Meet Fry, a 10 month old pug mix with the most adorable pout. Fry came in with his sister, Leela, and they were terrified of their new surroundings. At 10 months old, they were just experiencing walking on a leash for the first time. Now he is walking so well on leash, and loves to take nice leisurely strolls where he can sniff as much as his little heart desires. We’ve loved seeing him blossom as much as he has while here at the shelter. His playful side is starting to come out and we think he’d do great in a home with another dog! He may need some time to warm up when meeting new people, but a little patience and some treats sure go a long way! At this time, the shelter is requiring him to go home with another dog, to help bring him out of his shell and bridge his relationship to people! His sister Leela and him make an adorable pair, but if you have another playful pup at home that would work too! Fry follows the lead of the other, more confident pups, to show him that people are friends and not as scary as he thinks they are. Wezley is about 4 years old, just over 20 pounds, and fully aware that he has opinions.He came to us after being relinquished because he started resource guarding his previous owner from her husband. Wezley takes his people very seriously, what can he say! In the right home, this is something that can be worked on. He is currently on medication for anxiety, and with structure, training, and continued socialization, he has a lot of potential to improve.Now that you know the serious part, here’s the real Wezley:He is a velcro pug in the truest sense. He wants to be near his person, always. He loves cuddles, sunshine, car rides, walks, running around, and rolling in grass like it’s his job. Then he’ll flip the switch and happily go off to sleep on his own like nothing happened.He also knows a ton of cues already: sit, stay, down, spin, roll, speak, wait, shake, outside, and all variations of “food” and “treat.” He is very smart and very food motivated, which is a big advantage for continued training.He does have some things he’s not a fan of, including nail trims, ear cleaning, loud noises, some male humans, and some larger dogs. So he’ll do best with structure, clear boundaries, and someone who understands dog body language and management.Since being with us, Wezley has actually done well with other dogs and all the people he's met! He can groom and relax with other dogs and enjoys being part of a calmer group energy.
