Story
Adopt me and Summer will last all year cos' that's my name. I am the last of my litter and I desperately want to find my own home after watching my siblings find theirs. I’m a 12 week old lab mix around 16lbs. I am ready to take on the world – will you be my sidekick? I'm super affectionate and playful, a typical happy puppy in every way. I LOVE attention - give me some loving and I’m yours forever!! I love everybody I meet – all people and dogs big and small, and just want to make them happy and be their friend. I am ready to learn manners and how to be that perfect dog. At just 12 weeks I can become the dog you want. Want to do agility? Or have a hiking partner? Or a snuggle bug? I can be all those and more! Ready and waiting for a family of my very own..... All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kenneled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Adoption fee includes transportation costs, previous/current medical treatment and a health certificate for cross-state travel.

Hi, my name is Sunny. If you are looking for a sweet, calm and laid-back dog, I’m the one for you. I’m a beautiful 12 yr old golden lab mix, around 40 lbs. I have so much love to give … will you be my person? Just a slow walk, some snacks (ok lots of snacks) and a few belly rubs and bum scratches, and I’m as happy as can be. I love other dogs and people but I would prefer a home without really small children – I’d like to enjoy my golden years laying around and taking it easy. Can you find room in your home (and your heart) for a beautiful old boy? Story
Meet Vader!! This beautiful boy is looking for his person!! Vader loves other dogs, lives with a cat and 2 parrots, loves people and children. Vader is a bundle of energy who is looking for an active household to keep up with his needs. He runs like an athlete and hops like a giant bunny when excited. His foster mom says that he is practicing "take off" as it seems that he is trying to fly!! When it is time, he is able to lay down and chill for the evening or during quiet time. Some of his favorite things are his kennel where he can have his quiet time, chasing birds in the yard and learning new commands. Vader knows sit, down and shake as of now, but is ready to learn as many as you can teach him. He likes to chew on things, but at just over a year old, he quickly understood when his foster mom negotiated an old towel and 1 old shoe that would be only for him. He took the deal and has been a dog of his word about chewing other things that aren't supposed to be. Vader would love to learn more about you and see if you are the forever he has been waiting for!! Please be aware that all of our pets are in foster care in South Texas. They are transported to their new homes once adopted. We are 100% volunteer based, so it could take a day or 2 before we are able to process an application. If you are interested in adopting an animal, please fill out our adoption application using the blue Apply To Adopt button above and someone will review it shortly!

Stella is a ~6 year old Lab/Pit mix. She is loving, friendly and wants nothing more than to have a home where she can get lots of cuddles, treats and attention. Once she knows you she is sweet as a button and loves her people deeply. Stella's favorite things are treats, a comfy bed and lots of pets. You can find her cuddled up on her bed and sunbathing on a nice day. She has a calm demeanor and walks well on a leash. Stella is She's has a very high prey drive and can be aggressive towards other animals. She needs a family that has dog reactivity experience so they know how to keep her safe and separate. Stella would do best in an adult-only home or with kids over the age of 12. Not because she is aggressive towards people, she just prefers a quiet and calm home where she can be loved and spend her days relaxing :) She is UTD on her vaccinations, spayed and micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is $250.

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Meet Lady Rover! She is a friendly, 6-year-old, 79 lb Lab mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA. She is a strong dog who pulls on the leash when going for walks. She will need a strong adopter who can handle her strength. She knows basic commands and takes treats gently. She can be selective with other dogs and would do best as the only dog in the home. She would love a home with a yard where she can explore and lounge! She has not been tested with kids or cats but due to her size and strength we are recommending kids over 10 years old. Lady Rover is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $400.

