Story
Hi, I'm Nadja! I was recently saved from starving in a filthy, locked room- where I'd been for the first few months of my life. Despite this, I am a smart, affectionate and eager-to-please puppy! I love attention and want to be friends with every human/animal I meet. My foster mom lives alone/works long hours, and wants to find me a big family, so I'm never lonely again. I would love a home with room to run, and hopefully some siblings to play with. I love playing tug/fetch, sleeping on your feet, and staring out the window. I'm very well behaved for a pup! I'm still learning how to be a dog, and am confused but excited by all my new experiences. I'm a little afraid of men, but warm up quickly once I know I'm safe. I've had a rough start, but made it out with my sweet spirit still intact. I hope you'll consider adding me to your family!

Story
Meet Taylor, a gentle and somewhat shy Lab mix weighing in at around 35-40 lbs. Taylor's journey started in a challenging place; he was among about 90 dogs in a hoarding situation, where he had to fight for his food and missed out on socialization. However, despite his rough beginnings, he hasn't shown any signs of aggression towards people or our other furry friends. It's clear that he's eager to be the absolute best boy! It took Taylor a few weeks to warm up to us, and he's still on his path to becoming a confident pup who can go for walks on a leash and socialize with others. Taylor has mastered the art of potty training, with initial marking issues that have now become a thing of the past. His crate is like a safe haven to him, providing comfort when he's feeling anxious or unsure. This sweet boy is longing for a serene forever home, ideally with a confident dog sibling to be his guide and companion. Taylor's new family should be exceptionally patient, allowing him to blossom at his own pace. It may take some time - even months - for him to feel completely at ease in his new surroundings, but he absolutely deserves that chance. Trust us; investing time in Taylor is worth it because beneath that shy exterior, there's a little goofball just waiting to shine! Let's work together to find Taylor the loving forever home he truly deserves. Your patience and care can make all the difference in his life. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Greetings, I'm Yin, and I'm here to bring a little more balance into your life, even if I'm no Feng Shui expert! Consider me the first half of your "Feng" equation - let's figure out the rest together because, at my age, there's no need for extra stress! Once upon a time, I arrived as part of a trio of older girls, each of us weathered by life and not quite the social butterflies. Physically, we were in ruff shape, but thanks to the rescue, we narrowly escaped a less fortunate fate in a rural shelter where second chances are rare. I'm Yin, a mature black lab mix, a solid 73 pounds of sweet girl. While I may look a bit ruff around the edges, a glimpse at my photos on the plea will show you how far I've come and how much better I look now! Among my trio, I'm the most social. I get along with other dogs, but I prefer to hang with my peers - no need for those young whippersnappers to pester me, right? I'm ready to embark on my well-deserved retirement, and I've even got my tropical shirts ready for sipping fruity drinks. If you're looking for a companion to share your laid-back days with, don't hesitate to apply. Let's make this golden phase of life truly special together! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Is it obvious that my appetite is insatiable? Well, I'm on the lookout for a family who can satisfy not only my hunger but also my heart. Meet me, an incredibly good-natured boy, a delightful blend of Lab and Shepherd breeds. I embarked on an epic journey all the way from across the vast landscapes of Texas to find a compassionate rescue that appreciates my charming squishiness. Now, here's the twist-I'm patiently awaiting that extraordinary family, the ones who will adore me and embrace every ounce of my gooeyness. Whether you're a brownie enthusiast, a belly-rub aficionado, or a household bursting with little and big humans, I'll fit right in. My affection knows no bounds; I have an undying love for dogs and people alike. Food, oh glorious food, has a special place in my heart, and it's safe to say that belly rubs are my ultimate weakness. So, if you're a family that knows how to whip up delectable treats and offer endless belly-scratching sessions, congratulations-you're officially my new family! Just remember, the first step to forever companionship is to apply for adoption. I eagerly anticipate the day when my new family will sweep me off my paws and into their loving embrace. The clock is ticking, and I am here, patiently waiting for you! Ok Ok ok!! I know, my namesake is a superhero wannabe... Barry Hubris wants to be THE TICK!!! And, ok I HAD ticks when I was found- so so skinny and so so sad and so so lost and alone. However, I don't REALLY want to BE a TICK!! I want to be a beloved companion. I want to be a loving family dog. I want to be loved. I have some limited vision issues, so no kids at this point- I get nervous and growl when I am being approached too quickly or don't know who you are. BUT, I am way better than I was. Now that I know love and comfort and regular food and safety, I am a regular gentleman! I am a yellow lab/shepherdy mix with a gentle demeanor and have a creamy colored coat. I am about 60# of good boy, and am looking for someone who has a relatively calm and quiet house and room on the couch for me. I am ready for you, I hope you are ready for me!!! Story
Adopt me and Summer will last all year cos' that's my name. I am the last of my litter and I desperately want to find my own home after watching my siblings find theirs. I’m a 12 week old lab mix around 16lbs. I am ready to take on the world – will you be my sidekick? I'm super affectionate and playful, a typical happy puppy in every way. I LOVE attention - give me some loving and I’m yours forever!! I love everybody I meet – all people and dogs big and small, and just want to make them happy and be their friend. I am ready to learn manners and how to be that perfect dog. At just 12 weeks I can become the dog you want. Want to do agility? Or have a hiking partner? Or a snuggle bug? I can be all those and more! Ready and waiting for a family of my very own..... All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kenneled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Adoption fee includes transportation costs, previous/current medical treatment and a health certificate for cross-state travel.

