She’s happiest in an active home where someone is around much of the time, since she loves being right in the middle of family life. Layla has a big personality and expresses herself with plenty of barking, often just for fun, so she’ll do best with people who appreciate a chatty companion. Layla also has allergies that require ongoing care. When she first arrived, her skin was in rough shape, but with treatment and a special diet, she’s made great progress! She may need continued management to keep her comfortable. Meet Marley It breaks our hearts to be looking for a new home for Marley. He is truly an amazing dog and a wonderful companion. Marley is approximately 16 lbs and is a Shih Tzu mix. He gets along well with other dogs and would do best in a home without young children (older teens or adults only). He loves to lounge and be near his people, but when it’s time to play, he’s all in — especially when it comes to fetch and his toys. With a busy toddler in our home, Marley has become overstimulated, which has unfortunately led to two incidents. He is not a vicious or aggressive dog. He is currently in professional training, which has been very successful, but out of an abundance of caution and with our toddler’s safety in mind, we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to find him a more suitable environment where he can truly thrive. Our veterinary partner estimates that Gideon is 10 years old at the time of intake in February 2022. Gideon is good with people who respect his space and he's good with other dogs, but cats--not so much! He is an adorable, albeit grumpy, senior boy who lives life on his own terms--he will let you know when you are violating his person or his space. He doesn't like cats and he doesn't like to be picked up; he likes to have his back rubbed, but if you hit the wrong spot, watch out! Gideon will do best in a home with snarky dog experience, where he can be independent, and if there are children they should be older and capable of respecting Gideon and his space.