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED! Meet Cooper! Cooper is an energetic, playful, 1-year-old, 70 lb, chocolate Lab. He is strong and still young and will need someone who is willing to work with him on his overall obedience training. He will need an active home and would love a family that likes to go on walks, hikes, and adventures. He is working stock and he would do well with someone who would like to do field training with him and give him a job. His perfect forever home would have a securely fenced yard for him to run and play in a suburban or rural neighborhood. He is not an apartment or city dog. He does not do well with other dogs and will need to be the only dog in the home. He is microchipped, neutered and UTD on shots. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
Hi, I'm Nadja! I was recently saved from starving in a filthy, locked room- where I'd been for the first few months of my life. Despite this, I am a smart, affectionate and eager-to-please puppy! I love attention and want to be friends with every human/animal I meet. My foster mom lives alone/works long hours, and wants to find me a big family, so I'm never lonely again. I would love a home with room to run, and hopefully some siblings to play with. I love playing tug/fetch, sleeping on your feet, and staring out the window. I'm very well behaved for a pup! I'm still learning how to be a dog, and am confused but excited by all my new experiences. I'm a little afraid of men, but warm up quickly once I know I'm safe. I've had a rough start, but made it out with my sweet spirit still intact. I hope you'll consider adding me to your family!

Story
Meet Champ-ersaurus, the big, gentle dinosaur dog who will steal your heart with just one wag of his tail. Despite his intimidating size, Champ is a lover, not a fighter, and is always eager to please his human companions. He's a quick learner, too - he knows how to sit and shake on command! Even though he was picked up as a stray, we can tell he’s had human interaction, he's potty-trained & used to being in a house and a yard. He doesn’t like the crate, yet isn’t destructive when left alone at his fosters home. He loves to get on the bed and is the happiest when he’s there. He loves kisses and snuggles and will normally take over the whole bed when he’s allowed up. While Champ is dog-friendly, he will give a few passive warnings if he is confronted with aggression from another dog. He does well with evenly matched dogs & likes having a play pal. Camp has had the most fun romping in the yard with some of the younger pups and plays gently with them. Champ doesn’t care much for cats & is not the best fit for a household with feline friends. Champ is definitely a people-dog - he prefers human companionship. If you're his owner, you're the apple of his eye! He's leash-trained and very calm on walks, even when encountering other dogs. And he loves going for car rides - he won't jump out unless invited to do so! At the shelter he was a volunteer favorite and gave the best hugs when they would come to visit him. Camp doesn't care if you are a man or a woman, he loves them all. He likes treats and takes them with ease. While Champ is a calm and well-behaved dog, his excitement can override his listening skills. We think he would do much better in a home with children over the age of ten, as he may accidentally knock them over or get a little too passionate with his zoomies. A yard and room to run would be fantastic for Champ. Champ loves toys, but he's not sure what a ball is for - he's more of a slow-moving tank than an athlete! He'll jog or run alongside you if you ask him to, but he's not very athletic and prefers to take things at his own pace. Maybe morning coffee in the yard where he can zoom or rest as he so desires! Champ-ersaurus is a wonderful dog who just wants to be loved and approved of by his humans. If you're looking for a big, loving dog to join your family, Champ is that guy. He will be an easy add to a home with another pup, or a fun family looking for a new addition. Story
Introducing Cody, affectionately known as "Little Guy," an adorable and playful puppy currently in foster care and eagerly awaiting his forever home. Cody has the cutest look, thanks to his delightful spots and beautiful coloring. His unique white streak down the center of his head makes him make him stand out. People always assume he got into the kitchen pantry and found the flour! While Cody enjoys the company of all his furry friends, it's clear that his best buddy is Tommy, the largest dog in the household. Cody doesn’t seem to care if Tommy is huge & loves to engage in playful interactions with Tommy and is often seen trying to initiate games with him. Cody’s favorite game is Tug of War with his pal Tommy. Although he's still working on his house training, Cody is making progress and is well on his way to becoming fully trained. Cody didn’t seem to mind the crate at first, but his foster mom soon realized he didn’t