While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- ROSA IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION. PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW. Rosa is a mature adult Rotteweiler who may be 7-9 years old and weighs about 90 pounds. Even though Rosa was missing some hair and hasn't been taken the best care of, someone taught her how to sit and shake hands. She's a sensitive girl who was been upset by losing her family and is comforted by the presense of her foster mom. She would even happier in her very own home with a new family!Rosa is a strong girl who will need a physically capable adopter as she can pull pretty hard on leash. She has been reactive to other dogs and cats in her foster home so being an only child will set her up to be the most successful! We know there are so many great people out there how love rotties! We just need to find one that will give Rosa the happy ending we want for her!A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Rosa, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Alfalfa has so many meanings. To horse people alfalfa is a rich and green leafy food :) To dog people, Alfalfa, means ME!!! I have not lead the most "leafy" life though. I was FINALLY saved from an extreme hoarding situation - I was waiting my whole life to leave that "life" behind!! And I am SO grateful to the ladies who have taken over a year to save 65 of the 87 dogs I lived with AND are still working to get more out! I am a shy when u first meet me, but don't let that de-suade you! I will warm up and you will be so so grateful that you gave me the time to open up to you and show you my steady and grateful side, I am more of a loner than a lot of hoarding dogs are, I actually would be fine with or without another dog or cat. Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters! I am GhostBuster and I have a neat, sad and then happy story to tell you... So hang on for the ride!! But realize my NEXT BEST CHAPTER can include you!! In the sweltering heat I was blessed enough to CHOOSE the Post Office to hang out in. I was there for months, and no one could get me...and they tried but they deliver MAIL, not SAVE DOGS for a living..:) The Post Master knew about a local rescue, and they tried to help me too...then I was hit by a car and injured... AND I found a girlfriend and she was my lucky break, literally. The Police Department was finally able to save us and away we went to the rescue! My sweet girlfriend, Avian, was adopted before me, but I believe this is MY TIME!! Here is what my rescue friends describe me.."GhostBuster is always happy to see you, his eyes shine, tail wags, and his energy boosts whenever he sees his favorite people! He has the subtle markings of a Rottweiler or a Doberman and the temperament of a lab. He had an injured hip when saved but he has had surgery and has had his heartworms treated. During all this time he has started to know what a kind hand is like, some love, and real food! So, as you can see I am a BIG BIG GUY(130#)!!! Like the German Rotties, I have a BIG old HEAD and a propensity to protect my people....... I need just the right home, no other dogs please. I was not socialized with other dogs while growing up and am a big boy and so introducing to other dogs is a challenge for the rescuers and therefore we are looking for a single dog home. I am a very typical rottie and was kept as a protector of the property. I LOVE my people and honestly would love to be a lap dog, lol, but I also need a couple or single who is a strong leader, who really understands my breed and who will assure that I stay safe and others do as well. Now, I have a sweet and loving side, and my friends love that about me ;) But look at my face, without my toothy grin, and you know they understand that I am a serious guy :) I love my peeps and am ready for just the right place. I can only be adopted in TX and HAVE to be met and introduced and spend time with me before the rescue will approve my adoption. So only the strong need apply!!