Hi, my name is Sunny. If you are looking for a sweet, calm and laid-back dog, I’m the one for you. I’m a beautiful 12 yr old golden lab mix, around 40 lbs. I have so much love to give … will you be my person? Just a slow walk, some snacks (ok lots of snacks) and a few belly rubs and bum scratches, and I’m as happy as can be. I love other dogs and people but I would prefer a home without really small children – I’d like to enjoy my golden years laying around and taking it easy. Can you find room in your home (and your heart) for a beautiful old boy? All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kenneled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Meet Vader!! This beautiful boy is looking for his person!! Vader loves other dogs, lives with a cat and 2 parrots, loves people and children. Vader is a bundle of energy who is looking for an active household to keep up with his needs. He runs like an athlete and hops like a giant bunny when excited. His foster mom says that he is practicing "take off" as it seems that he is trying to fly!! When it is time, he is able to lay down and chill for the evening or during quiet time. Some of his favorite things are his kennel where he can have his quiet time, chasing birds in the yard and learning new commands. Vader knows sit, down and shake as of now, but is ready to learn as many as you can teach him. He likes to chew on things, but at just over a year old, he quickly understood when his foster mom negotiated an old towel and 1 old shoe that would be only for him. He took the deal and has been a dog of his word about chewing other things that aren't supposed to be. Vader would love to learn more about you and see if you are the forever he has been waiting for!! Please be aware that all of our pets are in foster care in South Texas. They are transported to their new homes once adopted. We are 100% volunteer based, so it could take a day or 2 before we are able to process an application. If you are interested in adopting an animal, please fill out our adoption application using the blue Apply To Adopt button above and someone will review it shortly!

Story
Meet Hank, our sweet old lab dog with a heart of pure gold. We can’t understand how he ended up in the shelter, but we got him out as quick as we could, and his foster mom has been spoiling him ever since. He’s earned the nickname Big Boy and follows his foster mom everywhere, always seeking love and hugs. One cannot help but adore the way he gazes with his big, soulful brown eyes. Hank's best friend is most likely his foster mom, but he also enjoys the company of the smaller resident dog in the household. He's house-trained and crate trained, making him an easy addition to any home. Though he hasn't interacted with children, his gentle demeanor suggests he would likely be great with them. We would recommend kids older than 8 just to be sure. Hank seems to get along well with all dogs and is currently living with a cat. He remains curious about the cat and sniffs her and doesn’t harm or chase her either. He’s not a fan of water, but he loves car rides with the windows down and cherishes his chew bones and stuffed animals as favorite toys. While not particularly interested in fetch, Hank enjoys running circles in the yard before settling in for a long, well-deserved nap. Hank is quite smart and knows commands like sit, down, shake, and no. He is very excited about walks and would benefit from a harness to have more control. His ideal home would have a large backyard, allowing him space to run around, and an indoor area for him to relax and nap. While another dog as a companion is welcome, Hank enjoys receiving attention from his humans and is easy going either way. Among the many lovable things he does, Hank's cute behaviors include putting his nose on his foster parent's lap for pets, chasing his tail, and scattering his toys all around the house. He expresses gratitude to his foster parent with his loving eyes, as if saying, "Thank you for giving me a place to stay." Hank was reserved initially, but once settled into his new home, he quickly adapted to his schedule. While he sleeps in a crate, he doesn't necessarily need it when left alone in the house. While he doesn't need a lot of exercise, a larger yard with a fence would be ideal for him to explore and run freely. As much as he enjoys the company of other dogs, he simply adores sitting at his human's feet, soaking in all the attention and love he can get. We envision Hank sitting at the feet of his new family, while they sip drinks & rock in their chairs watching the sun set on the porch. If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate companion, Hank is the perfect match! Story
