Story
A SHY & SWEET FELLOW: Approx. 7 years old / Approx. 22 lbs. Hi, I'm Alfalfa! I came to Mostly Mutts when I found myself in need of a home! Thankfully, they took me in, and I am soaking up all the love and attention from the volunteers here and I heard them say that I'm now ready to find a family of my very own. That sounds good to me, so come and meet me soon and see if I am your new furry family member! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and though I wasn't quite ready to play, I also didn't show any aggression. I also coexisted nicely with a 9-year-old female dog about my size in a weekend foster home, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let's meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven't met kids yet at Mostly Mutts but do startle easily so if you have older calm-natured kids such as 10+, let's meet. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I'm a gentle boy who can be timid and fearful at first, especially in a new environment with lots of different people coming and going. Once you gain my trust, though, I'm a completely different boy—a loving little fellow who will happily give you kisses to let you know just how much I adore you! I'm settling in and becoming more comfortable every day, but because I can be a flight risk when I'm scared, I may try to slip through gates or fenced areas in a new environment, so please take extra care to keep me safe and secure. I believe I'd thrive in a calm, quiet home without a lot of people coming and going, where I can relax, build my confidence, and show you my wonderful personality. My weekend foster said I was "great in the car, quiet, polite and a true joy!" Give me a little time and patience, and I'll show you what a loving companion I am! / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer! I have good leash manners and accept friendly strangers without jumping. Check back soon to see what else I've learned and let's continue my training with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / I am not fond of being in a crate and I can get out of a metal one, so perhaps I won't need a crate in my new home or perhaps a bedroom could work while you are away. I did well in a crate for my weekend foster getaway so it may just depend on the setting. / My potty manners have been good on the shelter schedule, though I have been known to mark on my way outside. This is very trainable, so just ask about that. My potty manners were good for my weekend foster break. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love giving kisses and soaking up affection from my people! Belly rubs, gentle scratches, snuggles and relaxing in laps and dog beds are some of my favorite things. I'm sure we'll discover lots more things we like doing together in our new home! / I'm not fond of being rushed and overhead movements make me nervous. Like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I'm on an over-the-counter joint supplement called Cosequin that's good for all older dogs. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. I'm looking for a nice quiet and calm type home and family to love! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I'm located in Kennesaw, Ga. September 29, 2026, 7:56 pm
