He came to us after his owner moved, and the transition didn’t go well for him, he’s a sensitive little guy who takes change hard.His previous home mentioned he wasn’t great with young kids under 5. We weren’t given much detail on what that meant, but since he’s been with us, he’s been nothing but calm, gentle, and easy to be around. Still, we think he’d do best in a quieter home with older kids who understand dogs like him like mellow, peaceful environments, not chaos.Candy Cane lived with a cat previously and did great with it, and he gets along really well with other dogs too. He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and really enjoys attention once he feels safe. Paso's journey hasn't been easy, but he's a resilient dog with a heart full of untapped potential. Found as a stray and brought to a shelter, Paso faced several challenges, including seizures and reactivity towards shelter staff.Recognizing Paso's need for specialized care, the shelter reached out to us. While he was initially reactive with us too, after being with us for nearly two years now and with plenty of time to decompress and adapt, Paso has become a staff favorite! While he still has some anxiety about meeting new people, given time and patience, he warms up beautifully.Paso's seizure disorder is managed with medication, though he experiences occasional break-through seizures which is normal for his condition. An MRI confirmed he has idiopathic epilepsy, so he will need lifelong medication. His future adopter should be prepared to maintain a close relationship with their vet.Paso's journey has left him with some emotional scars, including a bite history. He needs a patient and understanding person to help him heal and build trust. Due to his history of reactivity, Paso cannot be placed in a home with children.Paso is social and does well with other dogs, especially puppies. He loves showing them how to play and cuddle. Paso is very food motivated and eagerly anticipates mealtime, singing and jumping in excitement. When he first arrived, his skin was in rough shape from flea allergies and he had lost a lot of fur. He also had a severely damaged, bulging eye that had no vision and caused him discomfort.But here’s the good news! Markie is a fighter, and he’s come a long way. His bad eye has been removed, his skin has healed, and his fur is growing back soft, shiny, and absolutely beautiful. He has taken every change in stride and adjusted to his new one-eyed life like a total champ. Stay tuned! Applications are now open for Paddington! Experienced adopters preferred but not limited to, as puppies are a lifetime commitment. Adoption contract will ensure Paddington is neutered when he is of age at our trusted vets, this medical expense is included in the adoption donation.