Introducing Cody, affectionately known as "Little Guy," an adorable and playful puppy currently in foster care and eagerly awaiting his forever home. Cody has the cutest look, thanks to his delightful spots and beautiful coloring. His unique white streak down the center of his head makes him make him stand out. People always assume he got into the kitchen pantry and found the flour! While Cody enjoys the company of all his furry friends, it's clear that his best buddy is Tommy, the largest dog in the household. Cody doesn't seem to care if Tommy is huge & loves to engage in playful interactions with Tommy and is often seen trying to initiate games with him. Cody's favorite game is Tug of War with his pal Tommy. Although he's still working on his house training, Cody is making progress and is well on his way to becoming fully trained. Cody didn't seem to mind the crate at first, but his foster mom soon realized he didn't need it and leaves him out to play and interact with the other pups while she is away. Cody is a loving puppy, and while he hasn't been around children yet, he's a sweet boy & we believe he would do well in a home with kids.Cody seems to thrive in the company of dogs of all sizes. He hasn't been exposed to cats, since he is young, we think he could at least try to meet them and see how he does. Cody is an energetic little fellow, as he is still just a puppy. He enjoys playing with toys, especially those he can get someone to play Tug with him. When he's not playing, you'll often find him napping, right alongside the other dogs in the house. This smart pup is currently learning basic commands, with "sit" being his primary focus. With continued patience and consistent training, Cody is sure to pick up more tricks & continue to learn how to be the best addition to his new family. If you're looking to add a playful and loving puppy to your family, Cody could be the perfect addition. Don't miss the chance to give this adorable "Little Guy" a forever home filled with happiness and warmth. All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Meet Champ-ersaurus, the big, gentle dinosaur dog who will steal your heart with just one wag of his tail. Despite his intimidating size, Champ is a lover, not a fighter, and is always eager to please his human companions. He's a quick learner, too - he knows how to sit and shake on command! Even though he was picked up as a stray, we can tell he’s had human interaction, he's potty-trained & used to being in a house and a yard. He doesn’t like the crate, yet isn’t destructive when left alone at his fosters home. He loves to get on the bed and is the happiest when he’s there. He loves kisses and snuggles and will normally take over the whole bed when he’s allowed up. While Champ is dog-friendly, he will give a few passive warnings if he is confronted with aggression from another dog. He does well with evenly matched dogs & likes having a play pal. Camp has had the most fun romping in the yard with some of the younger pups and plays gently with them. Champ doesn’t care much for cats & is not the best fit for a household with feline friends. Champ is definitely a people-dog - he prefers human companionship. If you're his owner, you're the apple of his eye! He's leash-trained and very calm on walks, even when encountering other dogs. And he loves going for car rides - he won't jump out unless invited to do so! At the shelter he was a volunteer favorite and gave the best hugs when they would come to visit him. Camp doesn't care if you are a man or a woman, he loves them all. He likes treats and takes them with ease. While Champ is a calm and well-behaved dog, his excitement can override his listening skills. We think he would do much better in a home with children over the age of ten, as he may accidentally knock them over or get a little too passionate with his zoomies. A yard and room to run would be fantastic for Champ. Champ loves toys, but he's not sure what a ball is for - he's more of a slow-moving tank than an athlete! He'll jog or run alongside you if you ask him to, but he's not very athletic and prefers to take things at his own pace. Maybe morning coffee in the yard where he can zoom or rest as he so desires! Champ-ersaurus is a wonderful dog who just wants to be loved and approved of by his humans. If you're looking for a big, loving dog to join your family, Champ is that guy. He will be an easy add to a home with another pup, or a fun family looking for a new addition. To see more pictures and videos of Champ copy and paste this link, you can apply directly for Champ by clicking the “Apply for Adoption” button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-172 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)
