A fenced in backyard yard is a must for this gal.  She has been through obedience training as a pup and knows some commands but will need a refresher course in leash training and jumping.  No kids under 16 due to resource guarding.  Large bully breed experience a must.  Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Beautiful Redd Potato is 1yo, weighs 88lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Redd Potato knows sit, stay, & off; she does well during car rides; she fears and/or dislikes thunder and loud noises.  Redd Potato's guardian adds:        "Redd Potato is very welcoming to friends and family alike, always the first to greet you at the door with her wagging tail and charming personality.  The coonhound in her is sure to immediately detect whether you will be the one to provide her beloved belly rubs, any toy, or a special treat - she's not picky.  Finding treats in puzzle toys (Kong, Woof, etc) is a favorite pastime.  When she smiles and looks at you with those beautiful amber eyes, you can't resist giving her an extra treat or two.  She loves a fenced yard and running back and forth or in circles.  When she gets tired or wants some quiet time, she retreats to her crate on her own. The groomers have not had any problems with her baths and nails, always reporting good behavior.  Redd loves to be loved and will love you right back. If you need a hole dug, she's your girl!  She will not climb a full flight of stairs but two or three is not a problem.  She needs some more practice on a leash, but doesn't do terribly bad."   Redd Potato's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:   "Interdog Aggression - raised with canine sister she was found and adopted with; LOVED each other until two weeks ago.  Now they growl at each other and must be kept seperate." BITE/SCRATCH/LUNGE/ATTACK INCIDENTS:  On 12 & 13 July 2023, Redd Potato bit her canine sister, the bite broke the skin, but animal control was not involved.  Redd Potato's guardian explains the circumstances surrounding the incidents:  "1st (incident) - Dogs were playing in the yard, and became overly aggressive with one another; both came out with injuries (bites and scratches).  They were fine the remainder of the night and next morning with each other.   2nd (incident) - The following night, after the girls had played together and eaten dinner, I was inspecting her for bites and scratches to apply first aid to, when her sister walked over and they lunged at each other and began to fight again. They separated willingly.  New scratches and bites from this incident were treated." Redd Potato's guardian offers a brief medical history: "Scrathes and bites from two dog incidents are healing are healing well.  Waiting for fur to grow back over where vet shaved and treated.  Cutaneous histiocytoma on chest should disappear on its own within a month or two." Redd Potato's guardian states the following regarding children:  Redd Potato lives with a 15yo child, but her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children, stating "Wags tail, wants attention". Redd Potato's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Redd Potato lives with her canine sister, but her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating "At most recent vet visit, left them [other dogs] alone.  If dogs walk by the house, she will bark at them from our fenced yard."  Redd Potato's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Redd Potato hasn't lived with cats, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "Barks at cat that walks outside of fence." Redd Potato's guardian describes her as: Very active Barks alot Playful Friendly Affectionate Fearful Indoor dog Nervous House-Trained Crate-Trained Digger Redd Potato's guardian describes her ideal future home:  "No dogs, no other pets, no young children, fenced yard." Hello! I am working to rehome my 2yo female Rottie. There is no fee. I’m more so concerned about her going to a home that is familiar with the breed (esp females as she isn’t warm but she can be sweet) and has room for her to run. We’ve spent thousands in training. She is AKC registered and eager to please. She just has a little too much drive as a true working dog given our schedule. Peppa is super attentive and smart. She’s also protective and loving. Her breeder (who can’t take her back bc he’s in Cali) and her trainer can be available for a conversation. A solid dog for the right person.

Story
Our Adoption Radius is One Hour (60 miles maximum) of Zip Code 20906. Emerie the Rottie/Shepherd mix is here to steal your heart... and maybe your socks. This 4-5 month old firecracker is the perfect package of cuteness, with a dash of "been-through-it-all" sprinkled on top. Why the "been-through-it-all" you ask? Well, Emerie had a bit of a rough start. She got hit by a car and needed a leg amputation, but that doesn't slow this pup down one bit! In fact, she's mastered the art of balancing on three legs in just two days, and conquering stairs with the help of a friend took a whole five days (what a slacker!). Now, Emerie is on the hunt for her forever family. She's a playful pup who wants to be your best friend, even if the other dogs are giving her the stink eye. She's vocal about wanting out of her crate, but don't be fooled - she's an angel child when you're not around (we have camera footage to prove it!). Emerie is a typical puppy, meaning she's got all the standard puppy quirks: nipping, biting, chewing, barking, and the occasional accident. But hey, that's just part of the fun, right? Emerie is waiting for her happily ever after, and it could be with you! Think you can handle the cuteness and the chaos? If you live within an hour (60 miles maximum) of zip code 20906 and are ready to commit to training this amazing pup, then email Tascas.Love@gmail.com for an application.

Story
Balenci is beautiful, playful, loving and sweet dog. She just needs time to get to know you first. Balenci is a large, Rottweiler and Husky mix who is only 1yr old. She needs a dog educated home that will help her in new situations. Once she knows you, Balenci is silly, happy and likes to run around and play. She likes any dog toy that squeaks. She is crate trained, housebroken and used to waiting at home in her crate until you return. Balenci has lived with children and gotten along, however we are looking for an adult home for her because she is unsure with certain handling and new situations. At home she is still a big puppy and likes to get exercise to tire her out.  She is food motivated for training and enjoys learning new things. She knows sit and give paw. Balenci needs a home with someone who has experience understanding how to read dog behavior.  She is sound sensitive so it doesn’t take much to get her attention once she bonds with you. She would love to be someone’s best friend, is good in the car and would enjoy going hiking with you. She just needs time to get used to new people. Balenci lived with another dog and got along well too. If you have a dog at home, you can bring them by to see if they will be a good match.  You can visit this pet during our Animal Viewing Hours below. ** I am currently being housed at our Oglethorpe St location. Come meet me at 71 Oglethorpe St NW, every day from 12pm-7pm. Please arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. to allow ample time to interact with adoptable dogs. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. Do you like "extremely friendly" big pooches? Do dogs that "lean" on you warm your heart? Well, do we have the perfect pup for you. Finnick is the dog of your dreams. He is ruggedly handsome and so loyal. Finnick was another stray dog, and we are stunned that no one claimed him. He is fun and social and sweet. He's also a very strong boy so be sure to hold that leash tight. Finnick is a smart dog that would thrive in positive training classes. He would also like a fairly active lifestyle followed-up with snuggle time on the couch. Ready for a dog that will make you smile? Finnick is waiting for you!
