe and teach them independence. Social with dogs?Yes. Some puppies are shy, others are bold, but all have the potential to be taught healthy socializing skills. It’s a huge part of raising a puppy and must be done carefully. How they interact with other dogs depends largely on how their humans help them learn to.  Social with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Yes… but most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   Social with cats?Yes. Almost all puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  Mouthy play: High! All puppies go through phases where they chew your stuff and grab your hands, arms, feet… puppies naturally explore the world, play, and test boundaries with their mouths. (It also happens when they’re teething.) Their teeth are super sharp though, so it can be a very painful phase for humans and other animals in the home. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key. Leash manners:None. :) Will need to learn this skill.   Separation anxiety:MEDIUM: Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self soothe. Often they cry the first 10+ minutes when they are left home alone or in a crate. Consistent training and alone time is crucial. Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines (for dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age), spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
PENNSYLVANIA: Everyone wants to add more love and joy to their lives – well, we found the missing LINC-oln for that! Young Lincoln is a happy, good-looking pup who enjoys all kinds of activities, but what makes him happiest is being by your side! His foster says: “Lincoln is one factastic boy! He is super sweet and loves every moment of every day!” Lincoln is only about 2 years old and weighs an elegant 80 lbs, with his best days ahead of him! Sadly, he was found tied to the fence of a NYC public shelter, but even then Lincoln maintained his “pawsitive vibe” energy and has since been patiently waiting for his furever home. Lincoln is a loyal friend who will love his future family not only unconditionally, but also passionately with his zest for life! Lincoln does have a higher energy level, but he is easily entertained and could run after a simple ball all day. An active home with daily exercise or a fenced in yard would be best for this handsome boy. Lincoln loves car rides, other dogs, hiking, and swimming! No matter what breed he is, Lincoln sure is easy on the eyes; we speculate he may have some Anatolian Shepherd or Great Pyrenees in him – but with such a love for the water, you would think he is part fish! Lincoln is available for adoption and comes neutered, house-trained, up to date on shots, and micro chipped. Lincoln gets along and has been living with other dog(s) and does OK around kids. Lincoln bonds very deeply with his people and because of his eagerness to please, he was a star student in obedience training. He has learned so much with his foster and he is now ready for his furever family. Lincoln wants to do anything to make his person/people happy; he truly has so much love to give. Can Lincoln give that love to you? To meet this one-of-a-kind guy, apply to adopt Lincoln at AmsterDog.org or contact 917-689-8414 (texts ok) for more information. Lincoln is waiting for you! Thanks for caring about a pet in need!

✅️Currently fostered in South Korea✅️ Meet Yeoreum💕 (It means summer in Korean) * Toward People: Likes people, but lacks sufficient familiarity. Is not used to be petted, but she would open up to people if they pet her often and gently!🩷 * Toward Dogs: Has a good relationship with others! Gets along well with other dogs.🥰 * Separation Anxiety & Potty Training: Does outdoor potty at the Adogs center. 💌Special Note💌 We are unable to determine the extent of separation anxiety and potty training as she is still living in a center environment with group living. ❗Rescue Story❗ Yeoreum is one of the dogs that Adogs rescued from a dog meat farm. Even though she had the terrible memories of witnessing other dogs being killed one by one in a dog farm, she overcame it and is doing good at the Adogs Center.

Meet Harrison Meet Harrison! This sweet 6-year-old mixed breed beauty has a luxurious long coat and a heart full of love. Harrison is a big boy and weighs about 70 pounds. Calm, affectionate, and well-mannered, He's the perfect companion for a cozy home. He enjoys gentle walks, belly rubs, and lounging by your side. Such a dedicated and loving furry friend. Harrison is mature, house-trained, and ready to bring joy to his forever family. If you're looking for a loyal, and active best friend, he might be the perfect match. Harrison has a lot of energy that needs to be channeled in the right direction. He has herding dog ancestry and needs stimulation to avoid developing bad habits. A family who can match his energy would be ideal. His foster mom is working with him on commands such as "wait" and "sit" and is also working on leash training. He is doing great!! Harrison loves the water and car rides. He would shine with a family who has property so he can get lots of exercise. The best way to begin a potential adoption is to directly EMAIL STORKWOODS@COMCAST.NET and request an application.
