FOLLOW EMAIL INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO APPLY. WE CANNOT REPLY TO INQUIRIES SENT DIRECTLY THROUGH ADOPT-A-PET. MEET AMY!! NORTH NEW JERSEY Amy is an 8-ish yo 13 lb. female white and black Shih Tzu - Yorkie type mix that is a SUPER sweet little girl that LOVES being with her people. She is the perfect couch potato for someone that needs a snuggle buddy. Her bloodwork is normal, she had a dental, was spayed, and had a large bladder stone removed. She is UTD, HW and Lyme negative, chipped, dewormed, and housebroken. We also did allergy testing since she was missing some hair and was itchy upon arrival. She has some food allergies so we switched her to a kibble that is working well for her. She also has some seasonal allergies that a cyto-point shot is handling well. She is no longer itching and her hair is growing back. Her new owner should expect to need to do cyto-point shots in the future as needed. Note, Apoquel did not work for her seasonal allergies. She is also allergic to dog dander and given that she has no interest in other dogs, it would be ideal for her to be an only dog in her new home. If she has furry siblings they need to be non-shedding dogs with hair (thus no dander). She was excellent at the vet and groomer and loves everyone she meets after she warms up. She is a little shy upon first meeting strangers. She enjoys short walks and a quiet home environment. No young children visiting or living in the home. TO BE CONSIDERED, PLEASE EMAIL THE FOLLOWING PRELIMINARY DETAILS to: adopt@gingerbreaddogs.org - Name of dog(s) you are interested in adopting - Your full name - Full address - Phone number - Type home (house, condo, apt, etc.) - Fenced-in yard details if any - Ages of everyone living in household - Work schedule of adults in household - Ages of children visiting the home and frequency - Current dogs in home: name, breed, size, and age - If no current dogs, then your previous dogs (name, breed, age, what happened to them) - How soon are you looking to adopt? - How soon are you able to conduct a meet & greet in north NJ? - Your Veterinary practice references including phone number (GIVE THEM PERMISSION TO SPEAK WITH US BEFORE SENDING THIS EMAIL) We cannot accept phone calls and PLEASE give your vet office permission to speak with rescues if you are applying to adopt from any rescue. Ask them to mark your file. If they will not speak with me, I will move on to the next application and you will not be considered. We consider out of area adoptions on a case-by-case basis. All meet & greets and adoptions are held in north New Jersey and we do not transport our pups. You must come to NJ. We also do not “hold” dogs. It is first qualified, first come and our expectation is you will move quickly to conduct the meet & greet if you are approved. An approved application does not guarantee adoption of any dog from our rescue. AMY DETAILS - 8+ yo. 13lb. female Shih Tzu - Yorkie type mix - Sweet, shy and affectionate - LOVES to be with her people - Preferably only dog but can live with non-shedding / hair dogs (no dander) - Allergic to dog dander, some seasonal allergies; requires cyto-point shots as needed - No young children living or visiting the home - Fenced in yard preferred - Housebroken for outside - UTD, HW/Lyme negative, chipped, dewormed, blood work, xrays, dental, spayed, stone removed - Adoption fee is $500 Note: adoption fees are not negotiable. Our typical investment in our dogs is $1,200 and it goes up from there. If you cannot afford an adoption fee, you should not be adopting any dog. They are expensive, especially these little ones! WE CANNOT REPLY TO INQUIRIES SENT DIRECTLY THROUGH ADOPT-A-PET. PLEASE FOLLOW THE EMAIL INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE TO APPLY.

Story
Meet Gizmo Giblet! 6 years old and 14lbs. This adorable pup prefers to be the only child so a home with human kids will not be considered for his adoption. Gizmo is the dog for you if you’re looking for a boy that wants to be beside you, no matter what! You understand that he communicates by growling along with nasty comments, and you don’t mind that he will bark and scratch at doors to get your attention when you leave him. He will also help keep friends and family away by barking, growling and snapping at them when they get close to you. He is a happy and playful boy that loves squeak toys and will insist on sleeping beside you and may pee in your bed Interested in becoming a forever home for Gizmo Giblets? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Gizmo Giblets. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Gizmo Giblets the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
Meet Shiloh! Shiloh is an 18-month-old 12-pound Shih Tzu with the best personality. She seems to be "special" in her own way, and we can never know the history behind it, but she is a sweet fun joy to be around. She seems to be slightly hard of seeing, but she still has plenty of eyesight to make life fun and enjoyable. Her recent vet visit shows no abnormalities, and she had bloodwork at her visit. Shiloh tries very hard to use the potty pad when she’s inside. She does well with other dogs and cats, and older children. Shiloh doesn’t really know how to walk on a leash. She tends to follow a few steps and then roll over for tummy rubs so she will definitely need practice to make walks fun and exciting. However, we think she’s just the right size to pick up and take with you anywhere. Ready to learn more about Shiloh? Fill out an application as soon as possible, this sweet girl will be adopted quickly. Interested in becoming a forever home for Shiloh? Story
Update 12/26/22: Our little grinch Mad Max had a lot to be grumpy about this holiday season. He has just passed his 1 year anniversary with our rescue, which meant an annual vet visit, shots updated, bloodwork… he was displeased 😡 His owners had said he was about 4 years old, but he’s definitely more at the senior stage of his life according to his recheck this week, at least 7-8 years old. Since they couldn’t seem to keep him from constantly running loose and playing in traffic, it’s not surprising they couldn’t count either 🤦‍♀️ He is still an angry little mad man at times but has mellowed quite a bit- between his age and low-stress low-expectation lifestyle he’s been living, maybe he will actually be a nice dog by the time he’s a teenager. If you respect his space and let him be himself he’s actually pretty pleasant and easy to live with, has an understanding with his other weird bad boy dog friends, and appreciates a stable routine. Definitely no children and a calmer adult home, he’s looking for someone who understands him and will work to build a bond of mutual respect, maybe even love one day. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Mad Max in Northern NJ Meet Mad Max! He came to us with a bit of a reputation… a multiple time running-at-large offender whose owner finally decided to just not pick him back up from the shelter instead of just getting him neutered and being more careful to keep him at home 🤦‍♀️. He was a feisty guy at the shelter with a big personality, aloof with strangers, protective of his food, and not liking some handling. In other words a normal Lhasa type personality and Second Chance demon dog🤷‍♀️. Here he’s not as bad as expected, respectful of the dogs and has warmed up and been sweet and avoidant of confrontation for the most part, definitely no Ray or even Prancer. He seemed to actually be very accustomed and comfortable with a basket muzzle for grooming and vetting which is great… without the muzzle he tried tasting the clippers 😖 but as soon as the muzzle was on he immediately flopped down and calmly allowed us to shave him. Rated R for sure, no kids and a respectful adult home that knows when to give him space and give him attention on his terms. Another dog or a few dogs to live with seem to help balance him, and he so far seems to be pretty housebroken as well as wee wee pads if needed. Mad Max is approximately 4 years old and we think a Lhasa and/or Shih Tzu mix, 15lbs full grown, and is neutered and updated on shots. Please email njwoof@cs.com to meet him Due to COVID-19, we will not be holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we can schedule socially distant appointments with a specific dog outdoors at our vet’s office: VCA Morris Plains Animal Hospital 3009 Rt 10 East Morris Plains (Denville on GPS) NJ 07950 Now is the perfect time to open your home to a needy dog! Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
