Story
Raskel has been adopted and got the name Creed returned to us. Although he showed no interest in cats while in a foster home in TX with his new family, they say he was "aggressive" towards the cats. We are a little confused, but we decided that cats for Raskel-Creed will be a NO for his new home and no small animals of any kind. We feel it's better to be safe. Another thing that bothers the adopters is his strength. Raskel-Creed is a very strong young boy. He is crate-trained but doesn't like to stay there long. He is high-energy and loves spending time outside in the yard, hiking, joining as a running mat, or doing any outdoor activity. Background - A lady brought this boy, asking us to take him in. She saw him in the streets for two and a half weeks. A neighbor didn't like the idea of a dog in his neighborhood and started shooting to kill him. The poor dog got so scared that the lady was able to catch him. She tried to find his owner if there was one, but no one came for him. The family who found him was on vacation and returning home, so they couldn't keep him. In that home were two young kids. The boy named him Raskel. The little girl cried when they left him behind. Raskel shows no interest in cats and is ok with other dogs. Check the video we added of him playing with Holly. He's walking nicely on a leash. He is extremely sweet and loving. Good with everyone And most of all, he needs a good home!! We vaccinated him, and he was neutered and microchipped. The vet said he is about two years old and weights 59lbs Adoption application https://form.jotform.com/210286667669167 Foster Application. Story
Meet Potsie! Potsie, one of four siblings we pulled from a shelter that, like most shelters, is always full and needs to make place for more dogs by killing those who've been the most extended waiting. Fonzie was only six weeks or so when he and his siblings were scheduled to die. We got the notice and got them out to safety. Potsie, like his brothers, is full of life and energy. They like to wrestle between them and the little pig until they get tired. That's the time for a good sleep before food, another long round of playing and sleep. They get vaccinated as per their age, dewormed, and microchipped. They are too young to get the rabies Vax or be neutered. As with all puppies, they are funny, loving, playful, and love attention. They are being trained to use pee-pads. In mid-April, he weighs only 7 lbs and still somewhat doesn't feel secure enough with people. He will need love and patience and, in no time, will feel happy and safe. About eight weeks old. We are unsure about the breed mix, thinking maybe Heeler and Lab. We like them to find a home as soon as it is safe because the adjustment is so much easier on them. They are currently fostered in Texas. They can come to your home on our next transport on May 11th. Story
Buddha is likely the absolute sweetest boy you will ever meet. Despite his horrible past and the many scars to prove it, this boy wants nothing more than to give kisses and get any cuddles and loving you will give him. He is quiet as can be and will often retreat to his cozy crate. Even more, he loves to curl up as close to you as possible for movies, sleep or just gentle reminders that he is safe and no one will hurt him ever again. Buddha needs a home that will be gentle, patient and committed to helping him understand he is safe and sound. Buddha was pulled from a kill shelter in Texas on his very last day, after months of waiting, which didn't help his battered confidence. Yet, he emerged wanting to learn and wanting to love. His resilience is just so inspiring! He is perfect on a leash, loves toys and chews and even gets along with other dogs. Buddha would make the very best at-home office buddy for anyone that works from home, as he loves to just curl up at your feet without ever a peep. Buddha is happiest with his person close- it keeps him feeling safe. But, if need be, when you have to leave, he will go curl up in his bed and patiently wait for your return, when which, his tail will thump exuberantly at even the sound of your voice saying his name, alerting him of your return. He is truly just such a happy, loyal and ridiculously loving boy that will cherish you! More and more, Buddha has adorable bursts of playful glee when he's outside in the yard but will retreat to your feet realizing he let his guard down, nervous he will get in trouble. Buddha deserves a home that will nurture his amazing, sweet spirit and remind him often, how safe and adored he is. He's an absolute angel, and he will be such a blessing to any forever home. If you're interested in Buddha, instead of emailing through this site, please fill out our adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/221395065454154. For the right family, we will arrange transport. No home is too far away when it’s forever.

Story
I was given a long number for a name at the kill shelter. Then on the day I almost died, I was saved! AND I was given the name BIGGS, because the volunteer driver that picked me up for my freedom ride told the rescue lady that I had the biggest heart. I’ve lived up to my name ever since. I've been in a foster with a brother that is a big brindle boxer mix, and we have just the best time. I'd love a forever home with fur-siblings! Equally as important though, is a forever family that will let me remind them every day how much I love them and how grateful I am. I really hope to get a mom or dad that works from home, because I love to be around my people so much. I love toys, walks and treats of all kinds, but especially cuddling. Cuddling is, hands down, my favorite thing to do. I can be really silly and love to make my family laugh, too. Even the drivers on my freedom ride wanted to adopt me after just a few hours, but because of their job and hours, they said I deserved more. Could you give me a forever home and give me the Biggs love I promise to give you?!! Oh, and my coat may look a little different in spots. I’ve lost a little hair because of some skin issues, but I’m looking better each day; and a good diet helps me now that I’m out of the shelter. It doesn’t affect me at all, and I've been told it only adds to my cuteness! If you're interested in Biggs, instead of emailing through this site, please fill out our adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/221395065454154. For the right family, we will arrange transport. No home is too far away when it’s forever.

