Story
Meet Gizmo Giblet! 6 years old and 14lbs. This adorable pup prefers to be the only child so a home with human kids will not be considered for his adoption. Gizmo is the dog for you if you’re looking for a boy that wants to be beside you, no matter what! You understand that he communicates by growling along with nasty comments, and you don’t mind that he will bark and scratch at doors to get your attention when you leave him. He will also help keep friends and family away by barking, growling and snapping at them when they get close to you. He is a happy and playful boy that loves squeak toys and will insist on sleeping beside you and may pee in your bed Interested in becoming a forever home for Gizmo Giblets? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Gizmo Giblets. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Gizmo Giblets the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY FOR ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS Meet Suzie – A Special Shih Tzu with a Heart Full of Love Suzie is a 3 year old, 15lb Shih Tzu who has overcome so much and is now ready to live the life she deserves. Rescued from a puppy mill, Suzie spent her early years being used for breeding—but no more babies for this girl! She’s now spayed, vaccinated, and soaking up love in her foster home. Suzie is a gentle soul who lives peacefully with two foster dog brothers (80 lbs and 40 lbs) and three cats. She’s a sweet, quiet companion who loves to be right by her foster mom’s side, she’s truly a little shadow who just wants to feel safe and close to her person. When Suzie was first rescued, she was severely matted and had to be groomed immediately. During that first grooming, it was discovered that all four of her paws are deformed, a birth defect confirmed by a vet, meaning she has no bone structure in her feet. But don't worry, Suzie doesn’t let it stop her! She gets around with a precious little waddle, and while she can’t take long walks, she enjoys romping in the grass or padding around on carpet. Suzie may have unique needs, but has endless love! She also receives two daily eye medications (one drop, one cream) due to past neglect. She’s a trooper with her meds and always stays calm during her care routine. Suzie is wee-wee pad trained and will also potty outside when given the chance. Suzie doesn’t drink water from a bowl or bottle, but she stays hydrated through her wet or freeze-dried food mixed with extra water. She LOVES her meals and gets visibly excited when it’s time to eat! No Squeaky Toys, Please. Suzie does not like squeaky toys, the sound makes her panic, so a quiet and calm environment is best for her.  Suzie's ideal home would be a calm,  quiet environment where someone is home often to keep her company. She will need someone committed to continue her simple eye care and food routine. She would love a soft surface or grassy area to explore safely. Suzie is a beautiful example of resilience and trust. After everything she’s been through, she’s ready for a loving forever home where she can spend the rest of her days safe, adored, and pampered like she deserves. If you are ready to give Suzie the life she has always dreamed of and deserved, please go to petresqinc.org to fill out an adoption application. Questions will be answered once we have an application.  July 2, 2025, 9:17 am

Story
Layla is a playful, affectionate family dog who loves people and other dogs. She’s very active and does best in a home where someone is around most of the time. She doesn’t do well crated or confined to one area of the house—she wants to be part of the family. Layla barks a lot, mostly just for fun, so she’ll need a home that’s okay with a noisy dog. She’s not house trained yet and will need a patient family willing to work with her on that. She also has severe allergies that will likely need lifelong management. When she came in, her skin was badly infected, but with treatment and a new diet, she’s doing much better. She may need ongoing care, including monthly allergy shots. Layla is a great dog with a lot of love to give. She’ll thrive with a committed family who understands her needs and is ready to make her part of their everyday life. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Story
***REQUIRED*** Patches must be adopted to a home that already has a dog. She's happiest with other dogs! Patches is a 2½-year-old Shih Tzu with a sweet soul and a quiet charm. This little lady is friendly, gentle, and has all the makings of a devoted companion. She’s crate trained, sleeps peacefully through the night, and is this close to being fully housebroken. Patches is on the quieter side — she only speaks up when she has something to say, like letting you know it’s cuddle time. She gets along well with other dogs but doesn’t necessarily need a canine buddy to be happy. That said, she would likely thrive in a home with another dog and in a quieter environment overall. She would not do well in an apartment or a busy city setting. What she really wants is someone to love and stick close to. She’s not spayed yet, but that will be taken care of through our vetting process. If you're looking for a sweet, steady, and affectionate best friend, Patches may be the one for you.
