Story
Koa is one sweet guy! This handsome 5-year-old lab mix is ready for a fresh start. He's still learning that the world isn't scary and is looking for experienced adopters to help him build his confidence and blossom into the dog he dreams of being! Koa can be more nervous around men and is hoping his new family will be patient with him as he settles into his new home. Once Koa feels comfortable, he's full of playful energy and will keep you smiling. Koa has met a couple dogs and done well, though any introductions to resident pets should be done slowly. He is looking for a home without cats. Koa will likely do best with dog-experienced teens (16+) and adults and would love to live in a quiet neighborhood where he can go for sidewalk strolls. He is not a fit for an apartment or condo environment. If you're ready to welcome home this precious pooch, fill out an adoption application today! Koa's adoption fee is waived in thanks to a generous donor and our Pay it Forward program. *Koa is in a foster home and not located in the shelter.

Story
This is a bit of a long shot. My parents have a pair of dogs they are no longer able to care for. They got one of the dogs, Waffles, in 2020 as a puppy. Waffles has since had a puppy, Pancake, about 6 months ago. They believe waffles is pregnant again. It breaks our heart to think of taking them to the pound. Waffles add Pancake love each other and play together wonderfully. If there is anyone out there looks for a family of dogs, we would love to talk to you. They are incredibly sweet, loving dogs. Get along great with everyone. They both jump but that is the only behaviour issue. We would love to keep them together if at all possible.

Story
Animal Profile: Wiley is a 1-year-old male Lab/Husky  X (guessing) who joined us along with his siblings from Texas. The puppies were taken from an overcrowded property by Animal Control and went into foster care with our rescue partner. Wiley is a happy sweet pup, doing well in his foster home, friendly with dogs, and older kids. Foster Update:   Wiley is a smart, fluffy goofball who is both crate trained and house trained. He knows all his basic commands, has an energetic and playful style, and walks nicely on leash. He spent several weeks in the care of a professional trainer, is e-collar trained, and continues to build confidence every day. Wiley has been enjoying the great outdoors of the PNW and has even started going to work with his foster, where he’s meeting lots of new people. He takes some time to warm up but forms strong bonds once he trusts you. Wiley would do best as the only dog in an active home with someone who has breed experience and a securely fenced yard. He is not a good fit for toddlers, though older children with dog experience should be fine. He’s also a bit of a talker, so an apartment setting wouldn’t be ideal. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog is being transferred from  Animal Advocacy & Rescue our partner in Del Rio Texas and arriving via Byrdie Express to the Seattle area. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.January 25, 2026, 11:35 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Licorice wound up in the Stanislaus shelter as a stray and had been there for 20 days. When no one came to adopt him, he wound up on ‘the list’ and was at risk for euthanasia due to space. We had to bust him outta there! He is a friendly, sweet puppy that deserves a chance to find a loving home. Foster Update:  Meet Licorice! This handsome 9-month-old mixed breed is as sweet as his name! Licorice currently weighs around 50 lbs and is growing into a strong, happy boy. He's a smart, playful pup who learns quickly and already knows most of his basic training. He's crate trained, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. He's ready to join his forever family! Licorice gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves having a playmate to chase and wrestle with. His favorite activities include playing with sticks and balls, going for car rides, and spending time with his people — whether that means joining you on an adventure or snuggling up afterward. He'd be happiest in a home with a yard where he can stretch his legs, play fetch, and explore. Licorice is an excitable young and strong dog who will need physical and mental stimulation daily for fulfillment. Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Stanislaus Animal Services in Modesto, CA. He arrives in Seattle on 09/11/2025 via START rescue transport and will be available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.  January 20, 2026, 8:29 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Sienna is an approximately 1 yr  old female Lab/Husky X  (guessing)  who joined us, along with her siblings, from Texas on 3/14/25. The puppies were taken from an overcrowded property by Animal Control and went into care with our rescue partner. Sienna is a happy, sweet pup, doing well in her foster home, she is friendly with dogs, and older  kids. Foster Update:  Sienna is a one year-old Lab/Husky mix with a gentle spirit and an independent streak. She can be shy at first and takes time to warm up to new people. Sienna is food-motivated (smart girl alert) and already has basic manners like sit, down, crate and potty training down pat. She walks beautifully on leash when she’s comfortable, sleeps soundly through the night in her crate with no accidents, and is always up for a game of fetch or a joyful toy romp in the yard. Sienna absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a furry canine friend. Once she feels safe, she is sweet, playful, and full of gentle affection. She is timid around men and will need time, consistency, and patience to build trust. She has been friendly with the children in her foster home, but due to her shy nature we are not considering homes with small children. Older teens may be considered. Sienna should not live with cats, as she has a strong prey drive and would be inclined to chase them. We are looking for a home with a securely fenced yard and a resident dog. Breed experience is preferred. Apartments are not a good fit for Sienna at this time. Sienna is just waiting for the right family who will move at her pace and help her shine. Could that be you?    Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate.
