Story
Rocky & his running buddy, were left on the streets to fend for themselves. They had been wandering around that neighborhood for a while and befriended a kind business owner who made sure they did not go hungry. Thanks to that Good Samaritan who gained their trust, they were taken in & have been in foster care since. He has gained 20 pounds since then and is doing great! He is approx 3 years old & is fully vetted. As you can see in the video, he is a loving playful pup. Rocky is a completely gorgeous guy, both inside and out! He is full of love and is always in a carefree good mood. His furever family is going to be lucky beyond belief. If you are interested in learning more about this really sweet and deserving boy, please feel free to text or call Alecia Clark, @ 901-486-2850. We are a rescue organization located with our dogs in Tennessee and have weekly transport available for our pups to relocate up north with their new forever families. His adoption fee of $275 includes his vaccinations, neuter, microchip and his transport to his new furever home. Since a meet and greet is not possible prior to adoption, our adopters make their decision to adopt based on pictures, videos and talking to the foster parent. We will do everything possible to make sure he is the perfect match for you and your family & will be with you every step of the way.

Story
Meet Honey Bee, a gorgeous five-year-old, 55 lb. lab/pit mix who came to Connecticut from South Carolina after being found as a stray. She was just hours away from being euthanized before we saved her and brought her on her freedom ride up north. She has been with us for nearly a year now and we just cannot understand why because this pup is a true gem! Honey Bee may be five years old but you could never tell with all the spunk that he has! She is so loving to every person, child, or dog that she meets. Honey Bee is a real sweetheart who just wants to make people happy and brighten their days. She has an insatiable need for pets and affection. Wherever you are, she also will be. Honey Bee can never get enough pets, belly rubs, and snuggles. In addition to being super affectionate, she is also an active girl who needs a lot of exercise and enrichment! Her energy knows no bounds. Speaking of, make sure to keep an eye on her as she is a flight risk and has the ability to jump 6ft. tall fences if left alone. Honey Bee is crate/housetrained and is currently in obedience training. Honey Bee just needs someone to give her a chance. Please consider visiting this precious pup and making her a part of your hive. Her adoption is $350 and Honey Bee is vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and heartworm-treated. Story
Hi, my name is Moe! If you are looking for a special dog, you are barking up the right tree! What makes me special is that life started out a little shaky for me and has left me more nervous and scared than the average dog. With time, understanding, patience, and building trust I will open up and be the best companion you could want! As the saying goes, I stick to the 3’s. I need 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks of a consistent routine and time to learn it & 3 months to start feeling at home. At first, I am more comfortable with other dogs and people really scare me, so I would do best with an outgoing friendly dog in the house to show me how to feel comfortable and confident. As time goes on, I get more used to humans but would do best in a single-person home or just a couple (too many people or a lot of children will be too much for me). I like my kennel and my safe dark space. I will come around and hang out more when I trust it is safe. I am kennel trained and working on being better with the leash. If you are looking for an amazing but special dog who needs a little bit of a calmer lifestyle, I am your man!!!! Email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.com for more info! Story
Hi my name is Curly and I have a great story to tell. I am a good boy that’s shy and unsure at first. People, car rides, and loud noises scare me. So I need a home that is quiet and 1-2 people at most would be best. I do great with other dogs, they bring me out of my shell. I know I’m not for everyone but I am the right one for the special person, who can work with me and go at my slow pace, who won’t get frustrated that the world is sometimes scary to me and I need time and help figuring it out. I really want to be loved and give you love, it will just take time, trust, and understanding. I am kennel trained, house trained, and like the backyard. Leash walks are not my favorite but I am working on that. Since I am scared, I like to be able to go in and out of my kennel when I am scared or just feel like it. If you want a special dog that’s not like everyone else, but will always hold a special place in your heart…. I am your boy! I have been around dogs and cats with no issues. I've also been around kids, but I prefer to keep to myself when little ones are around. I'm also crate and housetrained, neutered, heartworm negative, and have age-appropriate vaccinations!  If you're interested in adopting, please email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.comFebruary 14, 2024, 7:33 am

Story
I have an adoption pending but hope you will consider one of our other dogs in need. You will fall in love the moment you meet Beau! With a heart full of love and a tail that wags non-stop with joy, this charming fella is eager to bring happiness to your world. We at SGRR are always baffled when a nice dog like this goes unclaimed at a shelter. Beau, who was picked up as a stray in Elmore County, AL, is a stunning 5-year-old Yellow Lab of the English* variety. As sad as it is that his family was disloyal to Beau, the good news is that he is now a Sunshine dog, and Sunshine dogs only go to the VERY best homes! Handsome Beau weighs about 80 lbs and has a nice thick coat with a fluffy tail. Beau is super sweet and very affectionate. He showers his humans with kisses, kisses, and more kisses!! He is good with other dogs and adores children as well. One of Beau's favorite things to do is retrieve and will fetch balls as long as you are able to throw the ball to him. This is a wonderful dog who simply needs someone to love him. He is at a wonderful age where he has energy for a nice jaunt or some games of fetch and then he is happy to hang out at home. Beau is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. He is being treated for heartworms in the south and is almost ready to come north to be directly adopted. Please contact Cheryl if you are already approved to adopt through SGRR and would like to adopt this precious boy. If not yet approved, please fill out an application to be considered. *When compared to an American-type lab, the English type: Looks more substantial with a heavier look about them. Bigger build with barrel chests, they’re noticeably wider and more ‘solid’ looking. Has a wider head with a more pronounced and better-defined stop, a fuller face, a shorter muzzle, and a thicker, more powerful-looking neck. Has a very noticeably thicker coat. Has a wider, thicker, and generally straighter tail than their American cousins. Has shorter legs and hence don’t stand quite so tall, and has a shorter body. Bred for conformation they’re usually far closer to how the breed standard is written than the American type. Are less exuberant, less full of energy, and aren’t as highly strung when compared to an American type Lab. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to take on whatever comes with the dog. It is up to YOU to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. SGRR ADOPTION FEES - Effective May 1, 2020 (subject to change) $750 Puppy - up to 6 months $650 Young 6 months - 6 years $550 Senior 7 - 9 years $450 Senior 10 years and older $550 Young Special Needs $400 Senior 7+ Special Needs $1000 Young Bonded Pair $900 Senior 7+ Bonded Pair A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Please be a ray of light for this Sunshine dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a Sunshine dog. Please click on the Donation link below to support SGRR! Beau.

Story
Courtesy Posting Zoe is looking for a new home after the passing of her mom. She is a 2 year old Black Lab (mix?), is spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. Zoe was treated for heartworm and is now cleared for regular activity. She weighs 69 pounds and has a beautiful shiny black coat and intelligent brown eyes. She's good with people, but would do best as an only pet, unless she is adopted with her sister, Fifi. Zoe is house-trained and she's good on the leash. She also is a little timid but once you get to know her, she's fine. Just take a look at this sweetie in her video! Zoe is a Courtesy Posting and is not an SGRR dog. She is located in Baldwin Co, AL but travel to the northeast can be arranged. For more details about this stunning black beauty, please contact Miranda at: miranda_cawthon@yahoo.com or via text/phone at: 251-359-0054. Thank you!
