Damien is a sweet senior boy, around 10 years old, who came to us in pretty rough shape. After some much-needed TLC, a good clean-up, and lots of love, Damien is loving life and showing everyone just how special he is! This little guy absolutely loves his foster siblings and enjoys being part of a family. He is wonderful with people and does well with other dogs as long as they understand and respect his personal space. Damien enjoys playing with his toys, and he seems to have mastered both housebreaking and using pee pads. At the end of the day, he is perfectly content snuggling up on his foster mom’s bed and sleeps quietly through the night. Damien may be a senior, but he still has plenty of love and personality to share. He has already come such a long way, and now he is ready for the very best chapter of his life—a loving forever home where he can continue to enjoy all the good things he deserves. ❤️🐾 Damien does have a heart murmur and will require medication for the rest of his life, along with ongoing follow-up appointments with a veterinary cardiologist. His forever family will need to be committed to keeping up with his medical care and making sure this sweet senior continues to receive everything he needs to live his happiest, healthiest life.

Meet our charming Shih Tzu mix boy named Sir Ziggy — a young Shih Tzu (mostly Shih Tzu) with a wonderfully playful spirit and a personality that is hard not to fall in love with. At about 12–15 months old and 13 pounds, Ziggy is the perfect combination of small size and big personality. He is full of energy and absolutely loves interacting with his person. Playing, wrestling, being scooped up and flipped upside down, or simply getting some one-on-one attention — Ziggy is happiest when he is included. He has a wonderfully silly side, and when the zoomies begin, watching him race and bounce around is pure entertainment. Ziggy genuinely enjoys other dogs and is eager to make friends. Sometimes his enthusiasm gets the better of him, and he needs a little help understanding that not every dog is quite as excited about playtime as he is. He responds well to guidance and will benefit from someone who can give him appropriate boundaries while still appreciating his exuberant personality. One of the sweetest things about Ziggy is his outlook on life. My goodness is this boy a happy, resilient little guy who doesn't seem to hold a grudge or get discouraged when another dog isn't interested in playing. He simply moves on and finds something else to enjoy. There is a genuine sweetness underneath all that puppy energy. (We could all take a cue on this attitude) :-) Ziggy is in good health and is up to date on wellness care, testing, preventatives, and vaccines. He is looking for a home that will appreciate his enthusiasm for life while helping him continue to learn and mature. A youngish adopter that is 55 and younger might be just what this boy needs. We want him to have consistent boundaries, patience, play, and plenty of affection will go a long way with this boy. Bubbles and her sister Buttercup were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. We believe the mom was a yorkie their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd last year so they are now a year old. Bubbles has been spayed, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She’s also microchipped. She weighs about 10 pounds and is full grown now. Bubbles is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. She needs a little practice on the leash and she’s making great progress on house training. Bubbles is a very friendly and a super snuggler! She and Buttercup are very bonded and we would very much like to get them a home together. They are so funny together! They play and run zoomies around the house. They would do well with older children and we have not had them around cats but we feel like she would be fine with proper introduction. Meet Pretty Portia! This adorable Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso mix was found wandering as a stray in a rural community northwest of Nashville. She was hungry, frightened, and severely matted—clear signs she hadn’t been cared for and had likely been on her own for some time. After her grooming, a new Portia emerged. She joyfully ran up and down the animal control hallway until she tired herself out. That was when Mr. Randy knew he had to find a rescue for her. With a quick call to Miss Peggy, Portia was soon on her way to her foster home. Portia is a bit hesitant at first and may need a couple of days to settle in. Once she is comfortable and knows you are her person, she will become your loyal companion—rarely leaving your side and always wanting to know where you are and what’s happening. Portia gets along well with other dogs and has a wonderful time playing with her foster sister, Molly. They romp and run together in the fenced yard. Portia is also good with cats. She loves to play but is equally happy to settle in for TV time and snuggle next to you. Portia rides well in the car and will be a great companion for any outing. If you’re looking for a diamond in the rough, Portia could be the perfect addition to your family—just give her a few days to settle in. Portia is fully vaccinated and spayed.
