HARPER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Harper and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (5/31) from 12-3 pm at the Petco in Rockville, MD (1507 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852)!     Name:   Harper          Best Guess for Breed:   Rottweiler mix   Best Guess for Age:   7 years as of April 2026         SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:   55 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Harper is Looking For:    Harper is ready to start her next chapter. With her soulful eyes and gentle presence, she has a quiet charm that draws you in and makes you want to learn more about her.  Harper is at that wonderful stage in life where she’s past the puppy chaos but still has plenty of love and companionship to give. Whether it’s joining you for a walk, lounging nearby, or simply being your steady sidekick, Harper is ready to find a place to call her own. What My Foster Says About Me:    Harper is a fun-loving, incredibly sweet girl who thrives on affection—she’s happiest curled up next to you soaking up cuddles and ear scratches. Social and eager to be part of the family, she loves meeting new people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Though she’s on the smaller side for a Rottie, she has the confident, easygoing spirit typical of her Rottweiler roots. She’s a low-maintenance companion with great manners. Harper rarely barks, walks beautifully on a leash, and settles easily in her crate for both overnight and daytime routines. She enjoys playtime with squeaky toys and may show a little playful stubbornness, but she’s responsive and builds trust quickly. Harper would do well as either a solo dog or with canine companions—she’s friendly, shares space and resources, and even enjoys grooming her dog friends. She’s also shown gentle curiosity toward other animals. She’s currently working on gaining weight after arriving underweight and is happily motivated by food and treats. While she may have a bit of stiffness in her rear legs, she gets around well and has handled stairs and walks (up to 2 miles!) with ease  A true couch companion at heart, Harper would love a home where she can relax by your side and be included in daily life. She’s still polishing her potty routine but is making steady progress with consistency. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate dog with a gentle nature and a playful streak, Harper might just be your perfect match. Story
Meet Tilly Mae ❤️ Tilly Mae is a beautiful 2-year-old, 65-pound spayed female Rottweiler who is looking for the perfect forever home. Her former owner fell on difficult times and wanted better for her than ending up in a crowded Tennessee shelter. Thankfully, a kind-hearted man named Steve stepped in to foster her, and now Critter Cavalry Rescue is helping Tilly Mae find the loving, Rottie-savvy family she deserves. Tilly Mae is everything people love about the Rottweiler breed — intelligent, loyal, devoted, and full of personality. She is still very much a puppy at heart with lots of energy and enthusiasm for life. She loves walks, exploring new places, car rides, toys, bones, and ending the day snuggled up on the couch or bed with her people. Tilly knows basic commands including sit, stay, and paw. She is crate trained, house trained, rides calmly in the car, and is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Like many intelligent guardian breeds, Tilly can be cautious in new situations and may bark when she is excited or unsure while getting comfortable in a new environment. Her foster has worked hard on socialization, and she has never shown aggression toward people or animals. Once she settles in, her sweet and affectionate side shines brightly. Tilly would thrive with an active, confident family that understands the Rottweiler breed and can continue her training and provide strong, loving leadership. She could do well as an only dog or possibly with another compatible dog friend. She has not been tested with cats or children. This gorgeous girl is looking for patience, structure, adventure, and love — and in return she will give incredible loyalty and companionship. If you’ve been searching for a devoted best friend and understand the amazing qualities of the Rottweiler breed, Tilly Mae may be your perfect match. ❤️ PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 2, 2026, 8:39 am

Current Location: Westminster, MD Hello! My name is Baby Girl! I'm coming to OPH on 3/13. Please check back soon for updates on my personality, and to see adorable new photos. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? If so please click “apply for adoption” or submit an application through the Adopt tab. Let’s get our family started! This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Read about heartworm disease here: Read more about heartworm disease at https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics

Story
Meet Magnolia, aka Maggie. This sweet bully girl was rescued just before Thanksgiving in PG County, MD. Her rescuer, and now foster mom, Mara saw a post on her Ring app about a dog tied to a light post in a local park. Animal Control had been contacted, but no one had responded, and with the cold weather, Mara worried for the dog’s safety. She went to look for her, walking through the park multiple times until she noticed a small shape on the ground that she initially thought was a bag, but it was Maggie, curled up in a tight ball, trying to stay warm. She was thin, dehydrated, and exhausted, but friendly, allowing Mara to leash her and bring her home. Maggie has been living with Mara, her partner, their dog, and a cat for the past seven weeks. During her first week, she slept a lot and was fed small, frequent meals to help her regain strength. It was clear she had recently had puppies and was also dealing with skin infections that needed treatment. After multiple vet visits, her skin issues have nearly fully resolved, her beautiful chocolate-brown coat is filling in, and she’s gaining weight and muscle.  Today, Maggie is a completely different dog. She’s come out of her shell and now shows the healthy energy of the young dog she is. She’s learned good house manners, is both house- and crate-trained, and has adapted well to being part of a pack. Maggie does well with the resident dog but is not a good fit with cats. We also brought in a trainer to work on her leash skills, and she’s made steady, positive progress.  At first, everything was exciting and new for Maggie, but with continued exposure, she has learned to navigate new social situations. She does well meeting visitors and joins her foster parents on outings, including trips to Home Depot. She recently attended a family holiday gathering where she did great with everyone.  We checked in with her foster mom, Mara, for an update: "Magnolia is such a sweetheart and so loving. She is a naturally friendly, social pup who is always seeking love and affection. Sometimes she even thinks she’s a lap dog. She’s an active girl who’s always ready to go and do, but she’s also learned how to settle indoors and is just as happy lounging on the couch for a movie night. Adjusting from her previous living situation (unknown) to life inside a home took a little time, but she’s absolutely loving it now. Magnolia loves the comforts of home and is a total cuddle bug who wants to be right by your side. We’re currently working on basic commands like “sit” and helping her build impulse control, balanced with playtime with her stuffies and cozy crate naps. She’s shown no signs of reactivity toward people or other dogs, and no resource guarding. She does, however, have a prey drive and is very interested in squirrels and other critters.” ******** We think Maggie would thrive in an active home and would love a canine companion of similar size and energy to play with. She’ll do best with an owner who has large-dog experience and is committed to providing structure and continuing her training so she can keep progressing. Maggie is an incredibly sweet girl who will make a loyal, loving companion. Apply today! BREED ESTIMATE: American Staffordshire Terrier Mix (Maybe some Boxer) GENDER: Female APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  50 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 2 years old COAT TYPE: Short coat ADOPTION FEE: $425.00 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/will be spayed and microchipped LOCATION: Temple Hills, MD     FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted.
