Story
At the very beginning of Lily's life, someone was nice to her. If a kitten isn't handled regularly between about four to eight weeks of age, they usually become feral and untouchable. But someone touched Lily. In the summer of 2025, Lily showed up in the scrapyard of a factory in East Oakland. She was only about four months old. Lily started making regular appearances at the 5 pm feeding of the factory's feral cat colony. Lily initially spent most of her time hiding, as she was scared of the other, bigger cats. Over time, Lily started coming closer and closer to the person who fed her. Finally, one day she let that person pet her and bring her to her foster home. Lily is now fostered in a loving home, and it has been fun watching her blossom into a house cat. Everything about indoor life was new to her, but as Lily has gotten more relaxed and confident, she has started showing her rambunctious kitten energy and playfulness! Lily loves to run, play, look at birds, and cuddle with you in bed. Lily will do best in a calm, patient home, where has time to settle in and get to know her people. Lily can be quite shy with new people at first, but is easily won over by a Churu treat! Lily would do well as an only cat, as long as her human(s) are home a lot and she gets plenty of playtime. She would likely do well with an easygoing, playful cat companion who can help build her confidence as an indoor cat, given the proper introduction. Lily has not been around children or dogs, but she may do well with gentle children age 12+. Her estimated date of birth is April 1, 2025. Kitty Bio #1022KM-Li. â–¶ï¸ scroll down for clips If you're interested in adopting Lily, or another of our cats, please fill out our adoption questionnaire at icraeastbay.org/adopt/how-to.July 10, 2026, 5:07 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Cat Holding 2:3Alberto and Ernestina are 4-month-old kittens taking their first careful look at the world, and they've decided the safest way to do it is side by side. Brown tabby Ernestina is the braver of the two — easy to pet, quick to chase a wand toy, and usually the first to decide a visitor is all right. Siamese-mix Alberto is more reserved and prefers to size things up from behind his sister, but treats reliably tip the scales in favor of bravery, and he's gone from keeping his distance to accepting pets in just a couple of weeks. Both siblings are still building their confidence and relax a little more with each visit, so a calm, patient home will suit them best. Give these two love, time, and a quiet place to grow up, and they have all the makings of sweet, playful companions!  July 11, 2026, 3:07 am

Story
Best Match : Seeking an adopter with substantial experience Would be most comfortable in a calm adult only home Needs to be the only cat Needs to be indoor only Mocha is a girl that likes things on her terms- when to be pet and when to play! She needs an adopter that is familiar with cat body language and knows and respects boundaries. Once you have this down- she will be giving you head butts, leg rubs and snuggling into your chest while you are sleeping.  Her foster says: "She loves to lounge around in her cat bed or watch out the windows. She is curious about any work that I do around the house, but leaves me alone at my computer desk, save for putting her paws on the side of my chair when she wants pets or playtime." If you have the patience and love for this pretty gal, and experience living with cats- especially ones with some behavior challenges-she could be just the thing for your calm household! She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV. If you are interested in setting up a meeting or have more questions, please complete our Adoption Inquiry form !
