Story
I'm at our New York Avenue shelter! If you want to adopt me, come to 1201 New York Ave. NE between 12-7 pm Tuesday-Sunday or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. The shelter gave me this silly name- Egg! So, first order of business when you adopt me is to give me an awesome new name, please. So, my story is this- someone and I can't name names because I only speak Dog- but someone left me tied to the shelter's fence and then left me! I was a bit confused but then some nice staff found me and got me inside to get warm. I've been having SO MUCH FUN, but I need a proper home please. I'm still kind of young so I need to be active. I'm a strong puppy, and already 80 pounds so be sure to hold my leash tight. I'm smart too and would thrive in positive training classes. So, if you can handle a big fella like me, please get to the shelter fast- we have lots to do!

Story
Mason is designated volunteer due to his leash reactivity. Whoever walks him should know not to allow him to get near anybody he is not okay with. He is a Designated Volunteer dog so he can have slow introductions to new people. Start to meet Mason by visiting him and throwing treats into his run area and talking with him. Once he seems sure, ask a staff member or favorite volunteers to introduce you. Once this is done Mason should be good with you walking him.

Story
Lou Lou greets life with a joyful energy and enthusiasm. She likes long walks, lots of playing and cuddles.  She enjoys exploring the world and meeting new people.  She would like to be friends with everyone and learn about everything.  Lou Lou is good with other dogs and respectful with cats.  While she is interested in children, she is a strong dog and may be too enthusiastic when interacting with small children.  She has a great deal of energy and does best when her energy is given an appropriate outlet.  Chew toys and games of chase the ball are favorites.  Lou Lou is crate trained and housebroken.  If you are looking for a faithful companion to share adventures, Lou Lou is ready to take on the challenge.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Story
**** COURTESY POST ONLY! *** Meet Angel! He is a very sweet, ~40 pound, 8 month old (as of December 2023), rottie mix. He is high energy and loves to play, run, and cuddle. He is still a puppy and will need some basic training with behavior like jumping and bathroom habits, but is already well socialized with people and dogs. He would do best in a household seeking a dog who is young, healthy, and friendly, who also has the time and energy to walk and train him. Interested in learning more about Angel? Brittany is part of the "Super Bowl" litter consisting of 6 males and 2 females born on 12/15/2023. Their mother is Liberty, a sweet three-year-old Rottweiler mix who weighs 55 LBS (picture included). After being rescued from a high kill shelter in Georgia, Brittany is now on the hunt for her forever home. Could that be with you? Brittany is your typical puppy. She is very outgoing and playful. She is friendly and does great with other dogs. At Brittany's young age, she is in her prime for training and socialization. She will make a wonderful addition for an active family or person. Please remember that young babies require a lot of time, love, and patience to become the best doggie citizens they can be. Submit an application today and change this beautiful girl's life forever! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  .
