Story
Dior is a 2 1/2 year old rottweiler -pitbull mix. Her features resemble a rottweiler, but she’s on the smaller side (pitbull sized). She is friendly, house trained, and good with children and other pets. Dior has had a rough start to life as I am aware of two previous owners, the most recent being a homeless man. Do to inconsistency and being bounced around, Dior has developed separation anxiety. I am currently fostering her to keep her off the streets and out of a shelter, but I cannot fully commit to adopting her as I already have pets of my own and not enough space to keep another. Dior deserves a loving home with someone who is patient and familiar with caring for dogs. If that’s you, please submit an application and give this wonderful girl the life she deserves.

Story
Hi, I’m Hannah, and I'm sweeter than a banana :) Socialization: I’m friendly and love hanging out with people, kids and adults alike.  I warm up quickly and thrive with attention. Intelligence: I’m smart and confident.  I’ve already learned commands like “sit,” “wait,” “crate,” "down", "leave it", "stay", and “paw”.  I’m a quick learner!  Give me just a few days and I'll be solving equations ^_^ Training: I’m fully crate trained and actually love being in my crate.  It’s my cozy little den.  I’m still working on potty training, but here's the thing: I love water but have a small bladder. Preferences: I’m a total comfort girl, that's no surprise.  Give me a plush bed and I'll be in heaven.  But if one isn’t there, I'll improvise.  I’ll happily climb into your lap and take a nap. Adoption Day: April 25th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt. Some pups may stick around until 11:00 AM for the public event—check our Facebook page closer to the date to see if this pup will be attending the extra fun! ##2689432##

If you’re looking for a well-mannered, loving dog who will shower you with affection and be your constant companion, Boo Boo is ready to steal your heart! ❤️ What my foster says: I was amazed by how respectful and accommodating he was towards my two large dogs, from Day One. Story
Current Location: Charlestown, WV Hello! My name is Baby Girl! I'm coming to OPH on 3/13. Please check back soon for updates on my personality, and to see adorable new photos. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? If so please click “apply for adoption” or submit an application through the Adopt tab. Let’s get our family started! This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Read about heartworm disease here: Read more about heartworm disease at https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics

Story
If you are interested in adopting King, please contact dogs@lostdogrescue.org Hi! I'm King. I am loving, loyal, and - ok, you made me say it - very handsome. Oh, and did I mention that I am looking for a best friend to adopt me? I like leash walks, especially in calm and quiet spaces where we can spend some quality time together without the crowds. But, I may get distracted by all of the wonderful smells because I really do need to put my nose on everything to explore the wonders of the world. Not only am I curious, I am up for a challenge! I like to run across streams, jump on logs, and hike the trails. I have lots of energy so will be sure to help keep up with your exercise plan. I even like to get in a jog from time to time. And, not to brag, but I am pretty smart. But, for the sake of all those delicious treats, I will pretend that it takes me time to master new tricks and skills. One more thing to tell you. I like to talk when I play. I hope you will come to meet me so we can play together forever, just you and me!

To learn more about Maria Lee, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org. Maria Lee will be at one of our adoption events this weekend! Visit our event page (https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) to see which one—event listings are usually updated on Fridays with attending dogs. Meet Maria Lee, the boxer mix with a heart full of love and just the right amount of personality! At 6 years young, this lovely lady is serving up equal parts sweetness and spunk, with a gentle charm that sneaks up on you (in the best way). She’ll greet you with a soft hello, a curious nose boop, and before you know it, you’re under her spell. Maria Lee is the kind of girl who doesn’t rush the spotlight—she lets her sparkle shine in its own time, and trust us, it’s worth the wait. Once she’s feeling comfy, Maria Lee is ready to box you into a game of fetch! Balls are her jam—she’ll carry them proudly, nudge them your way, and patiently wait for the next toss like the true MVP she is. You might even catch a playful bow or a cheeky paw tap inviting you to join in. On walks, she’s a total pro—trotting along with a happy rhythm, taking in the sights, and showing off her leash manners like a seasoned sidewalk superstar. And when playtime winds down? That’s when Maria Lee really leans in—literally. She’s all about those cozy cuddles, gentle pets, and blissful belly rubs, with a bonus round of butt scritches (her personal favorite). With her sweet spirit, loving nature, and just the right touch of playful flair, Maria Lee is ready to be your loyal leading lady. Could she be the leading lady your heart’s been waiting for?

Story
Meet Alara, a bright eyed, black and tan, female Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. She is approximately one year old and weighs 55 pounds. Alara is a lover and adores having her ears and shoulders massaged. She loves resting her head in your hand or on your leg. Alara entered foster care with DAR&E in early February. She knows “sit” and has been working on crate training and the cues “wait/release”, “laydown”, and “leave it”. She’s very treat motivated, and has been doing great with training. Alara loves her crate, thinking of it as a big treat dispenser, and often going in by herself to take a nap. Currently she’s been practicing with shorter periods of time in her crate. It will be a while longer before she can be left for hours every day. Around the house she’s fairly independent in playing with toys and trotting around. Outside, she adores walks and walking around the yard. Overall she doesn’t seem to mind the chilly temperatures and navigates walking on the snow/icy spots well. As a young pup, daily exercise is very important. She's a bit nervous at the vet and around new things, showing her nervousness with barking. She responds well and is able to reset and settle in a short amount of time. Alara will require an adopter with prior Doberman or working dog experience, and someone, providing structure in her life and exposing her to things little by little. She will also need someone who has experience with younger dogs, providing appropriate chews and toys and understanding puppyish behavior. In Alara’s first several days, she reacted to new noises by barking. She’d bark when the heating unit came on or the refrigerator came on and would also bark at external noises. We started calmly saying the word “noisy” and have seen a huge difference in Alara’s composure, and also her ability to bark a little and then settle. Both when she’s relaxed and after she’s been a bit worked up we’ve been saying “you’re fine”. This has really been helping with her being more relaxed, her ability to fairly quickly calm after getting worked up, and her need for human connection. She will need an adopter’s continuing help with desensitization and also gradually and slowly seeing a dog at a distance and determining her level of comfort. Alara is a sweet, loving girl who hasn’t had the best start in life. She will thrive with a kind, patient person. Alara is being fostered in Maryland and would love to meet you! DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.
