Truffles joins the Northstar family at age 14. She is in good shape for her age, except her eyesight isn’t great, she has no teeth, and she has a mild heart murmur. (No meds needed at this point.) Meet Mei Mei!&#226&#128&#168Born in February 2022 and weighing under 15 pounds, Mei Mei is a pocket-sized bundle of happy energy. This sweet girl has one main goal in life: to be close to her people. Whether you’re working, relaxing, or moving around the house, she’ll be right there with you—tail wagging and heart full. Mei Mei is a champion snuggler who loves to curl up on your lap or in a cozy bed. But she’s not a total couch potato either. When she’s not glued to her foster mom’s side or napping, she loves to sniff around the yard or play with her foster siblings. She does have some hip issues, and is scheduled for an orthopedic consult in mid-December to learn more about how to best support her long-term comfort and mobility. For now, she gets around well and still has plenty of pep in her step. In fact, she would do best in a home with a fenced in yard because she loves to run and explore and will definitely chase squirrels! When Giovanni's owner died and no one wanted him, NorthStar Pet Rescue took him into their care. Giovanni is a 10-year-old Shih Tzu who was surrendered along with Giselle TX and who are both now in a loving foster home. Officially introducing Sophie! This Shih Tzu on steroids (actually literally right now for her itchy skin) was a whopping 27lbs on arrival but is quickly shedding the extra pounds on her crash diet. She was abandoned in rough shape with severely itchy untreated skin and ear infections as well as chronic dry eye- she was basically a bright red mess when she was brought to the county shelter. She’s about 8 years old according to her unregistered microchip and a very very sweet girl with a cute happy personality. She’s ok with other calm dogs but keeps to herself around them. She loves people and has been a good girl for her medicated baths and eye drops which she will need longterm. She likes car rides and walkies, loves food of course, and is an all around nice little companion for someone who will stay on top of her allergies and weight loss.