need it and leaves him out to play and interact with the other pups while she is away. Cody is a loving puppy, and while he hasn't been around children yet, he’s a sweet boy & we believe he would do well in a home with kids.Cody seems to thrive in the company of dogs of all sizes. He hasn't been exposed to cats, since he is young, we think he could at least try to meet them and see how he does. Cody is an energetic little fellow, as he is still just a puppy. He enjoys playing with toys, especially those he can get someone to play Tug with him. When he's not playing, you'll often find him napping, right alongside the other dogs in the house. This smart pup is currently learning basic commands, with "sit" being his primary focus. With continued patience and consistent training, Cody is sure to pick up more tricks & continue to learn how to be the best addition to his new family. If you're looking to add a playful and loving puppy to your family, Cody could be the perfect addition. Don't miss the chance to give this adorable "Little Guy" a forever home filled with happiness and warmth. Story
Meet our special girl, Eden! She was saved in the nick of time from the euthanasia list and is now looking for her forever home. Eden is a beautiful brown eyed girl & has nailed the puppy dog eyes when she looks up at your begging for love and pets. She’s a bouncy bundle of joy and loves playing with her toys. She will grab a toy and prance around showing her people what a smart gal she is. Eden’s left paw is white, giving the appearance of a glove just on one foot. We find it endearingly cute! When Eden was at the shelter, we noticed she knew how to sit and shake. We just know she had to of had a home at one point possibly with a family who taught her tricks. We know she’s wicked smart and with some introduction to new tricks, she will be able to pick up new things quickly. She’s very in tune with her people and scared of strangers. She does take a little bit to warm up and will likely need slow introductions to men. She gives great hugs and loves to get attention from her people. She will give little kisses in return. Eden met other dogs at the shelter and at her foster home. She seems to like other dogs and wants to play with them. Eden has cute head tilts and wins over the world once they see how beautiful her smile is. Eden is debating if she likes car rides and needs some coaxing in and out. She is not into cats, so it’s best her new home doesn’t have any. Eden is starting to feel amazing, since being out of the shelter and we see her personality coming out in bits and pieces. Now that she's feeling great, she’s looking for someone to play tug of war and teach her more tricks. We can’t wait to see Eden light up her new home with joy. To see more pictures and videos of Eden copy and paste this link, you can apply directly for Eden by clicking the “Apply for Adoption” button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-205 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
This handsome man is Jake Gyllenpaws. Jake is a real model and is good at stealing hearts with his good looks. His foster mom says Jake has the “model look” to him. He lays down and when you stop petting him, he looks back at you with "Blue Steel." Of course, this look often ends with more pets and kisses for the sweet boy. How could you not just love all over this boy? Jake loves to cuddle on the couch and be by your side soaking up all the love. After being stuck in the shelter, Jake has been working so hard on his doggie manners and wants to show you how far he's come. He can sit, lie down, and has been working on learning to stay. He is potty trained and loves to be outside in a yard with his family. He doesn’t much care for the crate, but his foster family is committed to showing him it can be a pawsitive place. Jake is a gentle boy and sensitive. After his last vet visit, he looked quite sad, so his foster mom took him to get a pup-cup and it made him very happy again. Jake will require continued spoiling and love, as he deserves the best. Jake is living with 2 other dogs in his foster family and loves having play mates. They get along very well outside of treat time. Jake would prefer not to share. It’s likely best to feed Jake separately from other resident dogs since he’s still learning that sharing is caring. This Jake Gyllenpaws isn’t a fan of cats. A home without felines is best for him. Jake is a Velcro boy and loves to be with his family. His human foster brother is turning out to be his best friend. Jake is learning to be gentle with him because he gets so excited when he sees him. Although Jake hasn’t met any smaller children, we think he would do well with kids over 10. He does like zoomies and with his zest for life, he may knock over the smaller ones trying to play. Sweet Jake is a real lap dog at heart and loves being by your side. If you're looking for an energetic and loving pup to join your family, Jake Gyllenpaws could be the perfect match for you!
