Story

When this poor little gal wandered up to someone's house as a stray and no owner could be found, Souffle was taken in by a rescuer. She will be heading soon to NorthStar Pet Rescue to find a permanent home. She was quite neglected in her previous home but she has seen the vet and begun treatment for dry eye and her infected ears. She will also be getting a dental & any other vetting she needs to feel better! She was such a trooper throughout her vetting - we were all impressed at her sweet personality. Souffle is about 14 years old and weighs under 17 pounds. She is housebroken and loves to go for car rides! She does fine in a crate or an inside pen. And as you can see in the video, she's a champion leash walker! Her favorite activity is sitting in your lap. This gal is a big-time snuffler! Meet HC Lizard TX! We don't know very much about this boy except that his owners found themselves without a home and unable to care for him and their other dogs. Lizard is now safe in a foster home and as we learn more about him we will update his biography. Lizard is a Shih Tzu mix, approximately 1 year old, and weighing just 11 pounds. Lizard's foster tells us that he is terrified of cats larger than 10 pounds. He will “scream” when they just look at him, however, he is good with and enjoys the company of smaller cats as you can see in his photos. He will actually groom them and sleeps with them. Lizard gets jealous when larger dogs get close to him when he is near his foster mom. He will growl and bark and may snap. Lizard would be best in a home with no other dogs and perhaps a laid back smaller cat. Lizard will do his business outside but will also utilize wee wee pads. Lizard has dry skin above his tail. Meet HC Zander TX! When his owners found themselves without a home and unable to care for him and their other dogs, Northstar stepped in to save them all! Zander is about 2 years old and only weighs about 12 pounds - perfectly sized for any lap! Zander is an absolute total love bug - he loves to cuddle and give kisses. He loves to share the bed with you. He likes to sit with you while watching TV. Zander also likes to explore and, when playing, he also likes to rough house. He also enjoys going for walks and car rides if you're looking for good company! Zander gets along with all the dogs in his foster home in Texas. He is good with my kittens but he does like to chase my adult cats especially when they run from my herd of little dogs (although we have included a photo of him watching TV with one of the cats). Zander will go in his kennel but prefers to sleep with his person/people. And he is SOOOO happy to see foster mom when she walks through the door after work. This boy is pretty much perfect for anyone's home! And don't you just love that curly tail?? Meet HC Bigelow TX whose owners found themselves without a home and unable to care for him and their other dogs. Bigelow is now safe in a foster home and as we learn more about him we will update his biography. Bigelow is a Shih Tzu mix, approximately 6 years old, and weighing just 13 pounds - he is now safely in a foster home in TX & will be coming to NJ to find a forever home. Bigelow's foster mom says he is just the sweetest guy! He is house trained and crate trained and wants to be close by, but not underfoot. He isn’t comfortable being on the couch - much prefers a bed on the floor by your feet. Bigelow does love going on car rides & will happily accompany you on your errands. Bigelow walks well on a leash although he doesn't like to walk very far- he needs some encouragement periodically to keep walking. He gets a few houses away from home and is ready to turn around. Bigelow is somewhat vocal so he would not be a good choice for an apartment - single home living would be best for him (and your neighbors!)
