Story
Meet Zuni — a tiny, tender-hearted girl learning to be brave . Zuni is a 1-year-old rat terrier with the most soulful eyes and a beautifully unique coat, like she was carefully painted with love. At just 15 lbs. with her adorable docked tail, she's the perfect petite companion with a quiet presence that grows on you more each day. Zuni came from a rural shelter alongside her two sisters after being surrendered by a breeder. When she arrived, it was clear she had been severely under-socialized, and the world felt like a very big, overwhelming place. But since then, Zuni has been slowly, bravely discovering that people can be kind—and she's made incredible progress. She is still a very shy girl, and new situations can make her nervous. Right now, Zuni is not ready for leash walks, as being in environments where she doesn't feel in control can be frightening for her. She will need a patient, understanding home that's committed to continuing her socialization at her pace, with kindness and consistency leading the way. Despite her shyness, Zuni truly wants connection. She loves being around her people in a calm, familiar environment and finds comfort in routine. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night, adores treats, and absolutely lights up around other dogs—she would thrive in a home with a confident canine companion to help guide her and show her the world isn't so scary. Zuni may not run up to you right away, but give her time, and you'll see her begin to trust. She'll come closer, lean into gentle ear scratches, and quietly choose you. Those moments feel like tiny victories—and they add up to something really special. Zuni is looking for a home that understands that love doesn't always arrive loudly. Sometimes, it tiptoes in, soft and uncertain...until one day, it's right there beside you. If you have the patience to help a shy girl blossom, Zuni is ready to keep growing—with you . Story
I got Zara as a puppy when I was single with no children and she’s been my baby for 8 years. Now, that I’m married and a mom of almost two babies ( pregnant with one on the way) she doesn’t get the love and attention she deserves. Zara is very sweet & protective of those she loves but doesn’t bite. All bark no bite. Once she gets use to certain ppl she’s really sweet with others as well. She is potty trained and will inform you when she needs to go. She would be best in a home without other dogs ( it’s a hit or miss if they will get along). Children are also a hit or miss with Zara. She’s great with my daughter but doesn’t always do well with my friend’s children. She will lay at your feet and with you when you’re sick- she’s very loving. She loves being outside but does bark. She would do great with someone who wanted a little protection maybe even a single person or retired couple. She’s very healthy, never had any issues. Happy to answer any questions.

Story
Meet Reese – Your Loyal, Sun-Loving Companion Reese has been a cherished part of her family for the past three years, and it’s easy to see why. She is a deeply loyal, affectionate dog who thrives on human connection and loves being part of everyday life. Whether she’s soaking up the sunshine in the backyard or relaxing near her people, Reese is happiest when she’s close to those she trusts. Reese is incredibly friendly with adults and has done wonderfully with older children who understand and respect her space. She forms strong bonds with her people and will be a devoted, loving companion to the right home. Like many sensitive dogs, Reese can experience anxiety, especially in environments that feel overwhelming or unpredictable. Because of this, she will do best in a calm, structured home where she can feel safe and supported. She is looking for a home without young children or other dogs, ideally with adults or a family with older kids who are dog-savvy and understand boundaries. With consistency, patience, and continued training, Reese has so much potential to truly thrive. In the right environment, her sweet nature and unwavering loyalty shine through in the most beautiful way. Reese is ready to find her person — someone who will give her the stability, understanding, and love she deserves. In return, she’ll give you her whole heart. If you think Reese could be the right fit for your home, reach out to learn more about her and start the next chapter of her journey.

Story
Have you heard the news??? Zara is available to be adopted . . . with NO ADOPTION FEE!! A huge thanks goes to Animal Legal Defense Fund for this! Because of ALDF, actress Kate Mara is sponsoring the adoption fee for some of our amazing dogs! Wow - can you believe it?? You can adopt one of our great dogs, and spend the adoption fee on new toys, soft beds, and yummy treats instead! ara, named Blyss at the shelter, ended up there when someone called and said there was a dog on their front porch. We don't know if she was lost, or someone had dumped her, but no one came to get her, until we did. This girl, who we think is a mix of rat terrier, min pin and a little bit of pittie, is a petite girl. She weighed 29 pounds when we pulled her from the shelter, and was a bit underweight, with some filling out to do. She is about 2 years old now, and is at her perfect weight, weighing about 38 pounds. She has a slender little body with long legs, a beautiful red brindle coat, and ears for days! If you have wanted a dog to do dog sports with - like agility - this sweet athletic girl may be a great fit for you! Like all of our dogs, Zara is in Atlanta. She can be adopted at any time, and will be available to go to her new home when she graduates from the program in mid-December. March 10, 2026, 2:53 pm

Story
Hello, my name is Linky West! I'm around 9 years old and I weigh about 15-20 pounds. I think I'm a rat terrier mix. I'm spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, healthy, and ready to find my new home! I'm house trained and have learned to walk on a leash fairly well. I do not like crates for more than a short period of time, but that's okay because I can be left out without any worry of mischief making. When I first arrived at my foster home, I was very scared and unsure. Over time, I have settled in and come to love it here. I'm so much more happy and confident. I discovered that I love toys and cuddling. I also love treats! Now that I am more confident, I have found my voice and will let you know any time something even remotely interesting is going on in the house or the neighborhood, so I'd do best in a home that did not share walls with neighbors. I live with four other dogs right now. I prefer gentle, easy going dogs and do not care for bossy or dominant dogs. I also lived with cats in my last home. My favorite companion is my human though. Once I get to know you, I will adore you! Where you go, I go. I must insist that I sit on the couch with you and sleep in bed with you.    An odd quirk I have is that I get scared when someone tries to handle me (like a vet) or put something on my body (like a harness). If you slow down and speak sweetly, it helps me calm down a bit. My other request is a securely fenced yard. This is because I sometimes try to dart out the door and run wild, and also because I'm still working on my leash skills.  I'm really enjoying life in my foster home, but I am ready to find my new forever home!   An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions. We verify rental policies and adhere to any regulations. Please ensure you understand those restrictions before choosing a dog.          May 25, 2026, 2:34 pm