Story
Penny is nothing short of a miracle. She fought so hard to survive after being run over by a car that severed her spine in 3 places, and at only a few months old. She then dragged herself around the neighborhood in southern Texas, where the driver left her to die. For 2 days, every single human that saw her, ignored her. Not ONE a human helped! She finally collapsed at the fence of a home and you would have thought she died by the looks of the photo taken by a boy that lived there. After he posted that to Facebook, it was sent to the rescue and well, the journey to saving Penny began immediately. Penny has made it very clear that she wants to live, despite so many vets telling us to euthanize her. She is now 9 months old. The road rash that covered most of her body has healed already, and while she will never be able to move her back legs, this girl is definitely not a shrinking violet. She absolutely loves life, loves playing with other dogs and can’t get enough of kissing all the human angels that have become a part of her beautiful journey, so far. She is SUCH a sweetie pie! But, there really is nothing cuter than seeing her and her foster sister, with the exact same paralysis, play and bounce about on the grass. Your heart will quite literally beat out of your chest with the glee you feel watching them. Happy as can be and without a care in the world. Penny is great in her wheelchair and also just dandy pulling herself around. Her legs drag behind her and she’s got an adorable collection of onesies and drag bags that help protect her little legs, as she roams around, to her heart's desire. The great thing is, though, Penny doesn’t feel it! She only feels happiness and love and it’s so obvious and truly infectious, every moment spent with her. Penny is likely to need a larger surgery to help prevent rectal prolapses which she has been suffering from. She’s just great in her diaper, so long as she has a loving mama that will keep her clean and keep her close until she can get her surgery. Penny is SUCH a special angel. We believe she fought so hard to stay here and bless lives and that’s why we wanted to fight even harder to keep her here. We know there is a human mother out there for her that will commit to her and cherish this girl and watch her, in amazement, as she thrives and continues to bless so many lives with her zest for life and her sweet, sweet soul. If you're interested in Penny, instead of emailing through this site, please fill out our adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/221395065454154. Story
Meet Ferrah!!! One day (for reasons we can't see) this sweet girl was dumped on the streets in a small town in Georgia. That was the day her old life of having a home ended and her new life of living on the scary, cold streets began. Ferrah was found on a street corner by a sweet soul who her picked her up. She was taken to the local animal shelter to see if her owners could be located (because seriously....who would dump this beauty????) but sadly she was not microchipped nor wearing tags. Deep South Canine Rescue was contacted and of course, couldn't help but try to find this girl a home. Many different attempts were made to find her owners but no one came forward to claim her. She has been with the rescue for over a year waiting for the perfect person to give her a forever home. She is energetic and would do great in a household with older children due to her tendency to greet with a jump or two (she just LOVES spreading love!!). Farrah needs an active family who will have time to play, take her for a hike or throw the ball. Our founder, Pam, has been working with Farrah to ensure she will be a good fit for the right family. At first, Ferrah was "street trained" but now.....she is "Deep South Trained"!!!! She is crate trained and housebroken as well as leash trained. If you think Farrah would be a great match for your home, please fill out an application at: https://deepsouthcaninerescue.com/adoption-application. Ferrah can't wait to hear from you!!!!!

Story
Introducing 5 year old Raven, the three-legged wonder dog, who's 55 pounds of pure loving and ready to steal your heart. Hailing all the way from the bluegrass state of Kentucky, Raven made her grand debut at our rescue group in the past. Raven's journey took a turn when she found herself in the loving embrace of a beautiful, amazing, and oh-so-loving senior owner. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, sharing love, laughter, and plenty of belly rubs along the way. But alas, fate had other plans, and Raven's beloved owner recently passed away. Now, as Raven's world turns upside down once again, she finds herself in need of a new forever home. But fear not, because this playful pup is more than ready to bring some silly shenanigans into your life. With her loving nature, beautiful soul, and infectious energy, Raven is the life of the party wherever she goes. This tripod dynamo may have only three legs (from a leg injury that was never correctly tended to), but Raven has taken it in stride like a true champion. Great on the leash, fantastic with people and dogs alike, and with her sweet disposition, she is sure to be wonderful with feline friends as well. Housebroken and trained to perfection, Raven is the definition of everything you could ever want in a companion—and then some. Sure, she may have had a little mishap back in Kentucky that resulted in her becoming a member of the tripod club, but let me tell you, she's taken it in stride like a true champion. So if you're ready to add a little fun and a whole lot of love to your life, then Raven is the perfect pup for you. Reach out to our rescue group today to begin the adoption process and let the fun-filled adventures begin! With Raven by your side, every day will be a paw-some adventure! If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG!
