She would do best in a home with no children or older children who will respect her boundaries and no other pets, as she enjoys being the center of your world. While Liberty can get along with some dogs, she is selective about her canine companions and prefers to choose her friends. She’s housebroken, well-behaved, and walks beautifully on a leash. With a medium energy level, Liberty loves her outings but also knows how to unwind and relax when it's time to settle down. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will cherish your company, Liberty might be the perfect fit!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. If you are interested in adopting King, please contact dogs@lostdogrescue.org With the help of a compassionate donor, this Pet Pal is one step closer to a forever home! Hi! I'm King. I am loving, loyal, and - ok, you made me say it - very handsome. Oh, and did I mention that I am looking for a best friend to adopt me? I like leash walks, especially in calm and quiet spaces where we can spend some quality time together without the crowds. But, I may get distracted by all of the wonderful smells because I really do need to put my nose on everything to explore the wonders of the world. Not only am I curious, I am up for a challenge! I like to run across streams, jump on logs, and hike the trails. I have lots of energy so will be sure to help keep up with your exercise plan. I even like to get in a jog from time to time. And, not to brag, but I am pretty smart. But, for the sake of all those delicious treats, I will pretend that it takes me time to master new tricks and skills. One more thing to tell you. I like to talk when I play. I hope you will come to meet me so we can play together forever, just you and me!

Story
Meet Bear, a five-year old, black & tan, male Doberman, weighing approximately 90 pounds. Bear is a striking, sensitive, and people-oriented Doberman who is looking for a calm, structured, and Doberman-experienced forever home. He is deeply loyal to his caregivers and thrives on consistent routine, clear leadership, and positive guidance. When first meeting new people or encountering new situations, Bear can be cautious and unsure. With patient, confident handling, he settles in nicely and reveals his affectionate, devoted nature. Once comfortable, Bear becomes a true “velcro Doberman,” preferring to stay close to his people and be included in daily life. Bear is intelligent and responsive. He knows his basic commands, is fully house-trained, and is crate-trained for rest or decompression when needed. He LOVES to ride in the car, both in and out of the crate, and handles transitions best when expectations are clear and predictable. With other respectful dogs, Bear is generally social and playful and tends to match their energy appropriately. He does best with proper introductions and structured management in new environments. Despite his size, he is gentle at heart and benefits from a calm household atmosphere. Bear has typical Doberman drive and requires daily physical exercise and mental stimulation to remain balanced and content. He is not destructive, but he should be provided with regular enrichment, training, or engaging activities to prevent boredom. Long walks, structured play, puzzle toys, scent work, or continued training will all help him thrive. Ideal Home for Bear Bear will do best in a home that offers: - Doberman experience (required) - A calm, predictable environment with consistent routine - A secure, fully fenced yard - Active adopter(s) committed to daily exercise and enrichment - An adult-only home without children - A home without cats Bear is not suited for first-time large-breed owners, low-activity homes, or households seeking an independent dog. He needs leadership, structure, and connection to be his best self. For the right adopter, Bear will be a deeply loyal, affectionate, and devoted companion who truly wants to be your partner in life. Bear is being fostered in Maryland. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Meet Alara, a bright eyed, black and tan, female Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. She is approximately one year old and weighs 55 pounds. Alara is a lover and adores having her ears and shoulders massaged. She loves resting her head in your hand or on your leg. Alara entered foster care with DAR&E in early February. She knows “sit” and has been working on crate training and the cues “wait/release”, “laydown”, and “leave it”. She’s very treat motivated, and has been doing great with training. Alara loves her crate, thinking of it as a big treat dispenser, and often going in by herself to take a nap. Currently she’s been practicing with shorter periods of time in her crate. It will be a while longer before she can be left for hours every day. Around the house she’s fairly independent in playing with toys and trotting around. Outside, she adores walks and walking around the yard. Overall she doesn’t seem to mind the chilly temperatures and navigates walking on the snow/icy spots well. As a young pup, daily exercise is very important. She's a bit nervous at the vet and around new things, showing her nervousness with barking. She responds well and is able to reset and settle in a short amount of time. Alara will require an adopter with prior Doberman or working dog experience, and someone, providing structure in her life and exposing her to things little by little. She will also need someone who has experience with younger dogs, providing appropriate chews and toys and understanding puppyish behavior. In Alara’s first several days, she reacted to new noises by barking. She’d bark when the heating unit came on or the refrigerator came on and would also bark at external noises. We started calmly saying the word “noisy” and have seen a huge difference in Alara’s composure, and also her ability to bark a little and then settle. Both when she’s relaxed and after she’s been a bit worked up we’ve been saying “you’re fine”. This has really been helping with her being more relaxed, her ability to fairly quickly calm after getting worked up, and her need for human connection. She will need an adopter’s continuing help with desensitization and also gradually and slowly seeing a dog at a distance and determining her level of comfort. Alara is a sweet, loving girl who hasn’t had the best start in life. She will thrive with a kind, patient person. Alara is being fostered in Maryland and would love to meet you! DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.
