Mina Paws is a rare and beautiful black Shih Tzu girl who is estimated to be about 10 years old, though you might never guess it by looking at her bright expression and those surprisingly beautiful teeth. This sweet little lady weighs about 17 pounds and has recently begun a new chapter in life after losing the only home she had ever known. Sadly, when her owner passed away, Mina’s life took a heartbreaking turn. The remaining family members left her outside for a period of time, and this gentle girl went from being someone’s companion to being neglected and forgotten. By the time rescue was able to step in, Mina was in very poor condition. Her coat had thinned drastically from untreated skin issues, her nails had grown so long they were nearly curling into her paw pads, and she was understandably frightened and confused. But even through all of that, Mina’s sweet spirit was still there waiting to shine again. With proper veterinary care, treatment for her skin, and the kindness of a loving foster home, Mina has been transforming day by day. Her hair has almost completely grown back in, her skin is healing beautifully, and she is beginning to look like the lovely Shih Tzu girl she was born to be. Even more importantly, her heart is healing too. Mina can be a little shy at first when meeting new people, which is understandable after everything she has been through. But once she feels safe, her affectionate personality blossoms. She loves to cuddle, happily settling into a warm lap where she feels most content. She has even started to rediscover the joy of play as she slowly lets go of the sadness from her past. It’s truly wonderful to watch her greet each new day with a little more confidence and happiness. Mina Paws also gets along beautifully with other animals. She lives peacefully with both dogs and cats and enjoys their quiet companionship. She would do well in a calm home where she can continue to feel safe, loved, and cherished. This sweet senior girl is fully vetted and ready for the next chapter of her life. She has been spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, and has even had a complete senior bloodwork panel to ensure she is healthy moving forward. All Mina wants now is a gentle home where she will never again have to wonder if she is loved. Scrappy had a crappy owner and crappy life and is ready for a fresh start! His owners were evicted and just left him behind in the vacant apartment, a scared defensive matted mess. He’s just a baby, 1-2 years old and took some time to feel safe but is sweet and playful once he warms up. He’s a Shih Tzu or maybe Lhasa mix, 15lbs and now has been neutered and updated on shots. He had untreated chronic dry eye and is on prescription medication for life- he was a bit dramatic and convinced we were trying to blind him with the eye drops but now is calming down since he realizes it helps him feel better and is much more cooperative for his twice daily treatments. He’s a cute but quirky guy who definitely needs his space at first but lovable once he lets down his guard. Meet Stewie! He’s a bit too nice and easy and young and healthy and friendly and normal for us… but he needed a place to go so we took him anyway 😆 He’s a really lovable almost 5 year old non-shedding mix who has been passed around, and most recently surrendered because his owners were gone 12 hours at a time and he was having separation anxiety and accidents when alone for too long. So he’s looking for someone who will be home with him more often than not, and definitely seems less anxious with another dog in the house. He checks all the boxes and has done well with dogs, cats, children, strangers, vets, and groomers in previous homes, a really happy friendly guy who thrives with social interaction. Some dogs can find his playful energy a bit annoying, and even though he is neutered he can be a bit of a humper so does best with dogs that can put him in his place. He was said to be Maltese/yorkie but we definitely see some Shih Tzu definitely with that underbite and crooked smile 😃, 15lbs full grown, neutered, updated on shots, well-cared-for, healthy and ready to move right into a home! Meet Michael Scott! At first glance, he seems like a loud, rude, obnoxious jerk. But if you make it past the awful first impression, you will find he can actually be a lovable goofy buffoon and fun to hang out with, and will keep you laughing. There’s definitely room for some character development, especially improvement with impulse control and learning to keep his mouth shut and be less offensive in public. But he probably won’t be the worst dog-boss you have ever had. Just a year old, he was surrendered to animal control for being “too hyper”, definitely still in his puppy phase. He growled at the vet so loudly they couldn’t even listen to his heartbeat and barks ferociously at first with new people, but deep down he’s just nervous and afraid of ending up alone. He’s been fine with other little dogs and they seem to normal him out a bit- he seems like a dog that was taken from his mom way too young and never got enough attention, so he makes sure he’s the center of attention at all times now. He’s only 12lbs, some kind of Shih Tzu mix, is updated on shots and we have had him neutered so he won’t be demanding you to set him up on dates. Porsche came to us by way of an animal control van and not a fancy car. She was terrified and bewildered at first but warmed up after a few days and definitely found her voice… she doesn’t bark, more like sings/howls/screams to let you know when she wants something. She got spayed and a hernia repair this past week which was a distressing traumatic event for both her and our vets, but is recovering well and coming out of her shell more each day. She’s almost 3 years old, some kind of non-shedding mix- we were told Maltipoo but seems more like Shih Tzu in there too- 13lbs full grown. She is ok with small calmer dogs, cries to let us know when she needs to go out to the bathroom or will use wee wee pads as well, and asks to be picked up once she bonds with you but is a bit head shy and scared at first with new people. She would like a quiet adult home and doesn’t seem like she’s exposed to much of the world outside her apartment before.
