Story
Meet Hunter, this sweet, spirited, medium sized terrier/blue heeler pup is patiently waiting for his forever home so he can spoil his humans with all the love he has to share! Trust us; he's worth every mile!Hunter is more than just a sweet face; he's also a quick learner. His foster family has been putting in the work, and he's been acing his obedience training. In his foster home, he's been a real champ, getting along wonderfully with non-dominant dogs and playful puppies. When it comes to humans and other animals, Hunter prefers a gradual approach so slow introductions are his preference to ensure he forms lasting bonds. He loves children! During an adoption event he was all tail wags when the kids came up for pets.Hunter has mastered the art of walking on a leash and being house-trained. Walkies are his absolute favorite thing! So if you are an avid walker/hiker this is your dog!! He's also a pro at basic commands like sit, wait, shake, down, and he's getting the hang of stay too.But what Hunter truly excels at is spreading love. He's a cuddle enthusiast who will happily crawl into your lap, showering you with affectionate kisses. So, here's the deal: Hunter is ready and willing to travel for his forever home If you believe you can provide this sweetheart with the loving and active life he deserves, don't hesitate. Apply today, and let's make Hunter's journey to your heart and home a reality! Story
Animal Profile:  Artie is an estimated 4-year-old, 65 lb female Lab/Shepherd mix who loves snuggles and belly rubs. She is friendly with all people, including kids. Her previous owner described her as gentle, loving, playful, and attentive with kids of all ages. Artemis is a smart girl who learns quickly and knows basic commands. She is both house trained and crate trained.  Artemis would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can run and play. Foster Update 5/3/24: Artie has been doing very well with all types of training. She can be around the other dogs without a leash and even enjoys playing with the other pups. Her "bubble" has shrunk to the point that an unfamiliar dog basically has to run into her to generate a reaction, and she's still her same cuddly self in the house.  Foster Update: Artie is a very good and chill dog with an excellent foundation of training. She walks well on leash with a training collar and heels on command. She's made tremendous progress when encountering unfamiliar dogs on walks. She doesn’t react from a distance at all and can now pass by calmly as long as they stay outside her “bubble” of about 2 feet. She's conditioned to a muzzle and accepts it easily; it seems to make her more comfortable encountering new dogs. After slow introductions, she's become best buds with a large male Lab and a medium female Aussie in her foster home. Adopter Profile: Large breed experience required Secure fenced yard required Balanced dogs OK No cats Kids OK Adoption Info: Artie's adoption fee is $350, which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Animal History: Artie came to the Quincy Animal Shelter as a stray. She was adopted by a family with kids with special needs in Fall 2022 and surrendered to DGS in July 2023 because they were unable to give her the attention she deserves. She is currently being fostered in Bellingham and is available for adoption.July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Cody is an estimated 9-month-old, 50 lb neutered male lab mix (possibly with Catahoula) from Roswell New Mexico. He and his two litter mates were taken into the shelter as young pups and have been growing up in kennel-based foster care, including socialization with other dogs of all sizes and people. Unfortunately, despite their friendly temperaments, the three large-breed black dogs were not getting any adoption interest, so Cody has joined Dog Gone Seattle to find his forever home. More info to come as we get to know him in foster care. Foster Update: Cody has really blossomed in foster care! He is great with other dogs -- no issues at all -- and will need another balanced dog or two in his forever home to help continue to build his confidence. He plays all day with our resident dog and loves to follow her around! He is great with his people in the home but still nervous of new people and needs time to warm up. Cody really enjoys playing with toys, swimming, hiking, and going on walks; he does best in familiar environments and with routine. He rides well in the car, is good in the crate both day and night now, and sleeps comfortably in the crate through the night. Cody would benefit an owner who has experience with initially shy dogs and can provide him confident leadership; as mentioned he will also need a resident dog(s) in the home. He has not been tested with cats but can be upon request from a qualified adopter.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was taken into rescue as a puppy and transferred to Dog Gone Seattle rescue arriving to foster care on Feb 23, 2204 and will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care. July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Cenote is a 5-year-old (best guess), 35 lb neutered male Mexican mixed breed who was "rescued" as a stray from Mexico by a well-intentioned but naive individual who then transported him to the United States where he has been, understandably, overwhelmed by city life. That individual posted him on Craigslist and Cenote found himself in yet another home in the city, struggling with sights and sounds of city life. Cenote was a street dog and likely lived the pack dog life. You can take the dog out of the streets but you can't take the streets out of this dog and he is and probably always will be extremely alert seeing other dogs. Humans are providers of food and he thrived on the streets thanks to humans, so he understands that humans mean good things.  After many months in Seattle it is clear that in order to thrive, Cenote is going to need a home outside the city. His second good Samaritan caretaker has been diligently providing training to get Cenote as close to a family pet as we think he will be. He reached out to Dog Gone Seattle to help with training and appropriate placement. Cenote is now crate trained and house trained, though he loves to mark outside on anything he can. He has had basic obedience training, including leash training. He is friendly to all people but suspicious of all new dogs. He can live with other dogs in "his pack" without issues and would likely enjoy living in a multi-dog home, but meeting new dogs is a process. He is no longer explosively reactive to other dogs on walks after extensive training with Mindful Dog Adventure Academy. Cenote's ideal home would be outside of the city with a fenced yard. He would do fine with other balanced dogs but likely not a good fit for cats. He's friendly with people but not a snuggly couch dog. He is running out of time to find options and we're hoping his unicorn home is out there. Adoption Info: Cenote's adoption fee is $250 which includes his neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, and recent examination by a veterinarian. It also includes a take-home training session with Mindful Dog Adventure Academy to set him up for success.  Apply Online: &#226&#128&#139www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-applicationJuly 26, 2024, 1:04 pm
