HARPER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Harper and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (08/02) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA 22305)!     Name:   Harper          Best Guess for Breed:   Rottweiler mix   Best Guess for Age:   7 years as of April 2026         SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:   55 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Harper is Looking For:    Harper is ready to start her next chapter. With her soulful eyes and gentle presence, she has a quiet charm that draws you in and makes you want to learn more about her.  Harper is at that wonderful stage in life where she’s past the puppy chaos but still has plenty of love and companionship to give. Whether it’s joining you for a walk, lounging nearby, or simply being your steady sidekick, Harper is ready to find a place to call her own. What My Foster Says About Me:    She's a small Rottweiler with all the confidence of a big one, and her favorite things in the world are squeaky toys, belly rubs, and lying on her side on the couch next to her people. She is endlessly, cheerfully social. She's great with new people and will ask just about anyone for a belly rub — she once spent an afternoon at a pickleball court, lying quietly on the sideline watching the game and then making the rounds of every player for pets. She's met kids from toddlers to twelve-year-olds and is happy to be petted and fussed over by them. She gets along well with other dogs, shares her food, water, and bed, and will even groom her friends. She loves the dog park, where she's eager to greet everyone before making her rounds to sniff and explore. She's had gentle, positive encounters with a neighborhood cat, too. Harper is easy in all the everyday ways. She has lovely leash manners and rarely pulls, though she'll perk up for another dog, a deer, or a rabbit. She barks very little — not at the front door, not at the garage, mostly just to get your attention. She naps wherever her human is, whether that's the couch, the floor, or under the desk. She's up around 6am but will wait patiently for you to be ready for the day, and she puts herself to bed on her own around 10pm. She goes into her crate willingly and has stayed in it overnight and through workdays without complaint. She gets genuinely excited about car rides and settles right in. She tolerates the shower well and loves the towel-dry afterward. And when she wants a little quiet time, she'll take herself off to a corner for a nap — she's good at telling you what she needs. At the table, she's a fan of cheddar cheese, hot dogs, boiled chicken, steak, and small Milk-Bones. She's missing a few teeth, so she eats a smaller kibble size, and she takes a daily medication for some stiffness in her back legs that keeps her comfortable and moving well. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Te-ah is a giant cuddly teddy bear! She loves to play with our resident dog, but is also happy to sprawl flat on the ground or snuggle up next to you on the couch. She is so sweet, and she will make you feel very safe. We have a busy household and a cat and she has handled everyone and everything with no issues; she loves everyone and wants them to love her. She is curious about the cat, and they are safely coexisting. She is loving my fenced-in yard, but will need some training to walk on a leash. She is doing very well with potty training and sleeps through the night in her crate. Come meet beautiful mama Te-ah and prepare to have your heart stolen! Adoption Day: September 5th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt. Some pups may stick around until 11:00 AM for the public event—check our Facebook page closer to the date to see if this pup will be attending the extra fun! ##2743790##

Story
Current Location: Westminster, MD Hello! My name is Baby Girl! I'm coming to OPH on 3/13. Please check back soon for updates on my personality, and to see adorable new photos. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? If so please click “apply for adoption” or submit an application through the Adopt tab. Let’s get our family started! This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Read about heartworm disease here: Read more about heartworm disease at https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics

Story
Lexie is a thorough bread German Rottweiler. I have Official Papers of her Blood Line and on her. I will provide her medical Records and papers when she is rehomed.I acquired Lexie when she was 8 weeks old. Lexie is now 2.8 years old. I need to rehome Lexie due to the fact that my 2 younger grandchildren were and still is afraid of her. It is unfair to Lexie to keep her crated. She is very sweet, loves to hug, loves to be touched, loves to be petted, clingy and loves to give kisses. She weighs 85 pounds. Lexie loves children. Due to the fact that Lexy is a strong dog she will do better in a home with children who are not afraid to play with her all day. She is a jumper I am working on teaching her not to jump on people. Lexie loves to play with all types of dog toys.

Unfortunately, I do not have enough time to take care of him the way he needs. Story
If you are interested in adopting Kingston, please contact dogs@lostdogrescue.org. All hail Kingston, ruler of the backyard zoomies, champion of fetch, and professional lean-in-for-a-belly-rub expert. This affectionate, sweet boy has perfected the art of “play hard, nap harder.” One minute he’s trotting happily beside you on a walk, the next he’s sprawled dramatically by your desk like he just finished a very important business meeting. Kingston’s dream life? A fenced yard, a basket overflowing with toys, and a favorite human to shadow from room to room like a very devoted (and slightly silly) personal assistant. He’s the kind of dog who will quietly keep you company while you work, supervise your cooking from the kitchen floor, and politely request his daily quota of bear hugs and belly rubs. He truly just wants to be with his favorite human, whether that’s hanging out inside or heading outdoors for walks, sniffing adventures, fetch, and games. Even better? This good boy is currently thriving in a foster home where he’s shown just how naturally he fits into family life. He is house-trained and crate-trained, sleeps soundly through the night, and settles beautifully into a routine like he’s been part of the family forever. Equal parts goofy sidekick and loyal best friend, Kingston is ready to trade foster life for couch naps, sunny walks, squirrel patrol duty, and forever-family status. If your house could use a little more laughter, love, and paw-print energy, Kingston is ready to move in and claim his throne.

Boxer mix Tilly is a lovable and energetic girl, doing a great job learning all about being a great friend! She is very bright and loves puzzle games with treats at the end. Tilly is generally food motivated – she even loves tomatoes for a special treat –can navigate stairs, sleeps through the night, and is respectfully playful with her grown-up foster brother. She even mastered “sit” in one day! She will tell you when she needs to go outside, and has also learned to use a pee pad in a pinch. While she loves learning and challenges, Tilly also loves a good snuggle with her people after some backyard zoomies. Smart, fun, and cute as can be, Tilly will make a perfect new best friend!

Story
Meet Axel, a four-year-old male Doberman. Axel has natural ears, fawn coloration, and a docked tail. He is a gentle giant who loves to be with his people. Axel is sweet and easygoing, and he genuinely aims to please his humans. He knows basic commands (sit, come, down) and has adjusted to changes in routine quickly. He's well-behaved in the house, and we haven't needed to crate him. He pulls on the leash and would benefit from more training to walk well. He does better in a harness. Axel is keenly interested in squirrels, rabbits, foxes, and whatever wildlife stumbles through the neighborhood. On walks, he generally alerts before pulling toward something. He enjoys looking out the windows and patrolling the backyard. He will bark if he sees or hears something that concerns him — squirrels, trucks, the occasional passerby — but when guests come over, he meets new people with quiet curiosity. Axel is a good eater — he's a big boy at around 92 pounds — but he has good food manners and is not a counter-surfer. We do not have experience with Axel around children. We think he would be gentle and kind, because that is his nature. At the same time, his size and enthusiasm could be a handful. For that reason, we recommend a home where everyone is familiar with Dobermans and willing to help Axel continue to learn. Prior to coming to DAR&E, Axel lived with a smaller female mixed breed, which makes us think he would be comfortable in a home with another female dog. Axel was a bit overweight when he came to DAR&E. As part of his veterinary care after coming to DAR&E, we found out that his thyroid gland was under active which often causes weight gain. It’s a condition that is very common with Dobermans. It is managed with an inexpensive daily thyroid supplement. Axel is a loving dog who would thrive in a home with treats, a comfy dog bed, and humans to lean against and love him back. He is being fostered in Maryland. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.
